  1. Welcome. We can get snobby at times, just listen then backhand us ...we can be trained. hehe
  2. Yes, in yours. The edge was simply a machine edge, no grommets. It is the one I used as my tent the first year you came to PiP (like that last tidbit of knowledge will actually help).
  3. Missing PiP 2009, heavy canvas drop cloth, waterproof, measurement something like 10 x 12, edges finished with a surger. It was used at the Hide to cover the plastic & styrofoam so it should have been packed in the trailer that the Hide was packed in. Believe it or not it has sentimental value, it would very much like to recover it.
  4. Cool, I am a red head ...heck with all of the red-heads we had in Hampton we could have two or three all redhead gun crews ...and at least one was actually male. lol
  5. I thought Lily Alexander was the feisty redhead. LOL
  6. I agree, discussion is a good thing. I can see both sides on this one but I have to say... are you all sitting... I agree with Hurricane and Mission on this one. I have been visiting the fort since the 2006 invasion ...4 of us stayed at the fort that year and other than the ants it was okay. The beach is fantastic and I love staying there and who knows ...maybe next year. Finally, Logistically speaking having everything in the fort makes sense. Bo, more than your donations of goods, and you have been VERY generous thank you, I think your idea of the DMC is one of the most valuable suggestions to any of the not for profit organizations involved in pirate re-enacting. I think we all owe you a big thank you for that one.
  7. I just traveled to an event partly by bus. One 50lb suitcase and a carry on. One third of my suitcase was taken up by my camping mat but I managed to pack all that I needed for two characters except the black powder (I didn't think I should take that on the bus). I know that airlines are charging more for baggage these days but I still think it would be cheaper than a condo. I was fortunate in that I didn't need a tent. Has anyone considered asking if they can sleep in the protection of the fort walls rather than a tent? Those of you that are not camping could consider rooming together to save funding. Also, there is a way to set up hammocks without trees, don't ask me how, but those of you with hammocks could probably set them up nightly. Maybe some could sleep on the tables and benches that are under the dinning canopy if permitted. All I need is a place out of the rain, a place to wash, a place to dress and a place to charge my CPAP battery because without electricity for my CPAP NO ONE SLEEPS!
  8. Yep... Quartermaster/Tailor Militia Bosin/Escape prisoner Militia ABS/Captains Sister Militia ABS/Escape prisoner Militia ABS/Owner of the local tavern Militia Midshipman/Captains Daughter etc., etc., etc., Seems only a few played one role.
  9. There hasn't been any mention of pyrates being banned from the beach just not camping. The beach could be a nice break at the end of the day ...if I am not too tired to walk out there. lol
  10. Wish I had nothing better to do with my money.
  11. First two legs of the trip home are complete ...one more in the AM. Had a very HOT blast with everyone this weekend. So nice to have so many people turn out at one event. Great show! Thanks to those of you who have been doing this longer than I for your assistance. Thank those of you who are younger for your assistance also! lol Thanks to the organizes of the event and organizers of the crew. It was great to get so many of us so involved this go around. Great to see Gigi, Doubleshot & Dorian and to meet Kiera, Janna, Brad and Laura. I know we have our differences but I really love this family! Can't wait until next time!
  12. Best o f luck to you Daniel! We look forward to your return.
  13. Bertha and Buelah are the 6 lb. guns There are more I am waiting to hear back from Fred who was on the ship. He has been emailed twice and I have not heard from him. Sorry ...Still trying.
  14. Couldn't tell ...they all looked the same to me ...blue.
  15. That explains a lot ...they had me convinced.
  16. Rumba! I didn't think to see you here so I kept silent ...unlike Silent. hehe Happy Birthday Rumba!
  17. You have a point ...if you want to commune with nature you don't have to paint yourself blue or dress up ...or down. hehe
  18. Okay then. Well, if that is your preference ...I have seen SCA people that make me wonder so why not this? Some people don't "get" what we do and I have stated many times that there has to e something wrong with a group of people who get together put on MORE clothing and go out in the hot summer sun rowing a longboat for a fun weekend. These people are at least taking off clothing and running around in the shade of trees. lol To each his own?
