The theatrical box office might be under siege, but it fought back and actually gained some ground in 2006. As the box office year, which will conclude with the New Year's holiday weekend, winds to an end, the total national tally is headed toward an estimated $9.42 billion, which would represent an increase of nearly 5 percent compared with 2005's $8.99 billion. Certainly, records were set along the way: The biggest cheers surrounded the record-breaking opening of "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest," which set both an opening-day and single-day record of $55.8 million when it bowed July 7, supplanting the mark established a little more than a year earlier, when…

Non-computer types. I'd like to get some for our students here at school and need some reviews as to spend the doubloons wisely. I saw Bilgemunky had some descriptions of the various games that are coming out. BUT, what pirate "board games" that are currently on the market, do you have that you enjoy? With your kids . . . drinking buddies . . . Rennfaire mates . . . crew . . . Any links, pics and/or prices would be greatly appreciated. TIA

On the side of the box is the story about Davy Jones and Tia Dalma. A pirate friend recieved hers, and she pre-ordered the dvd the day before the movie was in the stores. A special POTC case with a story, well I guess for me that is worth fighting for. I know I am going to be hitting the rum early this year. My nerves are shot just from Circuit City! LOL

Weird but true.. Here in Holland we could pre-order the two dvd set at this shop (Freerecordshop) and it would include a film poster and dvd of other movie free. I went and payed and got the poster and movie dvd and..the two dvd set box with the extra's!! I'm so happy WWOOHOOOOOOO So, here's the menu's for the extra's, sorry to say..no deleted scenes.. ??!! Man i was looking forward to that but on the box it always says Bloopers and they're not on it so that's on the first dvd i guess so if it doesn't say deleted scenes at all..i guess that's not on I also hate that there's no spoken comments with actors, only authors. All in all not comparable to the first…

OK, So this set does not exist, (Yet) But what about a set of Wizkids Pirates Constructible Strategy Game based on the ships of real pirates from the pages of history. I was discussing the Bottom of the barrel scraping going on at Wizzkids with their latest Pirates CSG offerings, at the shop where I buy my cards, and they suggested a "Pirates of Infamy" Set. This is one for the purists, and would contain Pirates and pirate hunters from history, and the ships in which they sailed. The Flavour text would be a brief description of the history of the character or vessel. As a game it would be no less valid than the existing sets, but it would have an additional educat…

...A game piece! Okay, now I can share it.... Some of you may remember when the Original POTC came out; Ted and Terry honored me by naming the island that Jack was marooned on as *Black Sam's Spit*. I have been informed officially that next year, when the final, updated POTC Monopoly game comes out.... *Black Sam's Spit* will be where New York Avenue would be. : ) I get a whole 15 seconds fame! Yo Ho Ho! (Sorry guys, had to share) Iron Bess True Island Wench

As usual, the History Channel has a great premise for a show; they present the facts in an entertaining and educational fashion, complete with wonderful footage of skilled re-creators; then at the end of the show, they get preachy and claim how pyrates are basically scum of the earth or, as I believe they put it from a quote, "the enemy of all mankind". To me, this is like having a group of scientists run a controlled and well-designed experiment all the way to the conclusion, only to present their summary as "although the data claim X, we believe it's really Y". Is it just me, or does anyone else notice this?

The little guy of Jack's crew. I never realized my guyfriend knows him! He worked with him on an episode of Just Shoot Me. Marty was part of the Village Little People and my guyfriend was playing a club owner. This past weekend was the autograph show in Burbank and Marty was there to sign stuff from both Pirates 1 and 2. I wasn't able to go, had to work all weekend, but my guyfriend goes to them all the time. Marty saw him and called him over to his table. They talked about this and that, hadn't really seen each other since they did that episode. He said it was good to catch up and it'd be cool to hang out with him more. He's just a nice guy! :)

Hi there. I am looking for a book, well actually a series of books, based on pirates that I read when I was younger. In the books, a young child somehow found a way into a fantasy land full of pirates. He was told of the world by his grandfather, and then, in the last book, he found his grandfather in the fantasy world but eventually returned to the real world. I have a vague recollection that one of the ships was called 'The Golden Dragon' but that could be wrong. I read these books whilst age 9, in the early 90s. I have no real idea when they were published, but I would think sometime after the 1950s. I'm sorry if all of the above sounds rather vague but my recoll…

If any of you locals would like to have Ted and Terry sign a copy of the DMC DVD on Tuesday the 5th of December, they will be doing so here on the Studio lot for a few hours that day. Now I can gate a few people to come aboard, not a whole hoard so first come first served as they say. If your interested let me know although... you should be aweare the the cost of the DVD will be a little higher then if you bought the thing at Target. Most likey sticker price so the autographs will come at a slight cost I would venture to say. Up to you what it's worth to you but I thought I'd put out the offer for those that might want to indulge. Offer stands open to all u…

I have been asked to come up with a list of Pirate movies available on DVD here in the UK as part of a promotional event that we are doing for the DVD release of Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest, for our local HMV store. Whilst reserching, I found this film, Due out on DVD in England on 27th of November. Pirates of Treasure Island, Starring Lance Henriksen as Long John Silver. This title seems to be getting a very low key relese, which is seldom a good sign, so I was wandering if anyone had seen this movie, and if it was worth spending my hard earned cash on.
