1) Many of our pubgoers have expressed a desire to meet other pirates in their area, to make new connections, discuss and learn, and rabble rouse locally. Meetup.com has organized a site just for this purpose! Please sign up there. All it takes is your email address and a password, then click "Sign up for updates" and you're done: http://pirates.meetup.com Meetup's great service will speed up the process of getting a piratical interest group going in your area. The Pirate Meetup gatherings will be informal, and aren't meant to replace organized pirate crews - rather, people who meet at Pirate Meetups may decide to start a crew, join a crew, or simply shoot the breeze a…

Ahoy all my fine mateys! I've sailed a few seas about, had some time to collect my thoughts and regain my footing on solid ground. So don't be firin' yer cannons at me without proper warning first! I have been cleared of all accusations and be free to be roamin' my way through these passages of racous living. I might suggest from here on out matey's if'n ye got a problem with someone on these boards, please be takin' it to them personally first before ye be complainin' to the Keeper of the Boards. If'n that don't solve the problem, then do yer complainin' to the proper authorities. Nothin' worse than bein' accused without knowin' what one is bein' accused of! So…

Am I the only one here... Who has never been aboard a pirate ship? Who has never met a pirate? All my life I have been interested in Pirates. I must admit that most of my fascination comes from reading romance novels LOL! The domineering captain and his captive innocent. In all honesty, you learn alot about pirates, their ships, and the era of time from these novels. In HS and college I wrote papers on famous pirates. I would be interested in learning about how you came to be, and about how I can come to be! Thanks and salute

I will be off to the beach in a few minutes for my morning jog. I also hope to spend my day at the ocean, as I so often do. A group of us are going to meet there tonight and have a bon-fire and some drinks and music!

Tell me I've come to the right place for introductions of the new person persuasion? Stumbled in here, hope that if I stumble out, I will do so very happily. Promise I won't leave my sewing lying around, but I don't promise I won't prop up any passed-out pirates and use them as dummies. -Lucky Penny

Pyracy Pub Upgrade
by Guest Angus MacVox- 16 replies
- 1.8k views
As most of you know, I will be upgrading the software here on Pyracy Pub in a few days. You may notice some anomalies before then or while it's going on. Feel free to email me but realize things may be weird for a week or so. The forums will be offline for the day that the upgrade actually occurs, probably on Friday.

No more pub popups
by Guest Angus MacVox- 7 replies
You may have noticed that there were Pop-unders on Pyracy Pub. These advertisers didn't pay the pub, rather, I was partipating in a pop-under exchange. Every 2 times the pub showed a popunder ad, the pub was advertised somewhere else on the web. Anyway, a member had a problem with them at work, and they didn't seem to be doing much good anyway, so I got rid of it.

Ahoy Matey! Does anyone know a good "pirate dictionary" website, or the like? I read something about a "How To Talk Like A Pirate" website somewhere, but can't find it again. Was hoping you scallywags could help me out.

If you where interested in my ship you would say so, but you are more interested in what you look like and the way you talk than being on a real galleon with cannons and fighting the other pirates to be the best. Sofare the well and hope not to see you on the 7 seas, for Iwill board you and make you walk the plank on me endevors at sea............ Capt. bloody Jack Flint

Greetings from the Left Coast of the United States of America! I hail from the Los Angeles area (Burbank, CA) and am a member of that fine Southern California crew, the Port Royal Privateers. I wanted to thank the Forum Captain for setting up this site, I look forward to seeing the activity grow as more sea rovers find this port and drop anchor for a visit.

When I open the front page for NQG, just before I get to the forum, there is a pic of three pirates: a lovely brunette lass, an old salt, as t'were, and one REALLY hot looking rogue raising a tankard... Who are these people??? Especially the swarthy fellow..meeow....

This year is the 200th anniversary of the Louisiana Purchase. It would be interesting to know how this affected the pirates of the area (Jean Lafitte and his gang), and what influence they had on the French, Spanish, and American government before the Battle of New Orleans. I do know that the Americans tried to have Lafitte arrested several times, succeeding once, before the Battle. His crimes were forgiven after he and his band of pirates assisted in that victory against the English. Speak up if you know anything of this subject (and even if you don't) Pyrate Queen

I mentioned before I am working on a Pirate Weekend here in South Jersey. It will be nothing so grand as some of the larger Florida Festivals, however we do some pretty decent fests here. I have attended several and some ren events, but I have never been a participant, and never really analyzed them as to what works and doesn't. So what I'm looking for is suggestions. If you have participated in one, what would you have liked to see done? If you have attended, same question. What events would you enjoy, and what have been your favorites to attend. Do vendors like to set-up at these events, as I can provide a vendor lane. I'm also curious about copyright laws. I might wa…
