I am trying to figure out something about this image - who drew it, when it was drawn, what it's called or anything to help figure where it's from. It's all over Zazzle - suggesting to me that it's a public use image - where they explain that it's a "Vintage illustration black and white pirate fairy tale story image with pirates drinking and carousing on the deck of their pirate ship." A pirate fairy tale story? Anyone?

I have heard that some of the members of the Pub play Pirates of the Burning Sea... I am on Antigua Server and am looking for mates to sail with... If anyone is still playing and sailing Antigua, please post here, I'd love to have mates to sail in consort of. As of this post, I am a lvl 37 Buccaneer captain going by the name 'Greyhound Drummond' and currently command a Raa Heavy Frigate called the 'Bloody Defiance'

Passing a desk I say this book "A History of Singapore, 1819-1975" curious I preused it. Although it's about modern Saingapoer which was established on Jan. 30, 1819 (well after Capt. Jack's time) it does spend a little time on Singapore's pre-history. Apparantly in the 14th century it was a pirate haven! Back then it was called Temask. An eyewitness was a Chinese trader Wang Ta-yuan saying it was a dread place for traders. "Of the inhabitants he said 'everything the inhabitants posses is a product of their plundering of Chinese junks'. Also about Temesk "Arab writers in thethirteenth century had spoken of the neighboring islands 'from which armed black pirates wi…

Anyone run across an alternate universe novel, I thinks, by the above name? The most striking feature is a pyrate republic consisting of a miles-wide raft of ships, some of them hundreds of years old. Cant find the thing, nor the author. off to the tippling house Z

Greetin's, I'm in the process of developin' The ARRR! Project, a web application that (when finished) will let users create their own pirates, set the pirate's personality, then let the pirate loose in a Simulated Pirate world; they can then read the webpage to see what their individual pirate is doing (detailed down to a ship-by-ship, cutlass-blow by cutlass-blow level), and what other pirates/pirate ships are up to. It's more like the old "Fantasy Baseball" type programs rather than a computer game--because you set your pirate loose & then watch what decisions he makes based on what happens to him & his personality, rather than making each decision yourself...…

So today I'm at Borders again and I see a book about the Articles of Pyracy from AWE. I do a quick scan and it looked pretty nice. Thought it might tie up a few loose ends. I wondered if any of you bought this tome and what you thought of it before I laid down my hard earned money.

As I promised last week, here are a few photos of the Dr Who Exhibit currently showing at Kelvingrove Museum and Art Gallery. After all that I had heard,I rather expected it to be half decent.I was disappointed. They could have done so much better. I took 200 pictures but because of lighting issues and only having a cameraphone, I have only uploaded 90 or so images to my photobucket album. These are just a few of the pictures that are at ..... Dr Who Exhibit I hope that you enjoy them.

The Pyrates Way is still looking for beautiful wenches to grace our pages. We still need two lovelies for the Winter Wench of the Quarter. A Pyrate Wench is best, but any beautiful wench with. . uh. . . nice. . .attributes (i.e. huge tracts of land) upon which pirates would likely drool would be perfect! Remember, the photos have to be either taken by you (with model's permission for publication) or of you. They have to either be printed photos or digital photos (300dpi 5x7). Send 'em to: publisher@pyratesway.com Of course we'll be giving a big shout out to this forum in every issue from now on as you folks have been so supportive of our venture.

This will be full contact fighting. If you have a *persona* already developed all the better however they may ask you to make adjustments or re…

I picked up Black Sails, season 1 on DVD. I was able to watch the first episode early but other than trailers had not watched any of the show. Despite many historical, equipment, and costume concerns expressed by the community I found the show very captivating! Very exciting, well, acted and very, very well written. Many episodes depicted a tension you could feel as you watched the show. Deep plots and with lots of exciting characters. The battles at sea were intense! If you have a passing fancy for action and adventure with a piratical theme give the show a try! I have been told that we will be able to enjoy at least 3 seasons of Black Sails. Anyone else watch…

*POSSIBLE SPOILER*... but then again maybe not. Please consider I am posting just from a place of utter exhaustion. I feel I should post this simply becasue in a previous post I had said I liked this film so much. Please, do NOT misinterprut this to mean I know longer like it. THat is NOT the case... howevever the screening last night and tonight have been re edited. With this re editing I found the film to be confusing in places where it had not been before. Blame the time element, not sure what to blame but I wish they had let it lay the way it was. Once the movie is released we could talk more it you like about what was changed.... it's still a great romp but just…
