Thr honest truth to this.... in my opinion.... is that we would never know how we would do. A great many of us are re-enactors and play the parts , but, as much as I like to think I could handle it, I simply don't know. When faced with adversity a great many man will rise to the occasion, while others will fall. I like to think I would rise to such occasion. I also like ot hink if I were back in time, I would be wealthy enough to not have to care about it.... But, who knows.... Flint

They already here... The tall ships started making thier way in to the harbor already and some of them are already in dock. They will be here until the fourth and then they will parade out....

My son was baptised today, and I got totally drunk tonight at the reception at our house... hahahahahaha..... It was not intentional.. .... please read that part Karen............. Black and still, and nothing but calm everywhere. But, it wasn't calm. There was something in the wind. Nothing to see, but you could very much feel. THERE.. cried a man at his gun. He leaned over the rail and pointed into the darkness. From aloft the call came in even louder..... sail ahead......Each man strained his eyes, but, it didn't take long. A grand war ship loomed into sight. Out of the darkness and enveloped in a mist of red she sailed. The deck was awash with activity. Each man readying his gun. Hatches being closed and latched.. a table below made ready for the surgeon....etc.... The men dropped like spiders from thier watches and took thier positions on deck. Shot and powder was brought out and made ready. Matches were lit and placed by each gun..... I stood there looking through the glass for a beter look at the ship. She was easily our equal or better. I searched for what proper action to take.......................

what she is wearing most definetly looks like leather As everyone has said.... it is very obviously not aged...... For this look on any belt, just start with clean leather and apply the leather stain. Heres where you can control the look of it..... the less dye you apply, the light the color of the belt.. Apply a small amount of dye and then proceed to wipe it as much as possible in as wide an area as possible. This will spread the stain and lighten the color.. The more stain applied, the darker the look.... Also you most definetly do not need use sandpaper to distress the leather. As a matter of fact, I strongly reccomend that you do NOT do this. Also, if you apply a VERY LITTLE amount of water to your cloth, you can spread the stain even thinner and lighter One way of quick aging the leather ( again I do not reccomend this ) Is to not stain it, but, first soak it in a water bath so as to staurate the leather and stain it unevenly. I have see this done by others and have seen mixed results. Some good and some bad. I have seena lot of amateurs do this and have had very poor results. I also suggest you get some scrap pieces and apply the dye to them in different forms so you can preview your results ahead of time. This will save you money in the long run and help you learn more and more about what you are doing. I have been working with leather for a long time now and have learned one very important lesson....... ASK QUESTIONS from everyone you can who works with leather. When at fairs and events, go to the leather crafters and ask short questions , I have never met one yet who will not answer you or help you.... Good luck........ if you really want, I would be happy to walk yo through naking your baldric or belt and give you whatever help in any stage you need it on.. just feel free to ask........ The Capt.

Rouse the crew and call to quarters, I ordered. I reloaded me gun and strapped on me swordbelt. I gripped me sword hilt hard to comfort me that it was there. Before I headed back on deck, I also grabbed a bottle and drank back hard the hot burning liquid. I welcomed the burn. It assured me that I was awake and that everything now was real. I bellowed as I went on deck and roused me crew to thier guns..........

Thought I would see if anyone here has any books they would like to sell on colonial america... the american revolution.... the war of 1812.. or of the founding fathers....... or of anything of a similar nature....... Just let me know......... Flint

One note on Colonial House.... it seemed that the cast was unable to set themselves in the time they were supposed to be in. It was supposed to be about putting yourself in the colonies under the rule of England in the 1600"s. Yet, they were constantly arguing about how they didn't do this or believe in this or act like this in modern times and couldn"t or wouldn"t do it in this senerio. The entire point was to put yourself in that time period. The lack of religious support would not have been tolerated. The coming out ..... as said by the cast member... would have been punishable by death. Yes, I am aware that even then , this did not always result in death. Sometimes it resu;ted in banishment or just having the community doing a total shun on the individual. Also, the act of being labled with a letter for a sin or small crime committed was a great deal more serious then. I realize that it was harder to take it very serious in this setting, but, I think the level of comedy it was taken with, was a bit of an extreme. Mind you.... these are just my opinions as I am one of the individuals who liked the show and continues to watch it even now........... and just a footnote..... for all those talking about how these shows won't pick people like us..... it is in part because they want people who unlike us, don't try to re-create or do living history with these things. They want people who this would be an entirely new situation to and would have to learn how to adapt to it..... lets not forget, it is television...... Flint
