What would be the best tent type we can use as vendors for the festival? Thought about just one of the typical white ones open sided from walmart or the like. This will be our first time attending and any suggestions would be a big help. BarbosaThe Iron Hook

I'm new to everything here, but am looking to go to this event! I have heard so much about it! I live in the Boca Raton, FL area just over a year now! And am driving down for the weekend of the Dec/2nd thru the Dec/4th. I have not picked a place to stay as of yet... But am looking! Like I said this is a first for me and am looking for someone else going who might need a lift down or can meet when there? And maybe help me get around? Show me all the fun things to do at Pirate Week. Contact me if you like, and we can chat. No strings! ROAMING ROMAN! Roman62@aol.com

The dates of the festival have been tentatively set for Nov. 25 through Dec. 4 this year. We will have a soft pirating weekend Nov. 25-27, but wanted to shift the full festival to a full week to get away from the dreaded high rates of flying near Thanksgiving and to create a more energetic week of activities without so much downtime. New this year: A larger Thieve's Market - we have reduced the price of boots substantially to get more vendors in the market and to make it easier to make a profit. We already have some really good vendors, including a company that makes authentic hooks. Evening Pub Runs & Parties - we will be doing pub runs every evening ending with a…

So what is the norm? Many of our shipmates and crew plan to attend this year (more so since we're making it our offical honeymoon!) and I've been wondering what the norm is. Do most stay in hotels? Do they have Camping? Are they're "Rules" or "Requirements" if you do camp? LOL, yeah it's an idiot question but I figure I best ask it now rather then later. :)

Here's a fun addition to this year's event: The Pirates in Paradise Festival and The Pyrates of the Coast will be hosting the 2004 National Walk the Plank Championships during the festival, Nov. 25 to Dec. 5 in Key West. This is a sanctioned event which will pit contestants against one another in four key areas: Costume/Attire; Style; Plea; and Splash. A panel of esteemed pirate judges will be officiating the event in which contestants will take their best dive into a watery grave. Only the best will be called upon to compete in the finals while those eliminated watch silently in shame. We're working on the exact date and trying to arrange a ship to add an element of un…

fyi guys...there are low fares to key west right now. i'm sure it depends on what airport you are at but a flight from iad (washington dc) and tpa (tampa) to eyw (key west) are both ~$134 rt w/ taxes. i know merrydeath found one flight from chicago to eyw for ~$143 the other night. worth lookin into... all the dates i've entered are available. i went to travelocity, entered my city/airport codes, then did a search under "flexible dates". good luck!!!

I sincerely question whether there will be a PIP this year. The damage from the Hurricanes from what I've seen on the news is very bad. Even if it were to go on, I doubt many would go. Let's face it, people have lost their homes and businesses and it seems to me that spending money on vendors or even coming to the event may be not on the top of people's list. I think those that live in Florida should try and find out if this event will even happen before others loose their money flying there from out of state. Rumba Rue ** **

Ahoy all! There seems to be some confusion about when Pirates in Paradise is and how long. So here's the scoop. The festival is still 10 days long, from Nov. 25 through Dec. 5. There's the usual balls, parties, pub runs, sea battles, etc. The only thing that has changed is the Thieve's Market. The actual marketplace is a three day event on the last weekend (Dec. 3-5). It will be held at Fort Taylor along with a period encampment, entertainment, fight circles and such. The 10 day festival will culminate at the fort with a big feast in the bricked section (see http://www.piratesinparadise.com for more information). We hope to see everyone for the whole festival, includin…

So, after the lock down on security in airports, and what's allowed as far as cargo, etc. after Sept. 11th, how do those of you who bring weapons to events such as this get them there?

I just thought that I would let everyone know that the pirate encampment and market will be moving from the seaport area to Fort Zachery Taylor this year. We will have a LOT more room for vendors and activities. If you would like more information on preforming or being a vendor, please contact Julie. Key West Pirate

Hi, I've got a few good questions. :) Handicap accessable? My best friend recently had to start using a power scooter. She and I were talking about going to PIP, but we want to make sure she would be comferable, and happy attending in her scooter. Have you seen others in Scooters/Zippies (power wheel chairs)? We're also discussing putting up a page on hanicap accessable events for enactors/fairegoers, and the ins and out of it, so that even those in wheel chairs or on crutches can attend. If you can offer imput that would be wonderful! Izzy
