Keep it up everyone!!!!! I'm down 18lbs now since mid january.... 2 lbs more and I'm 1/2 way there.... it's so close I can almost.... ok, not quite touch the midway point yet... but soon enough... Lesse, what have I been doing.... walking an hour a day at a brisk pace while spinning poi so i work the whole body and periodic HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training) and doing the 5 small meals a day. I know i have gained muscle, I can see it, so I am pretty sure I have knocked off even more fat. I am also feeling much better! Woohoo!! God help the men who try to control me as Mary Read at PIP this year :) Diosa

You go girl! I'm around 15 or so.... I'm at my first plateau and i figure I will be here for a while. Doesn't help that hurricane keeps buying cakes to bring into the house....grumble.... I started doing beach walks to boost the body... did 1 1/2 hours today.

Well Syren, maybe I am going to hijack it now!!! So then I get the attention! Ok kiddies... while no one needs to give a crap what I say (and most of you don't) please note that March, while a month that is represented by the god of war, is ending tomorrow. Then, aside from april fools day, we are into happy little fuzzy bunny, hippity hop April.... I expect everyone to be cute and fuzzy little bunnies starting tomorrow and no more mean March warriors.... Hurricane... you first!!! Those who don't....well next time I see you, I'm going to do my baby cry till your ears bleed (if you have heard it you are probably already cringing) and make Animal give you sloppy kisses (Trust me .... start being nice... it is really in your best interest) Love to everyone (cause I really don't give a crap about politics and I sure as hell don't want to argue about them, I would much prefer to enjoy my pirate time) Diosa (hopping like a cute little bunny early... or is that skipping and curtseying... damn absinthe....)

I would agree with ya Patrick. We get the TSA asking questions, and most of the time it's because they really don't know what they're dealing with. Sure, we're around these things all of the time, but they're not. Often, I find if you talk to them and explain what ya got, what you're doing, etc... they're much cooler about everything. I did love West Palm Beach though, one of the TSA women was a pirate so everyone there knew what we were sending through and just wanted to know what we had :) Much easier that way. Just be open and communicative. I often put my cell phone number and name on the outside of the box on a piece of paper that says something along the lines of 'if you need to contact me about the contents... call.... ' and keep my phone on till I get on the plane. Haven't had any problems before, but i figure it can't hurt to be extra accessible. For swords, we use a large thick cardboard box (Think guitar box) with the swords wrapped with cloth inside. We duct tape it shut and also leave a roll of duct tape on the inside of the box so if they do decide to open it, they can tape her back up again. So far, no one has cared because we always tell them what's coming at the gate and they note it. If they know what they are going to see in the x-ray they are not as startled when they see it and don't really care.

Have a fantastic birthday!!!

This is precisely why Hurricane will NOT be attending this event... While true, not necessarily the story telling that would be good for the event....Sigh...sometimes keeping him under control is on par with controlling Animal.

That's it... I'm taking hurricanes two eye patches and wearing them to protect my stomach from turning....

Wow... did you have to make that last statement? I feel the need to go gouge my eyes out :) Sorry Mission. Nope, you guys have always been nice to me and well I am pretty darn far from PC. Thanks for the clarification though. Silkie, relax, take a deep breath. I know I did not mean to come across as angry or anything at you, I just said if you all had rules in place during the event hours that was cool and we had an area as well where people could hang out during that time. I don't think anyone was really angry (if they were screw em... not literally of course... unless you want to... oh nevermind) It was just a discussion. It's all good. It is hard to make sure you come across with the right 'tone' in type. I can't speak for everyone else, but if I'm really pissed, I'm pretty damn obvious and don't pull punches (ask my crewe, they are not big fans) That's really pretty rare though, I just babble a lot most of the time.
-
Hahaha no he didn't.... Although I think we did run aground on a sandbar on that trip....hmm... wonder if that was his fault :)
-
Mission, ask Hurricane about this... he periodically dons a pair of patches when playing with the kiddies at events..... This particular time could have been fun since were were on the wolf.... one wrong step and SPLASH!!!

