  1. That hat is pretty cool indeed :) Not something I'd wear personally (I like plain tricorns) but it looks great on you :)
  2. I have the same problem :) I'm just glad I can sew. And once I've gotten though my to sew list I shall make myself a pair of stays :)
  3. Haha, I'm like that too! My bf has to make sure I don't go near fabric stores when we're on holiday or I'll spend the entire day there :)
  4. If you look on ebay and search on there for skull cameo you'll get some quite a few results :) I've not managed to take a photo of mine yet I'm afraid. The one at Claire's isn't the master replica, but it looks the same and it doesn't open either. I don't think there are any on the market that open. They did have PotC lockets at Claires :) I checked for an opening one in Disneyland Paris, but they didn't have any there either
  5. Hmmm water guns! Too bad I just ordered myself a pair of boots, that's all my funds gone ><
  6. I can heartily recommend Reconstructing History http://www.reconstructinghistory.com/ They actually sell bodies and stays, but also patterns for them if you want to make them yourself. I have 3 patterns from them and I LOVE them to death, very easy to work with, come with historical notes on the garment and very clear explications. Plus if you get stuck, you can always mail Kass and she'll help you out ^^ EDIT: I just noticed I got beaten to it on recommending RH
  7. Over on the Tell no Tales chat I think someone said that you could get smaller replicas of the Dead Man's Chest in WDW. Tia Dalma's necklace is all over the place now, even at Claire's :) If it had been a functioning locket I might have gotten one, but in it's unopening state it doesn't really appeal to me. I did get a skull & crossbones cameo locket of eBay last year, which was originally with a grey backdrop. I turned that into purple with the help of some GW paint and ink It's a nice place to keep a picture of my bf in :) (see you're not the only one).
  8. "frilly tomboy", I know that one :) Another alternative for boning is basket reed ^^ You could of course always go for a pair of stays, you can use those in both fantasy pirate costumes and reenactment, that's what I'm going to do :)
  9. - Benny & Joon - What's Eating Gilbert Grape - From Hell - Sleepy Hollow - the pirates trilogy I've not seen the Libertine yet, because it wasn't out in theatres here in Belgium and our local rental place has only one copy that's currently under reservation 'till the 17th of July (and seeing I'm not in the country then, I'll have to make a reservation at on the 20th when I'm home again). I know it's not a movie, but I quite liked him in 21 Jump Street :) I do remember Cry Baby, and while that's a fun movie, I wouldn't say it's one of his better parts. I did see the Ninth Gate some years ago, and I wasn't that keen on it then. My brother Roel loves it though, and was raving about it to my boyfriend last month. Bert has yet to get around to renting it, but I'm sure we'll see it either this or next week.
  10. *waves from her spot where she's reading a book* Welcome to the pub Bess!
  11. Welcome to the pub, hope you have a great time :)
  12. I know it's a bit late, but welcome nevertheless!
  13. Lucky you, because they sell them for close to $ 300 now *__*
  14. Actually no, several wore shoes. Pintel and Ragetti are two shoe wearing pirates, but there were others too.
  15. I remember that, it's on the bonus DVD in the special edition of Curse of the Black Pearl. They were mumbling on about having an expert on board to make sure everything was as historically accurate on that same DVD too though, and let's face it, while the costumes are pretty, they're not accurate. Well some are, but most aren't.
  16. Wow those are really cool! Where did you get them?
  17. I know you weren't reenacting, I was pretty much replying to what you said, that when you're not reenacting you can wear whatever you please.
  18. Welcome to the pub :) I see you've already pointed to the right sections for the reenactors, so I'm not going to repeat other members. Hope you have a great time here :)
  19. Do they come in silver/pewter colour too?
