I'm in need of some advise dealing with a problem I'm facing. On Dec 24, 2002, I decided to create a pirate crew in the Dallas area that was directed more towards the gay/lesbian community (Get them out of the modern bars, and take them to renaissance faires and get them into the pubs drinking and carrousing like pirates.). During the past year and 3 months, I had a total of 4 people join, and since Christmas I havn't heard hide nor hair of them. I'm currently debating whether to give up and find a crew in the Dallas area that will welcome a gay (straight acting) pirate, or to keep trying.... Any advise? Morick Towain, Captain of the Pirate Brethren of Texas

pirates versus cowboys 1 2 3 4

there was a debate on another forum about which are cooler, pirates or cowboys... pirates were winning but I still had to chime in: Why roam the deserts and plains when you can sail the ocean! Rum is much tastier than whiskey. Ponytails and bare feet beat stetsons and boots. Port Royal a damn site more exotic than Carson City. Which would you rather fire - a cannon or a pistol? ...anybody got any more?

Ahoy there, all. With all the name calling and bad blood that seems to be around right now, I thought I'd take Quill's suggestion and start a new thread. What can we do to foster cooperation between various ships? I'd be more than willing to do a dinner event with crews of any ship that wanted to show up. What say ye?

First of all - shameless self promotion here! Check out my new illustration. The infamous "Skulley" returns in Skulley2! https://pyracy.com/gallery/details.php?image_id=213 I have also changed this to be me new profile photo and avatar, replacing the PrateChix2 illustration *snif*. The piece was a by product of a 3-hour "wipe-out" (charcoal technique) demonstration/challenge between meself and one o' me art studio mates. The piece has since undergone considerable refinement. I shall post it here when it is finished. Now, to the question - I want to do a still-life painting with Skulley as the central focus, in a "Piratical" theme. Any suggestions on what other i…

If anyone is interested found a grand book, entitled "Weapons - An International Encyclopedia from 5000B.C. to 2000A.D. " the Updated Edition...the diagram Group. Contains really good pics and descriptions...nice section on swords, daggers, breech loading, smooth bore weapons, cannons, etc. type of ammunition, usage of the aforementioned weapons...etc. Great pics and graphics...thought I would pass the information along... Cass Shows weapons that were used around the world in the 17th and 18th century and not just the European designed. Contains some, imho, some surprising information on weapons in use during the age of piracy...So if anyone is interested you m…

Pirates = Ship on an ocean, blades, cannons, cool clothes, hip lingo, sayin' Arrrrrr or Argh, whatever else comes to mind. Aliens = Plasma, ability to travel at the speed of light, metal objects imbeded in your nose, morphing, green toxic blood, cloning, the FBI, conspiracy, apology is policy, Mulder & Scully tracking them down, and my personal favorite: Trust No One.

I went to a pyrate party in Seattle last month, in a little bar called the TNT. I had heard that next door, there was a bar with jazz in it, so out of curiosity, I and a few other pirate-types walked over. Well, they had a cover charge, but the owner said we could come in for free since we were in our pyrate garb. He took me to the back, where the band was, and low and behold, there was the interior of a pirate ship! The captain's quarters formed part of the building! It was really well done, but seemed really out of place in this jazz club. Turns out, the place used to be the Benbow Inn. Ever since then, I thought how cool it would be to buy the place and restore the Inn…

I'm back in New Orleans now, but around 8:00 this morning I was in Charleston, SC, on the way to the airport, when I glanced over to the right, and noticed a small white van, with a a decal in the left rear window of a bandana-wearing pirate; then I noticed the license plate said, PIRATES Someone on this list, perchance? Capt. William

Pirates- I've gotten the sailing bug (thanks Royaliste!) and am thinking of building a boat with my dad this summer (seeing as he's an experienced carpenter, and I think it'd be good "bonding" time). So I emailed Jim Michalak, since I had liked some of his designs, and he suggested the following. It's never been built, but he thinks it fits my requirements (needs to carry both my father and I (~220 lbs each), needs to fit through a 3-ft gate on it's side, and needs to handle some chop in the N. Cal. lakes). What do all you think? I'd especially like input from all you sailor pirates. The Vector