The coconut cream came out well... I think the only thing we could have done to make any difference is to squeeze the coconut out through some sort of straining cloth (and I don't think it was neccessary for taste, more for texture) and perhaps an extra hour or two of soak time... Although as you said, the flavour was there, and visually the liquid was close to store bought coconut cream (just a little more transluscent). What I want to do more experimentation with is cooking quantities in a camp fire environment. And that sort of experimentation requires campfires and events. So do you think you will still have coconuts on the tree for Hampton? Maybe I'll ask Dutch if he'll talk to Cookie about my contributing the same rice dish to one of the meals there? Well... I don't recall looking for coconuts in June before...so I suppose I won't know till then... I know I have had them since the fall... and I think the tree always has some... I'll keep watch....
-
We processed the coconut as per these directions, and it worked. The rice dice however did not turn out as good as I hoped because it took soooo much longer to cook than I expected, and I tried cooking too much rice for the size pot I had. It was edible, and tasted good, just a bit more "al dente" than I would have liked it to be... Well that and someone mentioned it could have used some pepper... And I agree. I am going to try the recipe again with the lessons learned from my recent experience. Good luck and if you come up with any recipes that you find are particularly good, please share your experiences! Perhaps I will try dad's trick of shredding and then squeezing the shreddings to get the milk. I really don't think what we came up with St Augustine had as much flavor as it should have.... this will take a little more experimentation. I'll see what I can figure out and post back.... If I knew you wanted to experiment more I would have shipped those other coconuts home with you :)

That rumor was just started to keep out the troubled lot like Dogge and Cousin Robbie.... you're just fine...just don't tell them that's all talk or there will be no keeping order around the place! I even usually have flavorful veggie friendly munchies around! Silkie, I don't think anyone is saying you're a PC Nazi, I think the general statement is that while the Hyde and Archangel area may well have rules there are other places for those who aren't fully PC... I love the look you all pull off and came out to see everything regularly. That said, I am not going to kill myself to be that perfect. I appreciate those that put the effort in, but I'm not that crazy about the details for myself. I just was mentioning that there is another area out there for those who don't have the full PC thing going on so they can leave the Hyde as an accurate living history area... that's all.

Put me down for a couple of pieces of jewelry.... and I hear I can make pretty decent buttons if you want some of those :)

Say, I've never heard of that rule vis-a-vis garb. Who made it? (You'll have a fine time explaining this to the Bone Islanders. ) Imagine it, though. You can wear skulls on everything. (I do so love skulls - it's what first drew me to piracy when I was a lad.) You can tie a big fancy pirate sash around your waist. Not to mention the already mentioned bucket boots. And you can wear black with impunity! (I'm a winter. That apparently means I look good in black. Plus it's slimming according to Vague magazine.) Hey Mission... that 3 year thing I believe was on here... for the Mercury Crewe....not for PIP as a whole. Conveniently, we will have Port Royal over by the beach side this year and we are not 100% PC so if you can figure out how to walk within 10 feet from me and not run away, you have safe harbor there, bucket boots and all We also have period games going all day, so you are welcome to come gamble your piratey guys out....We had a good time with that this past year and the year before... get a couple of people in and others crowd around to watch and learn. It's been a lot of fun. Just watch out for Youngblood, the kid... he's a swindler.... Diosa

Ah yes, I forgot, different time frame, different location.. my apologies... Woohoo! I get to blow up the cap! I get to blow up the cap! <doing the dead cap dance>
-
Hmm now there's a thought... as I am done with mistresses. But Diosa don't be so fast to get rid of that cap... they wore em too. according to Hurricane, Buccaneer harlots wore their hair down in Port Royal... I'm going with his take since that means no cap :)
-
I made the jerk chicken to go with the rice, Willie made his famous breakfast burritos and heck, there was always something going, an amazing garlic soup, steamed oysters all kinds of dishes that I have no idea what they were but were very yummy! It was quite the feast and totally killed the great healthy diet I had been on... back to work and extra exercise this week!

Perhaps that's your problem - cooking crud. I heard no complaints over my cooking, just moans of pleasure, right Mickey? And that refers only to the items cooked over the fire not any of the other types of heat I was cooking up. No, there were no complaints from any direction, simply happy, sated men all about me. Shame your 'cooking' doesn't have the same impact Bess.....
-
Hmmm...Now who in the world have I heard this reasoning from...Well, I guess I'm not the only Mistress that Captain Sterling will scold now. Nah, you're probably still in trouble more than I.... I still have that Mayan 'sneak up behind you and kill you before you hear me coming' thing going in my favor. Besides, I think I am just going to go as the town harlot in the future.... much more my character and I can get rid of the cap... :) Speaking of the Cap.... well Mickey... Stynky tries far too hard as it is to get a hold of my clothing so I don't think I'll be letting this get into his hands. I do like the idea of the all girl cannon crewe though... think it would make good wadding? :)
