Ok, everyone I just managed to finish uploading all of the select pictures to webshots.com. @7000 pictures and some change. The pictures are from the camera's of Nicole Andreyko, her boyfriend John, Eric and his girlfriend Sharon, Fayma and myself. Alltogether we took about 17,000 pictures and these were the best in my opinion. (subject to change as I stroll down memory lane and reevaluate). I uploaded the pictures at 1024x768 pixels so everyone could nab them at will. (back to that ugly bandwidth problem which this will solve). So here is how you do it. 1. Log onto "webshots.com" (don't know if you have to be a member, I think you can enter as a guest). 2. in th…

I have just started to go through the photos I copied from the Callahans hard drive and came across some from the hanging of Capt Sterling at PIP. I had seen pictures in the past, but watching the event unfold was very surreal. Here's my 2 cents (for anyone who cares or hasn't seen them)… Being on injured reserve, I watched the whole commotion from the sidelines and was watching the audience as much as the hanging. For those who were not there, the setup is as follows, M.A. d'Dogge has set up the audience to support the hanging of their Capt so they can join the Bone Island Buccaneers. Some of their crewe grab Sterling and start to move him towards the noose as Dogge…

Just been kickin' around through the various threads... each year the bar gets raised higher, and looks to be met. A lot of great looking pirates, and better yet, everyone seems to have had a blast. I could only hope to get out there one year to finally meet everyone.... Thanks for sharing your pics and stories, it soothes the wounds of not being able to participate...... a little.

I just got off the phone with cousin robbie.... he's doing well and enjoyed staying at the fort an extra week ..... waiting for sterling to come back to pick him up. from there an unidentified bearded guy told him to go to He%%- but poor cousin Robbie got his tropical islands mixed up and he landed in Cuba instead. Who would have thought anyone could swim that far? Fidel want's to know who Johnny is, otherwise things are looking good for him! seems he's being sent North after all and has been offered a job he's really excited about. It begins in roughly 9 hours and will be delivering a load of coal to Capt. Sterling.

The letter below appeared in today's edition (12/23/08) of the Key West Citizen. While it's not exactly clear that the letter writer is talking about our just-concluded event, one can make the logical conclusion that he, in fact, is "dissing" us and our event. I have drafted a response, but want to gain approval from my captain before I send it off to the newspaper. Once I gain that approval, I will post my response. Among the items I talk about in my response is the fact that monies were raised for charity and the fact that we hosted a young man through the South Florida Make-A-Wish Foundation. I also talked about our living history components of the event. Anyway, her…

Just wanted to let those whom I befriended down at PIP this year that I got home safe and sound last night. Other than flying circles around Milwaukee Airport for about 1/2 hour due to the snow storm that hit last night, I found myself pulling into my drive way at 11:30 pm. This was my first PIP and I must say that I will be back! Between the people, the sites, and the never ending laughter, it has to be the top of top Pyrate Events I've been to. For all of you who I met over the course of these past five days...you are now family (like it or not) and to those who jump on board and helped with EVERYTHING (that means, skits, meals, fires...and the list goes on) you are…

I thought about what Dutch said, and thought I should try to give background on the things I sent. The sack of beads and such include many different types and sizes of things I used to use as props for my camp display. Things a lone hunter might have carried for trade. A few of those are actually Hudsons Bay Co. originals from the early 1800's. The flint wallet, vent pick and turnscrew were all hand-made by me. The spyglass was a find that I still kick myself over. Several years ago I was in line at a discount outlet checking out and they had a stack of those at the end for $17. I thought they might be crap and only bought one. When I got home and realized i…

This year during one of the battles there was an issue with spectators just not wanting to keep a safe distance from the battle action on top of the fort. Folks were arguing with or just plain ignoring requests to move back. Not just mine, which is entirely fathomable , but Haunting Lily's and Captain Jim's as well. What are thoughts on some kind of barrier, something as simple as tape or rope that can quickly be put up and removed, and gives the viewers a clear idea of where the 'safe zone' is? I know we don't want to police folks or detract from the atmosphere of the battles, but I don't think a lot of the festival-goers realize the real danger involved. There were…

