Stupidity through osmosis....

Oh wait no...Waugh. I am pretty sure it is the Waugh. I mis read what you typed ....or didn't read it carefully enough. Either way.
-
Mine is from the same pattern as Bean's...so yes, the pleats are a little angled. :)
-
I am useless...I forgot about it due to the RF 5 hubub going on in the house and forgot to mail it. It's almost done....scrapbooked pages...gotta do some lettering. Will mail Saturday.
-
I have posted this before, but it is hard to see because of the pattern in the fabric.
-
My straps are about that wide Lily...I like them a bit wide because then they don't dig in the shoulders so much. :) Just my personal preference though.
-
Glad that you like them....I think I got some good ones of you and the Mrs. :)

Here's the link to some cutting instructions to maximize use of paper if you decide to cut your own. This is only for ten...but you could always cut 2 sheets. :) http://www.ruthannzaroff.com/mirkwooddesigns/tcdiag.htm

We're in. Most ATC swaps I have been in on the stamping forum I am on, are 10 because you can cut 10 cards perfectly out of one sheet of cardstock. but yeah, playing cards work too and they hold up to having a ton of embellishments loaded up onto them. The downside is you have to paint or cover both sides most of the time. :)

I had rubber soles put on my leather soled ballroom dance shoes and that kept me from killing myself on tiled floors and most carpets....I don't know if that is what Mary did or not.
-
Just a little note about my new Fugawee Marthas....I love them. I was comfortable all night Saturday at the ball and didn't have horribly sore feet like I usually do with heels.

Monkeying around Bros. A little bit of dancing. BilgeMonkey being recruited. Comrade Bilge.

MAdDogge & Ra....I mean Rats & MAdDogge.... "COUSIN JOHNNY! Why haven't you picked me up yet!?" Uncle Pete And a little rock star moment.... Followed by a little lovey moment.

Mickey and Kate's Photos I had to delete all the photos and start again, so the old link might not work. I got lost as to what I had and had not posted yet. OH. And I have decided that Pete is my Uncle....Crazy Uncle Pete. Or Comrade Primate, as Mickey calls him.

Kate didn't post all of her photos yet because Kate couldn't get the bulk uploader to work on photobucket and then she fell asleep while trying to post 50 photos at a time.....Kate is getting the remainder uploaded now.

Well....the lukewarm bath relaxes the reed....kinda like how bubble baths relax people. So once it dries, while it is not always perfectly flat, it is easier to work with because it it's not all curled up. Also, it seems to make it a little more flex-y....but I could be imagining that.
-
Lara... Mickey and I have used the half moon reed boning from Kass for oh....4 sets of stays now...I think. We love it. It is easy to work with. But...something we found after the first set of stays....if you soak the reed in a lukewarm bath and then let it dry flat overnight, tis much easier to work with. Common sense, I guess....but we figured it out trial and error. Or trial and struggle....whichever you fancy.

Happy Birthday to my hubby...who is sitting here watching me type his birthday wish on the pub. And MadDogge....he licked the fishtail too. You sure you want it back?

stays and other female costume questions...

They're hussy red silk....it said so on the bolt when I bought the fabric! LOL! Seriously though...it is a red/black changeable silk that I bought when I was working at a ren faire and was going to use it as a fantasy pirate coat thing. -
Steering the discussion back to mantuas for a moment.... Full Length. It's not bustled yet. That is a whole separate can of worms...and I lost my can opener. A closer up detail of the front and stomacher. A very plain stomacher, but I don't feel the need for all of the frippery for this one. I like it a bit simpler with the matching belt. :)

Completed Stays: Front Back -
Pack Bean too. I miss her. I can take some photos....I am bringing all of the cameras and my laptop. :)

It might be, indeed. The problem that I had the most, was figuring out the best order in which to do things, since the pattern didn't really have 'instructions' per say. so are you saying that if I had maybe attached the front pieces to the back pieces at the shoulders, then the tops of the sleeves....before stitching down the sides of the gown? We'll have to talk this weekend because I am not sure that I can explain myself in type well enough.... As for the pattern, she said she was doing it with help of the Arnold pattern...so I am not sure if she is following it to a T or not....which I am sure she will clarify in due time. :) And yes, the stays are lovely....

Lady Brower's mantua looks like it is split down the front, but with it being pinned at the waist the way it is, it could just be overlapping. She indicated to me in PM that she was doing her mantua with the assistance of the Janet Arnold pattern. :)

Wow....gosh....I do hope ya'll are all able to make it. As far as food arrangements go...we all usually try and pitch in and contribute a little something to the dinner and snacking. In the past (there weren't this many of us) Jenny and I brought bread, cheese, summer sausage, apples, etc. Then for dinner she made a fantastic bean soup (which has meat in it, but she made a special little pot for Misson). If anyone else has any other ideas, please do let me know and I will get together with Jenny to coordinate that. Also, since the ship is smack in the middle of downtown, there aren't many choices of food within walking distance. There is a subway a few blocks away. Rise &Dine (good prices and food- only open till 3pm), Bostons (mid-prices range), Teds (fantastic burgers mid range prices), and I think there is a Chipotle...all of those are about a 15-20 minute walk away from the ship. There is a grocery store, but it really should be driven to as it is about 1.5 miles (maybe a little more). Also, I will see if I can get my office to donate parking garage spaces for the weekend. If not donate, maybe a discounted rate. Otherwise there is parking in the police station parking lot across from the ship. I just prefer my parking garage....which is a ten minute walk or so.
