I'd like to know how many of you like to take yer beasties along on your adventures? Below are a couple of photos of Cloudy, my triton cockatoo. He's wearing a "flight suit" in the picture with a skull and cross bones on it. The suit is a lycra body suit with a safety harness, that gives us a bit more security when we go out (and with it's built in diaper, it keeps my pirate coat clean!!) At the bottom are a couple of links to sound files so you can hear a few of his words. I'm counted over 100 words and phrases that he knows. Cloudy is approximately 30-something and was trained for the Baretta television series. However, due to his extreme dislike of men, he didn't …

Ok mates... I've got this friend who feels underqualified to be a pirate. I think (nay, I *know*!) she's got it in her to join our sweet trade, but she don't be feelin' right about lettin' go with an ARRRR. Says she holds it in! What can I be tellin' her? And just what makes ye a bonafide qualified pyrate, anyway? Help me out, mates!

Arrr... I had me a few nautical dreams in me time, and I was wondering if ye had some too... Fer starters, and probably the root of the fixation: My friends and I have long aimed at putting our meagre funds towards buying a chunk of the New Zealand coastline, building a galleon and living the lives of the SeaDogs... Ooooooooh yeah, never far from my mind. And this must have been the cause of my dream: I dreamt that I was on a jetty, stratching out from a swamp into a clear sea. The jetty was connected to some kind of small building. There was a little kid hanging around, and he was asking me if I was a pirate. "Indeed , I be." rang the appropriate response, and th…

Well now it's my turn for surgery. On Thursday morning, Feb. 19th, my back will be operated on. No one has seen me since Ojai last year and since then, the pain has been horrendeous, walking is more like Frankenstein. It turns out that bone has grown to the point of almost severing my spinal cord and two vertabrae are out of kilter. Originally the doc was hoping just removal of the bone would do the trick - a two hour operation but, after seeing the new X-rays today has changed that to a four hour operation. I will have to have the vertabrae fused and pins and a rod put in. Now I'm only suppose to be in the hospital overnight providing no problems, so keep you're f…

Some of you may know already from my facebook posts that my 9 year old nephew was put into the hospital recently for a brain tumor. Brennan had massive headaches and they went from La. to Houston for treatment. The tumor is really big and at the base of his brain. Recently he had a biopsy done and they sent him home as they awaited results.... They came in today. Brennan has a really aggressive cancer. It is so bad the Dr.'s told my step sister that they held no hope for him, that if it had been found in an arm or a leg they would have amputated the limb. But with it being so close to the brain, so big and so aggressive they think even with him starting chemo that …

Hi everyone! I'm new to the forum so I thought I'd make an introduction topic. I'm Jenna, 15, from Michigan. I've been obsessed with pirates and anything relating to pirates for a while now. I also love Pirates of the Caribbean and especially Hector Barbossa. <3 I really enjoy reading and writing. Hm...I guess that's it for all. I look forward to meeting some of you very soon! Oh, I also love to talk so if anyone wants to chat, feel free to drop me a PM!

Here's a little tavern name 'generator' I came up with a year or so ago for laughs. I just came across it and thought you might enjoy. Just pick one word from each of the two columns. Note, I apologize in advance if the spacing doesn't work out right. Salty Mermaid Running Cutlass Scurvy Dog White Cannonball Infamous Wench Ugly Maiden Raving Sea-horse Drunken Spaniard Blue Devil Wandering Schooner Loose Sea-monkey Roving Plank Splintered Mug Steaming Rum Red Iguana Rusty Sailor Black…

Hey, all. Some of you have noticed that my post rate has been down quite a bit lately, that I went missing there for about a month. Well it seems I was busy trying not to die. The short of it is that I had my appendix removed at the ripe old age of 51. Indications are that it should have been done at 50. I am recovering. The long version is that my appendix didn't go down like a normal appendix where the victim gets excruciating pain in the lower right abdomen, goes to the hospital, has it removed and is back on the street two days later and to work a few days after that. No, mine had been chronically infected for anywhere from eight months to a year, the infection s…

hello. new guy here, i have been wanting to do a pirate costume for awhile, finally got around to it. i am basing my look on the first mates from the POTC but being careful about buying things to make it as historically accurate as possible. a lot of the things in those movie are not accurate. so stylized accurate??? i mainly go to sci-fi conventions. and love doing historically costumes to give the trekkies a hard time. but i am member of the 501st legion a starwars costume group. even at these cons, most pirates you see are captains so that is why i am making a first mate. got my slops and my buckle shoes.......and everything else but still waiting on a few items t…

Just wanted to drop in and introduce myself. My name is Sarah and after two ReenactorFests of hanging out with the Crewe of the Archangel I decided that I should probably join their ranks (plus, you can never have enough historical clothing in your closet!). I have been involved in living history for about the past 14 years and am currently involved in WWII after getting bored with Civil War. I look forward to joining the Crewe at events - as well as meeting others. Sarah P.S. Probably should add that I live in Central Wisconsin

It's time for the Secret Gift Exchange! Those of you who've been around know we've coordinated this event for more than five years with a reasonable amount of success and a few of us/you were looking forward to it again this year. If you're not looking forward to it, you can move along, or you can blame your compatriots who are. Or you can just blame me, I like this event. We've had a lot of changes here in the last few months, over the last couple of years we've seen a substantial drop off in Pub usage. Many of us who are still here, have been here for years; as we go through our lives our time in the Pub waxes and wanes. I'm sure you'll all agree that we're thankful …
