Anyone know much about coins? I ran across an old silver coin in my collection dated 1804. Not from the U.S. Head on one side and a crest on the other. If anyone knows much about coins, let me know and I can send a photo. I thanks ye!

I think I'm just about ready to procure a cutlass, and I was wondering what the best way to fly with it is. Cases anyone recommends? Luckily, I'd only have to transport it by air twice, in about two weeks and five weeks respectively. The rest of the time it can just go in my car.

Boat Plans

I've been looking for a long time to find plans for old style sailing boats in the 12' to 17' range. I love the lines of the boat Captian Jack made his entry on in P.O.C. but I dont know about the square riged sail. Was this a movie adaptation or did small boats of the time use the square rig as opposed to the lateen sail? Would this be harder to learn with as I am just beggining in the art of sail? And most importantly where can I get plans for such a boat? As to the question many of you must be asking (Why is this moron trying to build his FIRST SAIL BOAT? ) Even though it'll propably cost more this way I figure I can peice it out over time instead of makeing the big le…

I am looking for recomendations on Tide Table information/predictions for the West Coast. Would like to find a Tide Predictor program for the West Coast. I've searched Google and Ask Jeaves got 2 books and 1 tide predictor program. However, the predictor program is for Europe and the East Coast, and I can't get any good info on the books. Those of you who use them what do you recomend?

What kind of a flask would a pirate or sailor be using? Would it be a 1/2 pint or pint glass bottle? Does anyone know where to get a flask I can use with me outfit. I'm getting tired of caring a quart bottle and having none left for a wee bit of comfort at the end of me journey. I do share and sometimes neglect to hold on to a bit for me. I always give comfort to my fellow scallywags. Scupper

I came across this pic of an old coin. Being a fanatic of octopi (as well as treasure treasure treasure ), I'd like to know its origins. Can't seem to find anything about it. My first guess was Greek. Any other ideas? Wartooth (who coincidentally enough is in the midst of designing an evil-looking octopus tattoo for his left arm)

Just got me new cutlass from Loyalist Arms & Repairs of Canada and I can recommend her without reservation. She's the "17th/18th Century Dutch Cutlass," and while I don't know the true provenance I think she's a fine munition grade generic cutlass for anytime from 1650-1860s. The hilt is a graceful half-basket connected to the pommel-cap. The grip seems to be hardwood. Gaurd and grip are covered with a heavy coat of dull-black paint, an excellent idea for sea service. A magnet test proves that the guard and pommel are steel. Blade is about 26" and slightly curved, with a broad fuller 3/4s its length with a narrow fuller along the top of the broad one. The tip is spea…

Well me ladies...since you be asking. I don't have a pic...yet. I think I will sneak out tommorrow and see if I can plunder me one. I would have liked to plunder said pyrate, if only in my dreams. To explain what I mean...I will describe this dashing specimen. He wore a long red leather frock coat with silver buckles. His large tricorn hat was black with a gray block trim. His hair was as dark as night and fell past his shoulders. His eyes were also dark but a spark of merriment lite them up. His smile was quirked to one side under a well trimmed mustache with a medium length goatee underneath. He had on a natural colored calf skin vest and was well equipped w…

As many of ya know, I own & manage a stage show group for Renaissance Faires. As such, I am attempting to find a suitable steamer trunk or a trunk of similar ilk to stash all of our props and such in. I have searched Ebay and found some hopefuls but nothing very serious. I was wondering if you lot knew of a better place to go to find a trunk that will fit the bill (and the budget) and that I won't up and die over if it gets demolished during use. Thanks ever so much, Cap'n Emerald

Aye.. I be in search fer a nice.. white/cream/dirty white shirt that pirate's wear. I be a lass and have a wench's dress, but I always be on the lookout fer a nice shirt of that sort. I been seeing some ( I been looking on eBay) but many of them are over $30. (call me cheap but with me being a pirate and having the heart fer treating many drinks, I haven't the money) I not be wanting much to spend over $30, so if ye see anything out there, thanks, mate! Well, I was hanging on AFR for the first time in years, and spoted a person asking for help getting into their local faire. After a miscontruded "you can't do that! It's not right!" commuication with another poster, I got this link from the person selling the hats in an email tonight. And I am shocked delighted, and wowed. Their work is amazing! It's custom made to your head, all leather, it's beautiful. I'm getting misty looking at it. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...&ed=10742722240 Izzy

OK Ebay auction addicts!! Describe fer us if ye' will, the best deals ye' ever plundered on Ebay. Here are mine- I bid on an ancient Egyptian bronze ring. The seller photographed it to show that the band was intact and stated (incorrectly) that it was inscribed with a cartouche (encircled royal name) I knew this was unlikely as it would make it something akin to priceless. It had, however been deaquisitioned from a museum. The seller did not photograph the inscription, so I bid a little over $200 and took a chance on it. I won the auction and didn't know what I'd get when I opened the package- I was stunned. Inside was a beautiful bronze ring inscribed with heir…

Just wondering if anyone knows a good place to find enough stuff to outfit a party. Bob the Swab and I got married at the PIP festival this year, and now my mom and my aunt want to throw us a party. However, neither one of them knows a Jolly Roger from a cutlass. So...I have been given the duty of finding the items they need and reporting back. Only problem is--I have no idea of where to find the stuff required. Anyone got any ideas about some stuff with skulls and crossbones on it (like tablecloths, napkins, etc)? We have some pretty good ideas for cakes and such, but any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks, Capt. WE Roberts
