Me at the So Cal Ren Faire - sadly I don't have any shots of my full garb yet.

DSCF1765v2.jpg

When I was allowed to come and play at the Bell the last Saturday of the Run though this is what I wore:

(and yes I know I look like a dork, but, eh, the faire was over for the day and I was running on 4 hours of sleep and didn't care anymore how I looked or acted  )

Well I haven't been here in a long time, feels god t'be back.

Everyone's grab looks fantastic!

and as mine is updated, well, slightly anyhow, I thought I'd share.

Sorry about the size, but it'll have t'do, eh?

I quite like how its turned out so far, though I am missing a few minor peices, but over all its pretty complete

All of these are from a convention I went to recently...

Hey Capt Jack,

I recognize that convention, it's I-CON! Did you happen to attend my and Captain Rhedd's History of Pirates class?

Weeeeel lad ...that is a loaded question around here.

I like it. It is fun and not too serious about the fun.

Question is ...what are you going for? "Hollywood" "Authentic" "Fantasy" ...some place in the middle?

I'm simply going to tell you what I would keep and lose and you can keep or lose my advice as you please. Mind you I have leanings to the authentic side ...but I'm not an expert by any stretch of the imagination.

Boots are cool ...they have caused many an argument. In an authentic camp you would most likely have to replace them.

The draw string bags with the skull and bones on it ...lose it. It is "cheesy" in comparison to the remainder of your garb. Additionally, if you want to keep whatever doubloons are in a pouch you wouldn't wear it on the outside of your clothing too easily pinched hanging out like that.

The sash ...too long and again, you will find arguments for and against it. Someone correct me if I am wrong ...sashes were worn by officers. Now, privateer officers are elected but they could wear sashes if they wished but for the most part ...it is a Hollywood thing. Additionally, I believe they were considerably shorter.

I THINK the belt buckle would be simpler.

That having been said ...I like it, for the most part, as is. Find your niche and on occasion ...cross over, somebody may care but do you?

:rolleyes:B)B)

And by any chance... be that a certain gent Todd Davis? Just noticed an extremely well done Davy Jones outfit only that someone pointed out. Recently got in touch with the gent. Amazing Jones I have to say! Looks like th' gent!

Cptn Pogue... loves it I does!

Both yer outfits! Devilish lookin' duo.

My compliments.

Patrick, is that a waistcoat beneath your waistcoat? It look great.

"The time was when ships passing one another at sea backed their topsails and had a 'gam,' and on parting fired guns; but those good old days have gone. People have hardly time nowadays to speak even on the broad ocean, where news is news, and as for a salute of guns, they cannot afford the powder. There are no poetry-enshrined freighters on the sea now; it is a prosy life when we have no time to bid one another good morning."
