I'd like to know how many of you like to take yer beasties along on your adventures? Below are a couple of photos of Cloudy, my triton cockatoo. He's wearing a "flight suit" in the picture with a skull and cross bones on it. The suit is a lycra body suit with a safety harness, that gives us a bit more security when we go out (and with it's built in diaper, it keeps my pirate coat clean!!) At the bottom are a couple of links to sound files so you can hear a few of his words. I'm counted over 100 words and phrases that he knows. Cloudy is approximately 30-something and was trained for the Baretta television series. However, due to his extreme dislike of men, he didn't …

Hola, I'm Troy the Pirate Munkee. Bodyboarder and artiste extraordinaire living on the west coast in Santa Cruz. I'm a former Disneyland CM Jungle Cruise Skipper that's into Ren Faires and am dying to hook up with a Piratical Crew in my area are just any crew that will have me. I have been owner of a couple online Pirate Role play by e-mail games that have died out unfortunately. It's nice to know I have found an active port with so many like minded individuals. Glad to be here.

Yes, I know: anything (and anyone) they wanted to! But seriously, mates: during the Golden Age (I use the term in a broad sense: 1680 - 1730), did briar pipes exist? I know they had clay ones; reed-stemmed clay pipes came in around 1750, if I recall correctly. Cigarettes didn't exist in this era. (Cigarettes are nasty, and BORING, anyway!) How about cigars? Does anyone have any evidence of pirates smoking "stronger stuff"? Capt. William

Anyone with any fresh skinny on the event this year at Dana Point? I've emailed at least 3 times since March, Would like to take my ship down this year, but with no replies, it's a tough sell to just head out. The Californian and the Lynx will be up here in S.F. Bay about the same time, last time we engaged the Chieftian, they were going to be around here.Any sailors with hard info? This West Coast is pretty devoid of locations and events for actual ships to cut loose. Gary

an introduction for the newb. i'm chesapeake, but can be shortened to chesa if you like. i'm named for a bay that's on the opposite side of the country as i am, and i've never been there. i'm nineteen years old. i hope that's not terribly young around here. in any case. i am new to "the pirate scene," but i've appreciated pirates for a long time. actually, i live in anaheim california, and one of the defining moments of my childhood was getting a fortune card for a quarter from the machine in the shop just outside the exit of pirates of the caribbean (the ride). on the one side it had a fortune, and the other had an index of jolly roger flags and the pirates who u…

As we celebrate this, the birthday of our nation, the thought occurred to me: what better a day for pyrates to celebrate: for do we not prize our FREEDOM above all earthly things? Capt. William

In the last few years, it looks like there's been an increase in the popular interest over anything to do with pirates and such: books, computer games, movies, toys, WEBSITES, festivals, etc... What do you think? Captain Sage

For the last couple or three Sundays I be showing up for the Sunday evening live chat but, there doesn't seem to be anyone else around and no conversations to join in with. Granted I be showing up on the late side of 10:30 east coast time... Has the live chat thing been happening and I'm just showing up to late?

Website restored to June 17 etc.
by Guest Angus MacVox- 13 replies

Something weird happened to the database for the forum so I had to restore it, the most recent backup I had was from the 17th, so all posts after that have been erased. Later this summer I'll be upgrading the forum software to the latest version which should prevent that from happening again. In the meantime, if you make a particularly important post, save a copy to a text file on your computer "just in case"
