I subscribe to the local (Illinois/Wisconsin border) Renaissance Faire e-newsletter, and just received this anouncement concerning planned events: "The summer of 2006 is not to be missed as the Bristol Renaissance Faire celebrates its 19th season in high seas fashion with all things nautical. Sea dogs and pirate wenches make ready as the Dreadnought, a 100-foot, triple masted privateering ship, sails for Bristol's port. Landlubbers and seafarers alike, now is the time to set your inner pirate free." Good enough for me! You can get details, maps, etc., etc. here.

How many of you are planning to attend the Goldcoast Pirate Faire at Lake Casitas in Ojai CA? Pirate Faire Website Tales of the Seven Seas will have an encampment. I would love to meet some of you in person! Additionally, if there are any crewless/guildless pirates looking for a hoarde to hang out with, we always welcome new pirates to join us!

No one has posted anything about Ojai yet, so here is the heads up. Seems most of the pirates I know are going the first weekend, Sept. 20-21. This is an awesome event, in a really nice setting, so I hope lots of pirates can turn their "ships" in that direction, drop anchor, and have a great time. Lots of vendors, food, music, and battles! (Yes, shoot or gully those nasty Spaniards!) I know Tales of the Seven Seas will have an encampment again this year, so come by and see us!

THe 1st Annual Long Island Pirate Festival June 14 & 16, Long Island Maritime Museum, Sayville NY - Finally, the New York City area has a pirate festval to call it's own. The festival will be held on the beautiful seaside grounds of the Long Island Maritime Museum, amid the whaling boats, ships bells and quays. The air will ring with the sounds of music and cannon fire, as we celebrate Long Island's rich maritime history and pirate background. Museum is located 45 min out of NYC, in Sayville ( and no Barber of Sayville jokes, please). Organized and sponsored by Ye Pirate Brotherhood, an entertainment and re-enactment group, with the proceeds to benefit the Museu…

Arrr, so who’ll be with me attending this year’s "Pirate Invasion!" at the Maryland Renaissance Faire? I 'ear it 'ill be happening the weekend of September 20 & 21. http://www.rennfest.com/mrf/index.html A while back, the lot of us on this side of the new world ( sort of north-east u.s. ) be talking about a pirate get together. Capt. Flint came up with the great idea for us all to meet up at this year’s Pirate Invasion event in Maryland, being that Maryland was centrally located to the group of interest relatively speaking. Well, September is right around the corner! So, who be with me? Capt. Flint? Katey O'Tierney? CaptCat? Dorian Lasseter? MadMaryFlint?…

Okay people, what is happening to Ren Faires when rules are set in place in order to spoil fun for happy go-lucky playtrons like us, all in the name of the all mighty dollar? As I mentioned on the Raid site (Bristol Ren Faire) a group of us decided to visit Bristol Ren Faire on Saturday. In stead of having a leisure day enjoying ourselves, we were confronted with stupid rule after stupid rule. First, Cap’n Pete Straw had entered the event prior to our group, had been in the faire for about ½ hour then exited the faire (got stamped for return access) to see if he could meet up with us outside. Upon trying to reenter, Pete was told that he could not bring his hook with…

Come by our encampment or email me if you'd like to join us! Last year we had a grand time- even Jeff, our skeleton in the barrel came home with fond memories... We awoke one morning and found him with a pair of ladies panties clutched in his hands!! (We never did discover who the panties belonged too and Jeff ain't sayin'!) Last year we were across the way from the Rum Runners camp. Not only did we enjoy their company and home-brewed rum, but we also enjoyed several fencing ma…

Argggggggggggggggggg!! I just booked me passage to California for this wonderful event!! It came to Florida 2 years ago for the first time in like 10 years..(down the street from my house too!!) I still remember how me and the family swelled up with tears when we pulled up and saw the great tallships sailing in against the sunlight!! All you could see was their sillouette (sails and all) against the bright light. It was breathtaking. I didn't get to see all the festivities.. it is going to be different this year!!! Sniff sniff.. I am tearing up already!!! Anyone else be going??? Gabrielle

I had a blast. I could fill up the forum with the list of memories that I have from this weekend, it was that good. So many...MANY pirates!!! It was a joy in me wee black heart t' see them all. I came home late, tired, a bit sunburned on my wrist (trust me, that confused me as well), but happy as anything. To those I met, it was a true pleasure. There were some I wish I could have spent more time with, some I caught at the last moment that it would have been nice to talk to more, but I'm already plotting me wee mind for next year. To any there that I didn't meet? Will 'ave t'work this out for another time then won't we? *elaborate bow* I am sure the details of my …

Yeah, while it isn't soon, it is coming up and with me being busy this summer, I thought I would start the ball rolling now rather than waiting for the last minute. Details are as usual with the same caveat that changes may occur, but I will update this forum (and others) as well as the web site if and as soon as any major changes occur. For those who came last September, it doesn't look like the ship is booked either night, so the R-Bar excursion may be a lot more optional. Although the R-Bar has opened a kitchen and does now serve food (which was the biggest issue with that last year). There is a Facebook Page for this event up as well, but please keep in mind the Fa…

It's never too late to learn a few vulgar words. And Captain Grose, with his Dictionary of the Vulgar Tongue, should give you plenty of colorful words to spice up your piratical holiday. I found a link to an e-text of his dictionary. Enjoy. http://www.harvestfields.ca/etextLinks/31/00.htm
