Just wanted to let anyone on this coast, or anyone who's planning on being here over the long weekend, know that the NW Folklife Festival will be having its usual sea music concert this Saturday, May 29th, from 2-6 at the NW Court Stage (aka "The Beer Stage"). Many fine chantey singers will be there, including Pint and Dale, Broadside, The Cutters and Victory Sings at Sea. We love to have people sing along, so come on out and join the party. Chances are decent for a Wawona party later on in the evening... And if ye wants a bit o' celtic rock, come by the same stage on Monday and see Coventry at 1:40. Fair winds and full tankards, Trapper

well...micah and myself went out to discover the history of jamestown by ourselves. the crowds were scarce, and the weather couldn't have been better! we took our time and allowed a whole day at jamestown. their museum is wonderful. this included a 15 minute film on the history. we found the artifacts very exciting...lots of weapons fron the 1600's. con: not allowed to take photos of all the beautiful rapiers : ( we headed outside to the ships (replicas) where we saw the susan constant, the discovery, and the godspeed. the constant was the largest ship (100 tons) that brought over the first colonists, and there was talk of pirates, seeing how she was a merchant ship. yo…

Check out this site for details:Ontario Renaissance Festival WE'll be there Aug 14 (my birthday). The Rogues are playing. They are a way cool Scottish Piper band from Houston TX (I think it's Houston) Good looking brutes too (Oooo, men in kilts, is it warm in here?) I plan to be there in me pirate gear, as long as my kids aren't too embarrassed. They may duck tape me and leave me in the van if I go too overboard (in their opinion) It's a really good time, folks. Been going for the past few years.

Anytime we set sail with the Royaliste, it is bound to be an adventure. But none of us forsaw the adventure that we had this weekend, as three centuries of war machines came together for a battle reenactment the likes of which may have never been seen before!! We sailed out from Sausalito and headed towards Angel Island, where we were to engage our adversaries, the canoneers of the Ft. Reynolds West Garrison. We passed the island at a distance, then looped back, closing in for the attack. The cannoneers were positioned high on the upper end of the parade ground, so the Royaliste's guns were raised and we fired a broadside as we came around the edge of the rocky coastli…

During the peaceful and TOTALLY INNOCENT boat parade to celebrate Conch Republic Independence day, the conch republic navy lead by the Schooner 'Wolf' we were once again attacked by the evil US Border patrol. I am pleased to let everyone know that we did not take this without fighting back! With stale cuban bread, tomatos and water hoses, and back up from the conch republic army onshore and the airforce overhead (400 rolls of toilet paper were thrown to their deaths in defence of our Island nation, bombs away!) we drove the Coast Guard cutter back to port with TP in their riggings. That evening the Coasties were brought to the Schooner Wharf in chains and gracefully s…

Would anyone from this grand group be headed to the Mystic Realms Renaissance Faire in Pine Hill, NJ next weekend? If so 'ave ye been there in the past? I'd be most interested in talking with anyone who has been there or is going. I be headed there myself on Saturday, first faire of the season for me, although I was to go to one this weekend to check it out for next year, (potential for selling me wears there and all ye know) but due to the unexpected "illness" of me land ship, which will be in "dry dock" for repairs until the begining of the week I'll 'ave to miss that one. yours aye Kat

The Santa Barbara Heart of the Forest Faire is back! The Faire is run by the son of the founder of RPF/N&S (Phyllis) Kevin Patterson. The dates are May 8-24. Here the info: http://www.forestfaire.com/index.html This site of this faire is more like the old Agoura site. A lot more trees nearer the ocean etc. The last few times it was held it was a far better faire than Glen Helen! So if you want t break from the heat of SRPF give this one a try! Maria

On May 1 & 2 I will be hosting a benefit for the Sail San Francisco Scholarship fund. The event will be held at my pier in Sausalito California. This is a boat show and more! Local marine craftsman will display their goods and services. Sea Shanties groups will perform on both days. Sail San Francisco is very active in promoting traditional maritime skills for both young and old. The organization is involved with the many tall ships that visit our beautiful bay. I hope to see you then! more info at www.mcgrathpacific.com or /www.sfsailing.com/ Cheers Bully MacGraw
