Me fair wenches & I have a performance coming up and we needs some brushin up on our pirate-y lingo. I was thinking of immersion as the only real way to pick it up natural -like. But since going to Tortuga is out of the question, can anyone reccommend a book, movie or the likes for such. I was perhap thinking thar may-be a book from the golden age which may still be available, if not, a fairly resonably authentic movie i could watch o'er & o'er. whatdya think? I am, well, obscenely well-read. (I'm also well obscenely-read- just finished Fanny Hill, Memoirs of a Woman of Pleasure) But my (figurative) pirate literature merit badge is far off. Exceptin' the immortal Treasure Island, what is on the absolute must-read, neccessary to leading a truly pirate lifestyle reading list? I find that pirates are few and far between on my bookshelf. Suggestions? Anything vaguely piratical is encouraged!!!! I need something to read!!! The Libidinous, Literature-Lusting Lass, Saucy Kate

Pyracy Pub is a noncommercial site I do as a hobby. I get a lot of fun out of it, so you don't need to feel any particular obligation. I enjoy running a "virtual pub" and lately I've been promoting one of my other nonprofit projects on here "United Universists" (Check it out if you're a heathen). ...but the bandwidth costs have been going up higher than expected of late, and so I've installed a "donation" button below the logo above, which you can click if and when you're in the mood to donate some coins. It'll just make it a little easier for me and help ensure Pyracy Pub's future growth and success, and prevent me from ever having to install commercial advertising... b…

I Got Your Back" I am a small and precious child, my dads been sent to fight... The only place I'll see his face, is in my dreams at night. He will be gone too many days For my young mind to keep track. I may be sad, but I am proud. My daddy's got your back. I am a caring mother. My son has gone to war... My mind is filled with worries that I have never known before Everyday I try to keep my thoughts from turning black. I may be scared, but I am proud. My son has got your back. I am a strong and loving wife, with a husband soon to go. There are times I'm terrified in a way most never know. I bite my lip, and force a smile as I w…

I just got this email, can anyone make a suggestion or would anyone like to write one very quickly? I'll forward them any suggestions. "...We are a Scout Troop in Vancouver, Canada, and we are doing a pirate theme camp in 1 week. I am looking for a short, but good pirate ghost story that the leaders can act out in costume for the kids around the campfire. Any ideas? Jennifer Harrison 10th Richmond Scouts Vancouver, BC"

Is there anyone out there who enjoys making there own movies regarding pirates? back in the day, (summer 01) my cousins (aka lumin), sister, and i made a movie titled "The Invasion From Pirates Cove." This movie was a half hour long and starred 4 cousins fighting off 2 pirates...it was very intense...and very scary at times! The pirates wanted there treasure, which the cousins stumbled apon, it ended in a dramatic and climatic fight i nwhich the cousins were victorious! anyone else make movies? By the way, my cousin and i are newbies to this site, but we thouroughly enjoyed TLAPD. Arrr, I be a film maker, and you wenches and land lubbers should be 2!!!

In 1668 Henry Morgan and a band of pirates numbering around 500 sacked and plundered the town of Portobelo. Prior to getting underway with his fleet of 8 ships Morgan had gained the approval of Port Royal's Governor Moodyford, it took a little grease to ease the skids but he finally argeed. Several days into the trip, off what is now Costa Rica, Morgan told his destination to all of the Captains in his fleet. They, as Moodyford had thought that his plan was a little more of a suicide plan rather than a feasable venture. Just as Morgan had sold Moodyford on the plan he also sold his Captains and finally the crew for the big score. Morgan's advantage, as he saw it, w…

Bein' as there's no fanart or fanfiction section, I thought my best responses would be here. I be seekin' aesthetic judgement an' fact-checkin' from ye, the best pirates I've ever laid eyes on, and ye may lay to that. This be the script for the sample issue of a series of six comic books chronic'ling Anne Bonny's life from her entry on New Providence to Rackham dryin' in the sun. It be called...Wooden Ships and Iron Women. http://www.geocities.com/glorfinstein/wsiw.htm And this be the test art, from me murderous galley sla...artist, Tevildo de la Rosa, the Whirling Spanish Devil. http://www.geocities.com/glorfinstein/annesketch.jpg

sunset....Port Royal...Sept.19, 1690.....dozens of ships around... all of them owned by pirates..... (it's rough on the history and there's no telephones, so work with me here) Henry Morgan is kicked back on deck, grabs the horn and shouts over to Blackbeard on the next ship, "Avast! Whadya' doin'?" Blackbeard:"Nothin' much, watchin' the sunset, drinkin' a rum... whadya' doin?" Morgan:"Nothin' much, watchin' the sunset, drinkin' a rum... " Blackbeard:"True." Morgan shouts to Sam Bellamy's ship nearby:"Avast! It's Blackbeard!" Bellamy:"Avaaaasssst!" Blackbeard:"Avaaaasssst!" Morgan:"Avaaaasssst!" ..and on it goes... Vane, Rackham, Bonnet, and others chime in, the…