How do you describe PIP? It's family, friends, chaos, sleep deprivation, gut busting laughter, tears and special moments. It is such a unique experience for everyone. In no particular order, here are some of my favorite PIP moments. Our morning bacon salute to William. While holding a piece of bacon in your left hand, arm raised to the sun. A salute to William was made each morning before the bacon was consumed. You were with us each and every day William. The wonderful gathering of family and friends from several different crews for Saturday night's dinner at Silkie's Hide. Thank you all for being there. Standing in the firing line inbetween Captain Jim and Pat…

...is that you get back all full of memories and bonhomie toward your fellow Pub members and you just don't give damn all for trite things like Christmas and the day to day routines of life. I remember looking at Christmas and shopping and all that stuff last year and thinking how wan it seemed by comparison. Even as the colors fade and wash out of the cherished PiP memories, I still find myself looking at life as it as and thinking, "Reality just doesn't compare." It won't do." Ya' know? Curiously, PiP is the only event where this sort of ennui sets in for me. The other events are fun and everything, but somehow they're stuffy and too formal in comparison.

Ahoy All~ Captain Callahan (aka Papa) and I made it home safely FINALLY! Just a quick note to let you know it was a safe journey. There is so much here to catch up on, but we wanted to thank everyone for the calls to check on us during our trip. This year's PiP was so much more wonderful than we could have ever expected! Huzzah to all of ye, we miss ye already. With Love and a large tankard lifted, Fayma (aka Mama)

For all of you who were at PiP in the past, you know of what I speak: the evil coral chunks laying all over the place. Moreover, there were a few that suffered from shoes not properly worn-in. Just as a public service I would like to remind everyone to think ahead about your walking equipment. Start wearing them about the house and at work (you'll love the looks you get...OK, maybe not.) And you might want to invest in some insoles as added protection from the coral. Again, this is just a public service message. After all, its hard to feel the thrill of victory when you suffer from the agony of da feet. This has been Jim McCay for ABC's "Wide World of Pyracy"

Ahoy, mates! Please file this under shameless self promotion. Go ahead, I'll wait. I just wanted to let y'all know that I do plan to attend again this year. If there's something in particular you are looking for, or want me to bring, just let me know. I will try to oblige. For those of you who have tried to contact me in the past couple of months, here's the deal: When your messages came in I was on the road most of the time. Finally, finished up with that, then I had a little disagreement with one of my leather knives. The knife won, and I ended up with 12 stitches in the middle finger of my left hand (my writing hand). Managed to nick the tendon too. So, my finger wa…

We all wish to thank eveyone who did so much for Pirates in Paradise and the Fort Taylor Pirate Fest. Thanks to Captain Sterling and Not Nigel for their fine performances at the Cast and Crewe Party. Oi, the scuttlebutt be true. I must fess up and admit that YES, the Bone Island Buccaneers commandeered the Ntional Walk the Plank Trophy (mislabeled as the BIB Pyrat Olympics "trophy", well you can call it that) from MA Dogge. He had just about ruint it already, Bones head was lagging. reminding me of Not Nigel going over the barb wire. Maybe he is right, a new Olymic event for 2009. I digress, anyway, the BIB are going to fix up the Dogge damage to the trophy, place a proper nameplate on it, .(Does ANYONE know who to spell Not Nigel's christian name?) and then send it BACK to you Dogge. Here is the CATCH. We be sending it to a few FRIENDS along the way. Kinda like a "W…

Ahoy all! I am home from PIP and doing damage inventory..... 1 left ankle that is black and blue 1/2 way up my leg and all the way down my foot from tripping last night while returning to the parade grounds from the privy (I'm a klutz) 1 deep cut on a toe on my right foot (Thanks D'Dogge for not lighting the way on a ghost tour :) ) A cut that looks a heck of a lot like a human bite on my left arm... All sorts of bruises from the Anne & Mary capture, dragging and tumbling event (Some of Dutch's gear made a great bruise imprint in my leg when he picked me up and carried me away. And today I have wrapped it up with the crud that everyone else has been passing ar…

I want to personally thank Spike and the rest of the fabulous Bone Island Buccaneers for not only taking the fort fest to the next level but three or four beyond that. Thanks to the Callahans -- the entire bunch -- for their warm friendship and amazing photos that they give us year in and year out. Thanks to Harry and the entire fort staff for their hospitality, clearing the way for us, making us feel at home, solving some often bizarre problems and telling great ghost stories that still give me chills -- you guys are the best. To all the cast of the Tryal of Anne Bonny and Mary Read -- thanks for letting me be your narrator. I'll have my part memorized by next year, …
