PARDON OUR DUST Stynky and I have been working on re-arranging the events in the Raids, Boarding Parties & Pyrate Events into groupings of the month they start in. We are making a forum for each event, with pinned information copied from the No Quarter Given calendar page: http://www.noquartergiven.net/calendar.htm It's tedious to copy over all the links as well (I may slowly go back and fill them in), so if a link to the events website is not present, then go to the NQG Calendar page to see if there is a link. If an event is not listed, then start a topic for it in the general Raids forum, and we will catch up later and make a forum for it and move it to it's co…

ok so i have hit a logistical snag. a four day field event without a shower seems a bit much to me. what can be done to accomplish this without a supporting infrastructure or is it best to tell attendees to grab a pot of hot water, a bucket and fend for themselves? any ideas???????????????

I know it be a late post for the last Exotic Blend, but the review and the pics are up. Take a gander. Not only did they pressgang me into dancing with them, I also got to MC the show. This Friday in Redlands is the October Exotic Blend Belly Dance event. The theme is creepy or Halloweeny. Sunday is the Nightmare Before Halloween bellydance event and once again, the Crew of the Blue Damsel be dancin' their pirate dance guest dancing yours truly. Check out me website for some more info and drop me a line. It is great to hear from you all. Captain Dunn, The Sage Lion thesagelion.com

Ahoy mates. I just got word of a possible party to be held in Georgia. Braze the Pyrate is the host. Not sure if it will go down just yet, though. We are looking for possible interest. The date is not set yet but he is looking for June 16/17th depending. on when most can get together. Looking for 5 doubloons to help with the food costs. Sounds like it might be fun!!! here is the official invite, extended to all the members of the Pub: Ahoy Mate. I am thinking about throwing a pirate party at my place in South Georgia in June. I live on eight acres, mostly wooded so there is lots of room. I plan to show pirate movies on a big 30 foot screen outside at one en…

We are beginning planning for a pirate festival in Port Royal, Jamaica. We would be headquartered at Morgan's Resort, which is in Port Royal proper. What we're looking for now is a general raise of hands of those interested. The event will probably be in April or May, 2007. Activities would include vendor booths at the resort, a trip to Lime Cay, which is near Rackham's Cay (which is now submerged by the way), a presentation on the sunken city, a historic ghost tour of Port Royal, a visit to Fort Charles, which has artifacts from the sunken city, perhaps a candlelit dinner there as well, a trip to the Money Museum to see an amazing collection of money through history, …

I am presenting to a comittee a living history festival proposal for my home town. This would include people representing Native Americans (Catawba), 16th century Spanish explorers and settlers, 16th century French settlers, 17th century Scottish settlers, 17th century English settlers, 18th century Swiss and German settlers, Pirates, Native Americans in war paint (Yemassee), British Royal Foot, South Carolina Militia, 3rd SC Calvary, Confederate artillery, Federal troops, sailors, and surgeons, WWI Marine, WWII/Korean War Marine, Viet Nam Marine pilot, and a modern Marine. Whew! It's a big undertaking, but I'm up for it. Our history here is very extensive but as more …

So, Red and I were talking about holloween and dressing up. Then we talked about Knotts Holloween haunt, etc... Well, you cannot dress up there. So here's where the discussion led. March 18, 1967 was the openning day of "pirates of the Carribbean" ride at Disney, Anaheim, CA. how cool would it be if they were bombarded and boarded by us in garb? Of course we couldn't bring weapons or alcohol (where'd the fun go?) But I thought it might be an idea worth throwing out there. Especially since I know all the goth kids picked some day every year to fill the park with them all in black and such.

