I am looking for recommendations on swivel guns. G Gedney Godwin has an unfinished, unlined brass guns for sale for a decent price. Loyalist arms has one finished and lined (I believe) for sale for a lot more. Has anyone ever purchased one from either of these sources and, if so, what are your opinions. If someone has a better recommendations of sources, I am open for suggestions. I am looking for a gun to mount off a deck and be able to make my opinions known in the wooded valleys and fields behind my house. Just finished building this... Er, I mean I stole it from the limeys... That's why it has all the British markings... Yeah... All the iron parts are hand-forged except the swivel gun. (Yes, it really fires...)

Whadda ya think? He's about 5'4" tall. Unfortunately he's gonna spend a weekend on the gibbet in about a week at Pirates of Paynetown, but that's ok because he's already dead... His name is Thomas Guilford and he's a PYRATE! I managed to scare the dog pretty good this afternoon when I first got him put together. She didn't know what to think of it. My wife's not real thrilled either and has banished him to the guest bedroom because she doesn't want him to freak her out when she gets up for work in the morning... I think the neighbors got a glimpse of him in the yard while I was painting him, but that's ok, they already think I'm completely insane! Tomorrow I'm gonn…

I have a sterling silver poison ring and I'm having its adjustable band replaced with a permanent, fixed size band. The jeweler warned me that the antiquing on the face of the ring would likely become mottled or go away all together. Plus, the band will be like new as opposed to antiqued. So I'm inquiring if anyone here knows how to antique sterling silver. Is it as simple as applying a store-bought product or is there more to it? Is there anyone here who can educate me?

The Lady Rose has undergone a bit of refitting over the last week. Still needs a little paint touch-ups and a few minor things, but for the most part she's ready for Pirates of Paynetown in a two weeks! Here are some pictures. New additions include a weighted leeboard in place of the keel she had last year, an extra jib sail, and painted mast and spars. In addition she has a new rigging system that works better than the old one. More efficient and less likely for me to smack my head with a yard whilst lowering sail. I think she still needs a bigger mainsail and a square sail would be cool and very efficient if I can figure out how to do it. She gets better with every over…

Eh, it's been a while since I've been on this forum and I'm sad not to have found a post on here of who I'm looking for because it only goes 2 pages back. BUT Im looking for the leather maker who makes that lovely muti-pistol holder strap thing, holds something like 6 or 7 pistols across your chest, I know you also make hats. Can't think of who that was or where the website is. Any help I will think you forever

Some time back, Patrick Hand had started a thread about authentic pirate katanas, if anyone may happen to recall. Now, I could've just bumped up that thread, but as I recall it was getting a bit long and unwieldy... At any rate, when I saw this item from Atlanta Cutlery, I just had to think of Pat and smile. Enjoy!

Back in the old days, sailing ships had hatches which were latticed wood. I remember a few decades and a fortnight ago when I used to work for a yacht manufacturer, seeing some of the skilled carpenters making such things out of teak. This is really tricky. I am embarking on a side business of various furniture. This is the beginning of a prototype one of a teak folding table. it has not been fine sanded yet.

Got some new plunder! Well, I will when they finish with some customizing. A new bracelet for the everyday Pirate in me! They are adding dark, sea-blue labradorite cabs into the eyes and a single black pearl into the embrace of one of the arms. I am RIGHT happy with this plunder! (and it feels heavy enough to kill someone if you swatted them with it in a pub brawl!

Well, I figured I'd show off a bit of my work. I've been working marlinespike knotwork for some time now, and I built a forge about a year and a half ago. Now, I'm toying with pewter casting, both for jewelry and inlays for my knives, as well as bolsters for the knives, ideas for decorative pommels, etc. I eventually want to get set up to pour brass/bronze, but for now, pewter it is. Here's a couple pieces of my pewter work so far: I had an old rubber skull keychain, which I added some modeling clay to in order to re-sculpt a couple sections before casting. The picture is fresh-cast, I haven't cleaned up or aged it yet. I'm thinking of using these for beads on some …

So it looks liek we finally are getting approved for a morgage so I have had to cut my "pirate plunder" budget down to almost nothing. So my new project will be to try and make a complete outfit for as little as possible. I have already started converting a find I got at a thrift store for $2 into a waistcoat, pics will follow soon. If anyone has any ideas or tips from things they have made in the past when money was tight please let me know.

Here's a picture of the pirate-themed charm bracelet that I just finished putting together: All of the charms are sterling silver, except the coins, which are pewter. The central figures are Captain Hook and the Crocodile. The skulls are hand-carved Tibetan beads made from ox bone, and the small black beads are made of onyx.
