I know the Ga. ren fest only allows blades that are peace bound, but I'm not sure their policy on pistols n such.

If you've be wondering why I've not been much in evidence on this board lately, I was in a mishap on July 10 that kept me offline for a bit. I thought it might be instructive to pass this on. I was at a meetup with some of the crew of the Juryrig (as nice a group o people as yd ever want to meet, by the way), and had spent a lovely afternoon shooting my doglock, shooting Duncan's giant slingshot, and helping set up his new period tent, eating way too much food, etcetera.. As evening wore on, someone suggested we start the fire, which was set in a metal fire ring. I decided to fire it up in traditional fashion, laying a small amount of powder in the kindling, then usin…

Aye, ye think by the ocean it would be cool, but NOOOOOOO! We suffered through horrible heat and humidity on Friday during set up of our camp, and on Sat. entertainin' the guests. On Sunday we had a wee bit o' relief when the temps went down a couple o' notches. I got to meet Privateer and his fine wife, an' I do think they enjoyed the show PRP puts on, "The Tryal of Anne Bonney and Mary Read". Here's some pictures o' some o' us here at the Pub. Red Maria (btw- the lantern she's standing next to came off the Interceptor of the POTC movie) Black Hearted Pearl Rumba Rue (yes I know me eyes are closed, I t'was enjoyin' the shade) Here's a few of us Port Royal Pri…

I hate it when threads get soooo long you have to keep scrolling to get to the new stuff so.... I had posted that I have a new site dedicated to the Pirate Re-enactor/Living Historians persuit of an authentic interpretation.... Well, I now have a Pirate's Library page up and running! Just Go to http://www.gentlemenoffortune.com/index.htm and click on the Pirate's Library link (Tews Flag) If you think I have missed any significant work, please let me know. The problem with a lot of "pirate" books is that they re-hash a lot of the same info about the same pirate's bio. So if I missed a book with a lot of meat that is not covered in other tomes.... please pipe up!

Ethan was born at 10:58 pm on August 30, weighing in at 7 pounds 6 ounces. Thank you all for yourt kind words adn comments on the nursery pics I posted a while ago, and now we finally have our beautigul boy to enjoy his little nautical play palace.

Ahoy maties! Some of you met me at the Tall Ships Challenge in New London this past weekend as a quiet wench with a cutlass. Coastie has converted me to the joys of plundering, pillaging, and looting with some of the greatest characters around. It's good to be here! Cheers!

Ahoy and avaast ye, maytees!!!!!!!!!!.......I figure it be a reasonable time to post this, as soon I'll be done fastenin' planks, and able to concentrate on putting up the cyber connection to this organisation. 'PRIVATEER!......Inc.' is now a fledgling, legal non-profit organisation with a living history theme of sail training and reenactment of maritime events, mostly involving, but not limited to the Tallship Royaliste. At this point this is primarily a thrust to begin her restoration and maintainance in order to campaign the vessel late this year and for sure the 2005 season.....Any and all interest in our formation and pursuits, be it by participation, donation, or ge…

Please forgive me for probably bringing up an ancient subject, but I've been absent for a while...raidin' other foru...erm...ports...and so I've missed quite a bit. But, having just been to the PA Ren Faire, and planning to go a couple more times this year, I got to wondering about what would be in a real female pirate's wardrobe. I am not comfy in traditional 'pirate wench' attire, tho Mr. Das would certainly love me to dress that way. :) But in mid-August there is no way in hell that anyone is gonna squeeze me into a vice-like bodice. And the skirts (esp. with underslips and all) are just too hot for me. I know it's said that female pirates would dress like men.…

Please friends, 'scuse this topic if ye see it as a dark light. As most of ye know, centuries ago the world was different: across Europe was a land no one knew too much about. Places on the other side of the globe had only started to be colonized. The only real means of travel to the new world were by boat. This led to the golden age of piracy as the mother country tried to keep in touch with her colonies. But this is something ye already knew. Then came the trains, the cars, the planes, and the just newly discovered space travel. Along side that, we can talk to people halfway across the world in seconds. I can turn on my TV and find out if there's a fashion show in Pa…
