Reenactor Fest 2 2/ 2-4/2007

Recommended Posts

I'm planning on coming...I really can't think of a better excuse for skipping classes on Friday! (Possibly Thursday too...that's a long drive.) I won't be piratically attired, but will be my usual Anglo-Saxon Aethelflaed-self. And I'm really glad I've got an entire month's Christmas break to make some new garb!

Another midwesterner, what? Make sure ye come by and introduce yerself... we be lookin forward to meeting one and all...:lol:;)

What part of the mid-west are you from Jessie?

I have dabbled in Anglo-Saxon re-enactoing as well... and as the Saxon and Norse re-enactors tend to flock together more often than not, there is a decent chance we know some of the same people.

I'm currently in South Dakota. There's less of us out here, so we tend to travel farther for events, and so I've gotten to know people from South Dakota, North Dakota, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa, Canada...odds are we know some of the same people.

Oi Cheeks,

Good to know Kate. As far as clothing, tis the grand thing about the event you can wear whatever century you like as long as it isn't science fiction. ;) Look us up... we'll be the ones making everyone else uncomfortable! B) Looking forward to meeting you.

Yep, being able to be any century is a great thing about this fest. I was there last year and got some nice fabric for the cowboy thing I do. It was great seeing all the diversity of reenactors. This year I plan on staying longer though. I am trying to talk some other Victorians to come down too. It should be a grand party this year! And I will definitly look you up when I get there.

Good Lord! You two have met and you don't even remember!

Yes, Crowsnet has been to Traders, Captain...She was wearing the gold demask bustle gown. I have a picture of us together. She Henry's friend, 'member?

Wear what ever you like 'Kate'. We are all wearing verious time periods that weekend. Heck, some of us are packing at least two or three outfits. Gosh, I wish I had a bigger van!

Anyway, I'll be there along with Victorian wears in tow. The Captain and his crewe will have a table full of interesting items and promoting the Archangel crewe.

Dress what ever suits you best...and come for the Fun!

Ahhh, wish I could be there to see Kass running over into Foxe's time slot, and the ensuing conflict.

;)

We're running a tight ship here, BlackJohn!

Though I cannot say that it will not happen (matters beyond our control), we have more committee members on board this year and we will be able to keep this in check.

I have been assigned the position of the seminar corrdinator for this year's event - I've been made the go-to gal!

Dear friends.. talk Lady B into going..and I will see if I can make it. I can probably get the time off and perhaps the money as well!

I don't have any thing that is strictly period, more like almost period. Does anyone have an extra dress if I go? I have some dresses that are almost Renaissance... :)

Hey Merrydeath, if you don't have period correct GAoP but period correct something from another time frame, you can certainly wear that as well... this a time line event, just about every period goes... And if you have something close but not perfect, the Archangel crewe would never turn our noses up at you. Besides, I would really like the opportunity to talk with you, the crewe is planning something and would like to see if you and yours would like to get involved...

Aye!

You have to be there!

Even if it means wearing civilian clothes! It's an opportunity to meet, shop and socialize!!

I've used part of my vacation just for this event, so I can cut loose!

I'll even let you buy me a drink!

Rats!

Merrydeath, have you looked at the pictures from RF last year?! Some of the people were in totally farby stuff!

It's not a living history reenactment -- it's a convention! No one is going to throw you out for an honest attempt.

And remember, you can always come in street clothes too.

A number of SCA type folks had been asked to attend last year, in order to try and get them interested in coming... Mike seemed to pass the test, so this year there may be quite a number of folks in not perfectly period kit, but who want to learn and improve, and buy better stuff... they just ask that science fiction or pure fantasy not show up as that is not what the event is about.

B) :::embarassed as hell:::

Again, we shall see. I haven't a clue if that weekend is open or not for me. Depends upon if there is a Horse Show that weekend or another equine event which means I have to be there.

I will find out this week... or next week. But my cash is spread thin enough since a flight out west is going to zap a lot of it! Yikes! Pricy to fly out west in March (long story)!

If I do go... can't guarantee I will be there as a Pirate. My outfit is not really historical. It's more fantasy than historical.

I have Colonial/18th attire that is more period though. Would be nice to see a few folks from the NWTA, too. Hopefully discuss some more about the horse issue (another long story). As well as meet some of you and see others again before Port Washington.

Well, I have decided on 1890's for the day I will be down there. A nice light blue wool walking suit. I just have to figure out what to do with my hair. I'll have to see how the money goes to know if I can stay overnight.

And as it has been said, you don't have to be exactly historically correct there. Just an attempt is good. I went in street clothes last year.

There are two exciting parties at night that are exclusively for Reenactor Fest guests with their paid admission!

Friday night - Historical Jeopardy (in the Paramount Ballroom). You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll walk away smarter (and loaded up with cool prizes!). Cash bar!

Saturday night - the Reenactor's Ball (in the Paramount Ballroom). By popular request, this dance will feature four separate musical periods: Celtic, Colonial, Civil War and WWII. Bring you best uniform and finery! Cash bar!
