The college where I teach has a medical department. In a meeting yesterday, the medical director said that the old worn-out medical skeletons needed to be replaced. Now that be a virtual gold mine for a wench with a pirate guild!! So I quickly offered to adopt her old skeletons and give them a good home. She agreed and if all goes as planned, they will soon have shiney new skeletons and I'll have the old ones, plus some miscellaneous bits and pieces of bones! It occurred to me that other medical colleges probably replace their skeletons after a few years or if a school closes down... I wonder if the rest of the pirates out there might be able to acquire them? Any id…

Mates; I've been readin your articles and many of the books that you've suggested and found that the working knife and marlinspike were the most important tools a pirate/sailor could have. Can any of ye tell me where these might be purchased? I'm also in the market for a boarding axe and have had noluck there either. thanks

Ahoy me fellow seadogs..... I saw this gun kit in Dixie gun catalog. It is a large skeleton or jailers key, that is also a matchlock gun. It is very inexpensive and I think it would make a great converstaion piece. What I want to know, purley out of curiosity, is ..... is there any truth to the history of such a weapon. Dixie was unable to answer the question. So I thought I would ask me mates here. I'm not worried about it being authentic or acurate or even functional. ( although the catalog does list it as a fireable weapon ) I just am curious to know if this type of piece ever did exist or is it just fantasy...... Thanks shipmates.... The Capt.

Especially since we're all broke after the Christmas holidays...collecting the really nice antique weapons like cutlasses and flintlocks is an extremely expensive hobby. I like old weapons, but I like to be able to pay me bills, too. I was searching for some less expensive sort of old weapon that I might be able to build a collection, and was thinking about primitive knives; by which I mean the rough sort of knives that might have been made by frontier blacksmiths. Is anyone familiar with this area of collecting? Are the prices here equally outrageous? I've heard about a book on the topic, but haven't read it yet; title is something like "Primitive Knives, 1700 - 1870"…

I found this on gunbroker.com and thought some of you might be interested. It's caplock, but that's probably better than flintlock for shipboard use. It looks to be a great deal for reinactors. Unfortunately, I'm unable to purchase it right now, so I thought one of you might. Pistol Coastie

Awright lads, Ive a bit of a project, an if any of you have any expertise in this, I'd love ta hear it. In reenactin, I play an early character, one from the mid 1500's, and am desirous of makin a pistol (functional) to wear on me baldrick. I'm thinking, given the early date, that a matchlock would be appropros. So what Im cogitatin on be this: Could I invade, say, Dixie Gun Works or such what for a barrel and flashpan for a flintlock, and then fabricate the lock and match for a period bangstick. Thoughts? My lovely Sparrow-esque hat arrived today from Excalibur Leather, and I am in love. It is much darker than the picture on the website; it looks pretty much identical to Captain Jack's hat, except of course being in a much more "new" condition. Only one problem preying upon me happiness -- the accursed thing doesn't fit me properly! Me family is cursed with having, well, rather large heads (how else does one say it? *grins*); me mum has always had a difficult time of it in trying to find hats that fit. I got the largest size Excalibur offered for the Jack Sparrow hat, the XL, but what I really needed was the 2XL (which unfortunately they not be offerin'). Now, I don't m…

This volume describes an expedition to Madagascar by undersea explorer Barry Clifford and his Team where the wrecks of the Adventure Galley (William Kidd) and the Fiery Dragon (William Condon) were found. Also discovered was evidence of an underground tunnel complex. Signed copies can be ordered from http://whydah.com/store/product_info.php?p...?products_id=35 Regards, Corsair Who, in fairness, must also note that Barnes & Noble has a decent pre-Christmas sale on UNSIGNED copies at the moment.

POTC SWORD F/S One of the aircraft aluminum bladed fighting swords from Pirates of the Carribean. Propmaker Tony Swatton outfitted this sword with a new blade and cocobolo wood handle for my private collection. This is also the same design of sword used in filming Master and Commander (go see it if you haven't already - I die numerous times in the battle scenes!). Asking price is 250 dollars.
