  1. If people aren't opposed to driving twenty minutes or so, Cedarburg has some nice b&b's and a nice hotel too with plenty of shopping for the off hours as well. Or there is a hotel just off of the freeway in Grafton near Target and Home Depot too.
  2. Happy belated natal day Merry, sounds like it was a grand affair!
  3. When I made mine, I used liquid laundry starch and used a paint brush to apply it on both inside and out. Then I put toilet paper rolls where I turned the edges up and pinned the turned up parts so they would stay till dry. After is was dry I glued maraboo and trim to the edge and I was done. Very simple and looks good too. And it has kept its shape for over a year. Of course it has never gotten wet but, I think if it did all I would have to do is pin it up again till it was dry.
  4. Sorry to hear you are ill Lady B. I hope you will recover very soon. And I will look forward to seeing you again at Port Pirate Fest this summer.
  5. My sister wants to know if his fathers name was bootstrap......(snicker)
  6. I am planning on being there Saturday, not sure when I'll get there and not sure when I'll leave. But it sounds like it will be fun.
  7. I will see you at the festival Sally. I will be watching the dog pulls during the day and the beer tasting and breakfast sound great! Can't wait to see you at the bed race!! Too fun!
  8. I was there once many years ago and it was very nice. Lots to see and I picked up a few things I could use for reenacting there. I enjoyed it very much.
  9. I would be inclined to show up. I would love to meet more of you all. But, it depends on the cost and the weather. I'm not going to go in a blizzard ya know..... the sails ice up on my ship and it's hard to steer.
  10. If I am correct, at the Sturgeon Bay Pirate exhibit in Door County, there is a painting that looks exactly like Cascabel. I think the title even has his name in it. It is a wonderful portrait.
  11. I'll be at Bristol on the 11th. I may just take a side trip into Kenosha since there will be tall ships there. The lake is only about a half an hour away from Bristol.
  12. I had a great time and so did my sister. It was fun making new friends and catching up with old friends. I can't wait till next year!
  13. I went to the museum on Saturday. I must say I was a little disapointed that there were so few artifacts. I was expecting more. The best part was the paintings by the man who created Captain Morgan. I don't think it was worth it for the length of the drive up there. Oh well.....
  14. this may be a bit off topic but I would love to have the music box Davey Jones had. Anyone know if it is available?
  15. I was at JoAnn Fabrics this past weekend and they had a few pirate prints too. Good for bandanas and such. Or what ever your own imagination can come up with.
  16. Well, as for me, if I lived any where near Disney World, I would be more than glad to "kidnap" you and go to the POTC ride! I love theme parks and I know if I were someone who had never been to Florida, it would be nice to have a tour guide to help me along on my first adventure. I hope you find a charitable pirate who will be your tour guide. Have fun on your trip anyway!
  17. I agree with you all. I have never been to a shower I enjoyed, baby or wedding. I have been to one kick ass wedding though! All the rest were boring as #@$%.
  18. Congratulations to you and your family! How wonderful for you all!
  19. 20K was one of my childhood favorites. I just saw it on tv a couple of weeks ago. It was just as corny and good as it was way back then. I still plan on buying it one of these days. My sister knows the words to A Whale of a Tale by heart too. One of my favorites for sure!
  20. A belated Happy Birthday to you Merrydeath! May you have many more and have a pint o' rum on me!
  21. Well, yesterday we got about 8" of snow here and it is still coming down beautifully today off and on. I may take the dog for a walk later on. I love walking in the snow! Once again the plows did a wonderful job of clearing the roads. Salters were out last night and my car got pelted by it as I past the truck and it was blowing and my windshield wipers got all icy but I had a reasonably good drive from Batavia Il to Cedarburg WI. Took me 3 1/2 hours instead of 2 1/2 hours but you have to drive slower when it is snowy and a bit slippery. The wind blew snow across the roads at times making visability a bit dodgy but all in all it was not as bad as they said it would be where I was driving.
  22. Ah well, as usual the money runs out before I can do anything so, I am once again not going to be able to attend. I was so looking forward to meeting all of you and seeing some old friends. Oh well, next year......
  23. I have a big back yard if anyone would be interested in camping there. I am but 20 minutes from Port Washington. Let me know if you are interested. Be advised though, we have a rotweiler that will lick you to death. Let me know if you are interested in camping out in the back yard.
  24. Congratulations. Your comments give me the hope that my own life will turn around one of these days and become good again. May your good fortune continue for a very long time.
