I thought I would just check and see if any of our fellow pirates were involved in the 259 car pile up on the Autobahn. The wreck was spread out over 20 miles. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/europe/germany/5871271/Autobahn-crash-involves-259-cars.html

Well it appears there are more than a few of us who burn past the midnight oil..well past...Aye the insomniacs unite! To fit the bill - how many of the following apply? 1) Routinely stay up waay past 1? (1..scoff..amatuers) 2)Think nothing of some wildly inappropriate snack at 3 am? 3) Or before creeping into bed.. just before the sky lights up signaling you that you stoically shirked sleep, do you swear "tomorrow night I'll sleep" 4) Does the constant math of .."If I go to bed at 2 I'll get x hours of sleep ..which steadily melts into well, ok now it's a quarter after, so if I go to bed at X instead, I'll get x hours of sleep. Which dissolves into a short nap follow…

(Re-creating yet another topic that appears to have been deleted last year. ) I was just enjoying a Butterfinger candybar when it occurred to me that I used to really dislike Butterfinger candybars. I liked Kit Kats or Twix or Whatchamacallits. Now I like Butterfingers. That got me to thinking about the candy thread we used to have (which is now gone apparently) and ruminating on candy. Candy thoughts or memories anyone?

Time Team America debuts Weds July 8 at 8.00 pm with a look at Roanoke Island and Fort Ralegh. Time Team America is the long awaited (by me, anyway) version of Time Team, a long running and highly popular show in Britain (Channel 4) dealing with archaeology. Since I'm familiar with the original Time Team, it'll be interesting to compare the two versions. You can see a bit more info here---> http://www.pbs.org/opb/timeteam/ but for me, it's going to be a Must Watch.

I watched Whale Wars the other day and I got to thinking. These people aren't any better than the Somolia pirates. What do you think?

So what does your desktop look like? Show it, share it, clean it, see it. This is mine

We already have threads for pictures of people in garb, or pictures of their pyrate dens, etc, and I know a lot of us have digital cameras. So, I though it would be nice to have a place where you could post a picture of anything you thought you'd like to share. NOT anything X-rated, please! I'll start with a picture I took at dusk from our front deck. Everything was just so beautiful after the snow fall. And here's basically the same view, next morning when the sun came out.

Man all I want to do is sleep. I am so out of it this week. I hardly even know what day of the week it is. Why am I doing this to myself? Does money really mean this much?

My wife is a Sims fanatic/addict, and I am looking at juicing up our new(old), P.O.S. PC It has no speed whatsoever, I am working with an 855 mhz processor, and 512 mb ram... So, my question, since I am juicing it up purely for the Sims 3, is can anyone tell me if this chipset will be powerful enough? DECENT CHIPSET! Thank ye kindly...

I don't like this new format of the list of messages. I want to go back to the old way of having the last 10-15 messages posted.

Nice. I can't beat that. I saw $3.19 at the station I paid $3.39 two days ago. But I found another station at $3.13 I think it was. Of course, across the street here it was $3.56 this morning... these guys are notoriously high.

I'm not even going to try to pretend to know why someone would do this, and to an innocent animal! Even if you arent a cat person, ANY animal that died this way would be wrong.. I"m all for tossing the book at this woman and trying her as an adult. http://www.nydailynews.com/news/ny_crime/2...n_the_oven.html

Ok... in our non sexist world that we now live in, men can't go to Men's only clubs (kinda funny that there are a whole buncha Womans only clubs... go figure) SO this is a place fer MEN to belch and fart, and just be a MAN... pull up a chair, light up a stynky ceegar... and a fish bowl o brandy.... scratch yer arm pits... fart(well ask Jeaves ter point the fan in that direction) and just be the gross men that we are... Sure I know that Women will peek in here..... but how can we offend them if they ain't permitted in here ? So the first rule of business is.... !. Any Woman in this room, sneaking in or other wise, is or does not have to be considered a Lady.... Yo…

Someone attempted to make off with the Crown Jewels! All the details are here in the London Gazette, right hand column, about one third of the way down, beginning with "Whitehall, May 9. This Morning about seven of..." It would appear to be the work of that dastardly villain, Col. Thomas Blood. And you know, since Blood somehow got off the charge of trying to steal the jewels (and to this day, no one knows how he managed that), and since our brave Admiral Captain Henry Morgan was cooling his heels in London at the time, one can't help wondering if the two rogues, steeped in villainy, might have met from time to time. Aye, there's a story...what might they have talked …
