  1. I wanted to tell you MadWomanCheryl...... you and Bill throw one heck of a bash. The food was excellent, the decorations supreme, but, nothing compared to the fellowship that went on there. Katey and I wanted to say thanks for having us there, it was fantastic..... Also.. my little Maggie canot get enough of playing with her treasure. Her younger cousin came over the other day, and it was the first thing Maggie got out for them to play with. She put all of it in the small chest I had with me and she now calls it her own...... typical woman.......... For everything..thanks.. for putting a smile on my daughters face, and keeping it there.... thanks again and so much more........ Flint
  2. My most heartfelt regrets fair lady. Had I known; I would not of made light with my remarks. Again, my deepest sympathy. As far as pub sings in the area..... tell me where and when, and if Fair Katey and I can make it; we'll be there..... Flint
  3. Paisly .. fair lass I have heard those exclaim to say twas not true would cast me in shame Whilest it were planned for us to meet at a fair I was cursed to fail to peek But , Mad Woman Cheryl did come to the save by planning a party where we both would stay Alas and curse the fortunes that be for just after I arrived, you called to say nay At first I did swear it was planned this way you knew I was there and on purpose stayed away But I knew this was false it just couldn't be for a lass so lovely wouldn't be so mean It seems we are fated never to meet but, to be distant friends. who talk pleasent and sweet So to you dear Pailsy I hereby do vow that if ever our ships pass from stern to bow The first drinks on me and mabye the second but lets make it before my wee one gets wedded Flint
  4. I have a small boarding ax. They were primarily used for cutting grappling lines. They were also used a great deal for exactly what they are called. Baording. Ship fighting was close combat. A good boarding ax was a small compact weapon with a powerful and deadly force. Handled properly, according to the history books, it was every bit as deadly as a sword.
  5. Pure fantasy with a heavy medievel scenery. Two major races of people in a life and death war that has been going on for more years then they can remember. There are assassins, elves(tall ones mind ye) and regular looking folks with serious magical abilities ; along with the elves. The assassins are just assassins. But are extremely intrical to the story. It is actually a really good read and kept my interest. It's just one of me treasures that I am trying to part with to help make room for the new baby on the way....... Like I said, the books are in grade a condition and are all hardbacks. Let me know... Flint
  6. I think your completely wrong El Pirata... no pirate would ever be CARRYING a case of beer. swilling it. draining one after the other... pouring it down his gullet while it spills onto his person..... now thos might be other ideas on what a pirate would be doing with a case of beer... ................ just a thought...... Flint
  7. It's The Great Pumkin Cahrlie Brown Nightmare Before Christmas Rocky Horror Picture Show.. for reasons, that if you are not aware of ....I'm not telling. For those of you who know why... shhhhhhhhhhh.. Flint
  8. Capt. William.. I have no idea who or what Montys Wench is. As far as how disciplined were pirates in boarding..... well over all, they were very disciplined. ( to start out ) Considering most records show that they subdued their prey before boarding. They were able to board the ship with relative ease. Those same records describe pirates as not trying to board any ships during a running action. While I know that some pirates did engage in fights, the majority fought as a means to escape, very seldom was the idea to engage in a ongoing batle to take over.... Flint
  9. Stynky.... I swear, I'll send those pics of the baldric to you. It was the same one I was wearing on pirate weekend when you were here. I made mine from one belt purchased at the fair a few years ago. It is extremely long and was only about 20$. I then measured it, cut it to the proper length and re-connected the two pieces in the proper form. With buckles, rivets, and addornments, it cost me about 30$ to make. Again; I know I'm slow, but I really will try to send you the pics...... Flint
  10. Ahoy all.. Since I posted this in the wrong section, I thought I would re-post it here. If anyone is interested, I have the complete death gate cycle books, by Margaret Weiss and Tracy Hickman. They are hard bound and in excellent condition. I am asking $20 plus shipping. If interested, let me know........ Flint
  11. Same here Angus. A direct donation via snail mail would work better for me too. Sooooooo please send me an address to send it to..... Flint
  12. I love MissFortune..... there is just something about a hallowen ship with that name. Good one Bully MacGraw
  13. A lot of the blunderbusses purchased around here are piece mell. That is, A lot of folks I know have the barrell made and then purchase the stock and action from places such as dixie gun works etc. The average cost of THESE pieces run in the five hundred dollar neighborhood. ($500) A little to rich for my blood, at least for right now anyway. Hope that helps....... Flint
  14. Alas.. it seems some things are just not meant ot be. Fair Katey and I will be there on Sat. the 11th. sans little one. Well... one little one anyway. Our little Maggie will be at grandmas that day. Fair Katey tells me that our smallest crewmember won't even be arriving until may. soooo. If there be any chance of seeing you on the 11th Paisly, drop us a cable and we would gladly buy ye a drink....... The Capt.
