Stynky, Your previous post didn't have the capability to accept repsonses, so I'm responding here. I think you may be misinterpretting our Blackbeard's Wake event as a private event. It is actually open to the public, has three different pirate guilds attending, a tall ship and pirates flying in from out of state and southern CA. Actually, I like to hear about even the smallest pirate gatherings and even things like kid's pirate birthday parties. If I may add my two cents worth, I would like to continue to use and abuse this topic for both public and private raids large and small. Any other comments?

Gasparilla Photo Album as for the review. i'm not a skilled writer, so i'll make it short n sweet. i can't even begin to compare the traffic in tampa to washington dc, but we (micah n i) choose to ride a shuttle in from the bucc's football stadium. pleaseant ride, not every far away...only $6 pp...well worth it. parking was "free". we arrived to find many people claiming their spots on the parade route. with GREAT advice from lady elaina we purchaced bleacher seats which kept us away from the screaming, d…

I just put together a short edited video of the 1-4-04 sail, particularly the sea "battle" with the 'Kau'ilani. I think it's fairly entertaining... what d'you think? I'll certainly make more on future sails if ye be interested. ROYALISTE video It's ~17 MB; those on dialup might not want to try it. In addition, I'd appreciate it if ye right-clicked and "saved target" to save me the bandwidth on me server, rather than continually streaming it.

I noticed a lot of pyratical events happenin' along the coasts & elsewhere. But is there anythin' happening that is a little closer to home here in the midwest... along the mighty Mississippi? Any Ren fests? Even any pirates ponderin' a get together? If not... I be stuck here... landlocked in Eastern Iowa... more than willing to do somethin'.. even if only just to meet up for a pint or glass o' wine. I'm ichin' for some plunderin'! :: evil grinz:: What say ye out there?! Huzzah!

Last Sunday we had a great day of sailing. We went beyond the Golden Gate Bridge and out to sea along the coastline as far as Bolinas and then headed about 10 miles out to sea before coming back in. There were dolphins everywhere, both gray and black, leaping out of the water alongside the Royaliste. We had the unusual experience of winds carrying us northward along the coastline and a following sea pushing us from behind. The waves were large, about 8 to 10 feet, lifting the Royaliste high up into the air and sending us on an all-day rollercoaster ride that rivaled the best air-time on The Big Dipper, our local rollercoaster at the Boardwalk. This was NOT the best d…

By KATHRYN WEXLER, Times Staff Writer © St. Petersburg Times published December 25, 2002 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- TAMPA -- Ye Mystic Krewe of Gasparilla, the all-men's club that founded Tampa's oldest parade, is tired of other krewes stealing its thunder. So beginning on the parade's centennial in 2004, Ye Mystic Krewe has decided it should be the only group allowed to dress as pirates. "We fund it," said Fred Dobbins, captain of Ye Mystic Krewe. "We want to remain established as the leader and the reason this parade exists. Therefore, we want to re-establish our identity as a group of pirates storming the c…

After Gin departed, I moseyed on down to Conor Byrnes pub (by chance to hear Finn McGinty, an excellent celtic musician). After sayin' to meself "Gee, I could swear that sure looks like Lighthouse", sure enough it was none other than herself, me fellow Pyrates of the Coast member, with her roommate an' friends. Argh, 'tis a small world fer a pyrate! Can't throw a stone in Seattle wit'out hittin' one o' me crewe!!! Anyone else have any chance encounters wit' fe…

My buddy that I was going to be traveling with said he can't go so it look like I either make a solo 17 hour flight or I don't go. I hate to be a real wuss but I am l;eaning towards being a wuss no matter how bad I want to go I can't escape the fact it's 19 hours. Since I was planning on leaving this evening I very possibly might get a good night's sleep and leave first thing tomorrow morning. Possibly overnight in Miami and be there Tuesday morning but I am still weighing the options right now.

I just received the following email and wanted to share it. It comes to me via Bill Watters, who leads the California Independent Renaissance Guild Association CIRGA: Dear Guildmasters, Directors, Performers, As you have been aware, the fate of our Northern Faire has been uncertain. I am sad to announce that we are, indeed, closing the Northern Renaissance Pleasure Faire. Below is a letter from our management detailing the situation. Please know that Southern Faire will go on as planned, and that I am continuing as Entertainment Director. I thank everyone involved in creating our entertainment. You can be proud of the fine job you have done and proud of the …

Good Evening Darlings, Such a lovely place here, I've dearly enjoyed reading of your exploits and adventures. I have a little trouble of my own here, and have been hoping some of you may know how to solve it. I have been slightly cursed to be a landlocked pirate in the midwest states sadly enough, no water to be seen only the rows of corn around me. I am looking rather closely to try and find festivals, gatherings or events in the Nebraska, Missouri, Iowa, Kansas area that I might attend in the hopes of not forgetting the pirate in my heart. Any help would be rich, and doubly appreciated. [/color]