Ok, here's my report on S. Faire. The only Security our small group saw the whole time was OUTSIDE the faire, not inside. People were walking around partaking in their favorite drink, flasks also, especially since there is a booth selling flasks. What I liked: Nice trees, shade for most areas, the Santa Fe Dam made for a nice backdrop. Was really impressed for the vendors who had virtually little time to get a booth put together, to make the faire look good. The Friends of Faire area was extremely spacious and looked comfortable, a few new food booths that I hadn't seen before at that faire (who would have thought to put frozen chocolate dipped cheesecake on a stick? …

I just wrote a pirate book that was published yesteday and my publishing company wants to send me to a pirate festival or two in the next month or so to hawk it and make money for the bastards (I already got an advance and drank it). Having spent the last three years cooped up typing about pirating rather than doing it, I've never been to one. If you had to choose one, and it was getting paid for by The Man, which is the one to go to, d'ye think, Hampton or Lee Island? I'd appreciate yer thoughts, sober or otherwise.

My son brought up an interesting question the other day, one which I wasn't able to answer, so I hope someone here has some info. Is there any Faire or Festival in the US that is exclusively, or even partially, devoted to Oriental subjects? What I'm envisioning is the fair-goers dressed in samurai, emperor, monk, ninja-type outfits, oriental food and wares being offered by merchants, demos of calligraphy, No plays, martial arts, etc., etc... Probably not a large enough interest level, eh? It just seems that all the Faires are devoted to European themes... And Mods - if this is in the wrong place - apologies - feel free to move it.

I am not sure where to exactly post this message, but a friend of mine mailed this forward. I spent many years at Devore, and I am sad to see this message cross my screen. Link to Article Annual event needs to find new home By SCOTT VANHORNE, Staff Writer Tuesday, January 04, 2005 - The Renaissance Pleasure Faire, which drew thousands of revelers to Glen Helen Regional Park in Devore for a taste of 16th-century English flair, will have to find a new home, county officials said Tuesday. "There will be no fair this year," San Bernardino County Counsel Fiona Luke said. "The parties are going to work out an agreement to terminate the contract." The 10-year lease agre…

Cross-posted from a Friend I know this is late in the week, but I wanted to get the alert out before this weekend. It appears the outdated skill of "cut purse" has been revived at MD faire. Last weekend Jon, one of the rose sellers, had his pouch cut off his belt. (Before anyone skoffs too much, the pouch was recovered later and examined. The stings were cut, not frayed or untied) Here are the details, as much as we could piece together: We believe it happened somewhere between Blessed Scents and The Soap and Wax Candle booth, 4:45pm - 5pm. About 10 minutes later he went to make change for a customer and the pouch was gone. It was a simple deep pouch secured by one t…

MDRF lost one of it long time booth owners just last night. Ken of the Ken Show, The Museum of UnNatural History passed away last night after a long battle with C--------. (In respect for Ken, who would never tell anyone what was going on, even though we all knew..) For those who didn't know him, but I'm sure ya would recognize him. Ken was the freak standing outside the booth, with the spiderwebbed tunic, black nail polish, black eyeliner, big boots, and all this on a guy in his 50's with a braided blonde beard down to his chest. To quote him directly, "darn, I still can't believe their letting me make a living at doing this." Ken was a real artist, all the di…

Now tha' it's summer, this Wolf has a bunch more free time... but apparently, no where to spend it! I shelled out $80 fer some new garb, and now 'ave no oppertunity to wear it... where appropriate, that is. Why is it that during the summer, there seems to be far less things to do, ren faires to attend... pirate men to flush? C'mon men, throw parties or somethin'! I'm bored! Captain Wolfy Wench

Ok, I just got home early this morning from Tux, and I must say that it was a great time... There were many pyrates there from various ships.... The Crimson Pirates were there with their new CD Putrid and Disgusting... There were crew members from the HMS Dragon, the Wayward Pilgram...( You need to check out their float in the parade and get Lei'd... And many others I know I am missing... The Queen even made comment on Sunday night about how the faire was over run with Pyrates... i had to laugh at that... The music was great... Wyrd Sisters are back ... The Rogue Show is a must see... Hoping to make it back for Labor Day weekend...