  15. A most decidedly happy day to you both. May you know nothing but joy for all your years to come..... Flint
  16. Ahoy Mad Mary...... I know that fair Katey is planning on going on the 19th. I'll tell her to check in here and see what is the plan... Flint
  17. Fair Katey finished me ol' pirate coat just in time for fair. Now she plans to get started on a waistcoat. just need to find the right fabric. As for me, I'm working on some new leather projects. ie... belts and vambraces.Saw a set of vambraces in the museum rep catalog. They don't look to difficult. Someone I know ants a set, so I though I would give them a go. If anyone needs patterns for vambraces or moccasins, Tandy leather sells both. For a very reasonable cost too. The Capt.
  18. Thats the very book fairest Rose. It is a fine little book to read. Small and short stories. It's just fun.
  19. No need to apoligize Piratelass. As long as your safe and well, after the hurricane; well, thats all one can ask for. We will meet again,I promise. Flint
  20. Okay, here goes... Mad Woman Cheryl... I am so sorry we missed you at the end. I am glad to have met you. The only thing greater than your personality is your charm. We are very interested in a party on Nov. ! let me know more Paisly.. we were at the blacksmith shop and the tavern and the skum show. I kept looking for a lass in ALL pink. Based on what you said you were wearing, we were almost standing next to one another at the blacksmith if it was you I remember seeing. I regret not actually meeting you. I do hope you had a good time at fair and I swear we will work out better plans and details for a next meeting. Cushy Bottoms.... I never saw ye lass. I promise we looked hard for everyone and I can see where the plans were in need of improvement for next time. But, we were at the proper places at the scheduled times. I told all of you to look for fair Katey as her pic is posted here in the gallery. She was wearing the exact same outfit as in her pic. But, alas, the blame is mine and I will definetly work on a better meeting plan. To Hawkins... You were a joy and a pleasure to meet. One could not have asked for better company and a more social shipmate than you. I cannot wait to share more stories with you and I hope you enjoy the book. Thank you for making the long trek here to fair. I hope you enjoyed yourself. Mad Woman Cheryl. I wrote a lot to you in the e-mail I sent you and PLEASE call me when convenient so I can talk to you. Again I am so sorry to have missed you in the end you and your family were a real treasure to meet and be with... Stynky Tudor.. You are an incredible person with a beautiful family. I am so sorry you had all the mishaps you did on this trip. I hope you enjoyed the festival and thank you so much for coming here. You are a good friend and I am glad to have met you. With a wife and children as lovley as yours; it is no wonder why you smile so much. I hope your journey home was smooth and pleasant. Fair Katey and I cannot wait to travel your way soon and see you again. Soft winds my friend and may the seas always be good to you. To everyone we met. thank you so much for putting the time and effort into making this event. It makes me all the sadder when I realize those who were there and we missed. I vow to you Paisley; we will make you first on our list for next time. I do hope all of you enjoyed yourselves and I hope we can all get together again. Mabye next time one of us will remember to take a few pics... although there is that one pic I have of pirate Molly coming down the slide..... Oh and before I forget... Pirate Molly... You a the finest gem to ever be found in the sea. Stynky is a lucky man. Fair winds to you lass and a smooth sea..... To you all.. the same.... until next time .......... Flint
  21. Paisly. they sell weapons at the fair, but, there is a catch. When you buy a weapon at fair, depending on what it is you buy, the vendor either holds the piece for you... wraps it up like you wouldn't believe so you can carry it around with you... or you are escorted to you vehicle where you may leave it. Trust me, they can get a lot more anal than that about stuff. But, the fair is pretty cool and a lot of fun with extremely few problems or accidents, due in part to these types of rules. Thanks for posting the tag line from the site, I hope it helps everyone.
  22. You had better read the web page Hawkins...... There are NO weapons of any kind allowed. Not even theatrical . Just a reminder. Katey's pic is in the gallery. If anyone sees her at the opening, call out to us. Otherwise, we will try to meet everyone at the blacksmith shop. It is very easy to find. Either read the map in the hand bill or ask anyone. We are really looking forward to seeing you all. Flint
  23. Coins just aren't my thing. I have a few holed coins from the orient. They aren't very old, but they look cool. If anyone wants one to use as a necklace, let me know. I'll part with a few who want one. Have had a chance to buy real wreck coins, but, passed them up. Like I said, not my thing. The web site that fair Katey posted in delaware.....discover sea museum... has a wide array of authentic wreck coins for sale. Gold silver, etc. They come in a wide range of prices. Check them out if your interested. enjoy.... Flint
  24. Does anyone have any info on what a tower pistol is. ie. when does it date from and other than being very long, what are it's specs. I have an opportunity to get one and just wanted some more info. I already have a kentucky flint and am getting a queen ann kit. This chance at the tower is really good and I will more than likely get it. Just wanted to know if it is period or at least what period does it hail from... Flint
  25. If everything goes as the weather man says.... than all will be over before sat. Fair should have no problem and we still are planning on being there. As well as seeing as many as possible at our place later. The Capt.
