  1. Union Pacific Bridge in Waterloo, no locomotives http://iowadot.gov/floods/2008gallery.html
  2. REPOST FROM HOW DO YOU FEEL- I tried to drive down there with as much water as I could carry for LadyB and her family, then found out another storm was headed that way. I didnt want to end up another 'guest' at LadyB's Drop On Inn. I'll try later on this week or maybe Sunday. I was shopping at Target and started to feel tired. Ended up calling the surgeon cause I felt so tired. I guess I did too much too soon. I'm glad I wasnt on the road, and then having to find a place to stay. Right now, I can get down there (about 48 miles) in 1 1/2 hours, then another hour to a friends house (who owes me dinner) If I get caught down there when the last road goes under water, its at least a 4 hour trip around the flooded area. We had a freaky bad storm last night here, water driven under the window sashs, lightning, BAD winds. I"m getting tired of battening down the hatches. http://www.myspace.com/godivalover I have some pics up on myspace of the flood just around me, or go to MSN for more and look up Cedar Rapids, IA. or use this link for the Iowa DOT pics... very scary! look up the Union Pacific bridge in Waterloo and the Fort Atkinson bridge. http://iowadot.gov/floods/2008gallery.html in case you need references, I-80 is the big highway that runs across southern Iowa E-W, and 380 is the highway that runs tween Waterloo and Cedar Rapids.

I feel for you hun, I have negative and annoying people around me at work. About the best advice I can give is try to sort out your battles, and decide which ones you need to fight, and which ones you can just pass on by. I have a friend who wears a stone bead bracelet. He fingers each stone, and by the end, he is more calm. The cold of the stones helps him cool down his emotions. Good luck, my friend!
  4. kill him and hide the body... just my inside voice, Siren! LadyB wanted me to post that she is ok but a bit water-logged. She is pretty much stuck in town, with low water usage and a curfew at night to stop the looters. I"ll be going down, if they let me through, with as much water as I can carry and a hand truck for moving stuff... I'll see about some bleach and garbage bags too.. the trip that is normally an hour will be around an hour or two. Should be interesting! keep your prayers going for her and that the water goes down fast. I woke up with no power, but after 45 minutes had it back. Must be the power company doing repairs down the road.
  5. at least you know now that you are alive and all your parts are working.. and will keep a smile on your face all day.
  6. we talked about $10 for a button.. the rest can go to Breast Cancer Research, near and dear to my heart and bodice. does this sound resonable? would you buy one?
  7. whilst running tween raindrops at the Port Washington fest, this nice people gave us free rum, and not only was it free.. it was dang good! You have your choice tween Key Lime and Molasses Reef Rum flavors. Made in Key Largo, and the offical rum of the Conch Republic. they are also the chief supplier of the hurricane party in Pete's room. http://www.pirateschoicerum.com warnin ya, it uploads very slowly.
  8. I see its carried at wallie world.. might try it.
  9. here's a grand view of the Port Washington fest.. set to music.. there is also one for the gents.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6I1WuBfIiEo& NR=1
  10. right now its just a bit sore. an inconvenience. I have my sight and smell and feelings. I can walk to get a drink of water or scratch my nose by myself.. life isnt that bad. A bit lonely but I have the best friends a pirate could EVER want.. Mary, you stay well and do what you need to keep that way. I'll pray for you,. luv. Your kind is rare and reminds me of Herself.. MadDog, you gave me hope.. so important today. and Robert is a genius at the buttons.. would you pay $10 for a button if half went to Breast Cancer Research?
  11. what wonderful pics!! they just take me back to the fun we all had, and getting to meet you all again. It was the highlight of my pirate summer! With any luck, we'll all be back next year, with OUT the tornado. :) http://s158.photobucket.com/albums/t113/me...%20wash%202008/ there's quite a few there so it will take a while to download.
  12. I used some stiff leather with holes (1/2 inch wide with my name punched in)punched in the ends and tied with cording, then added beads to them to hang. That way I can adjust if I turn the cuff over or just not. I think Scupper has some.
  13. let me know what you find out... I'm looking for just a water barrel but wondering if the wooden hoops one might be a bit better. I won't be able to keep it wet. I'm also curious about the alcohol aging..
  14. I have the design for my flag, thanks to the art of one of my crew, but I was wondering what all you used for material for the backing and the coloring? I found some black nylon that looks like cotton at $9 a yard, which dries quick but I heard that the paint wont stay on. Duck cloth is more period but it gets wet and then just hangs... any ideas?
  15. still sore and swollen but the nurse said its normal for this stage.. also, the friendship I have found here really helps out.. There are times when I wonder why I fight against the crap in my life, and then I see the strength and hope here. Ransom, good luck on your trip and thanks for the pirate luv! Iron Bess- your quiet and sometimes fiesty zest keeps me going. thank you both! cheeky and rat, thank you for the smiles.. does my heart good.
  16. sticking together?? ya need a lass to blow on them regular.. they wont be sticky then.. or maybe they will be more sticky.. hmm.. imagine a soft powder puff dabbed with edible body-powder on your delicious sweaty balls.. then softly blown on.... puts the sparkle back in your eye and a tilt to your kilt.
  17. had the surgery but sore and swollen. Still, better knowing they didnt have to take the whole thing.. and the water is recedeing slowly. We can cross 1 of 6 bridges now, instead of driving 10 miles out of the way. seriously, I used to kid about being land-locked pirates.. I may have to change that!! and Cheeky, and Sterling, and everyone on the Archangel, it was good to see you. MadDog, thank you.
  18. rule with a steel fist in a velvet glove..
  19. thank you both for your blessings.. at one point, all that kept me going was thoughts of my friends, on pyracy and not, and the good wishes they sent me. I had the lumpectomy today, outpatient, and they are pretty sure they got it all. There will be a re-check in 1 week or sooner, and then they will see about the radiation.. its a bit swollen and sore but not that bad. again, thank you all!! for the help and friendship you have sent me.. it made a difference. and Rumba, the pin you sent me is wonderful. I had compliments on it all day. The blue is perfect with my chemise!
  20. sent to my rennie/pirate friends in an email: I might have to evacuate my home because the Cedar River is flooding. Only 2 of about 6 bridges are left from east to west downtown, and parts of the John Deere plant are full of water. I"m about 3 blocks from a levy that is full of churning waters. Keep me in your thoughts and prayers this THURSDAY!!... and GET A MAMMOGRAM, DAMMIT!!. they never would have found it with a breast exam. Only the mammogram found it so early.. I"m thinking of having wench tees designed and sold to help fight breast cancer. SAVE THE WUBBIES! is my idea for the wenches' items, and PROTECT OUR TREASURED CHESTS for the pirates. If anyone would like to donate to the breast cancer fund, let me know or give at your local center. Over the weekend, my pirate friends and I raised $125 for research, mostly dollar by dollar at a fest. Thank you, Fools Gold Pirates!
  21. just tween you me and 2000 pirates, I"m damn scared. Right now they will take about a golf-ball sized chunk of my left breast, based on the xrays of 2 weeks ago. If they find more, or its more agressive then thought, it will be more and possibly chemo.. adding on to that, my town might be evacuated because of flooding. put a fork in me, I'm done. :)
  22. congrats, sir, for another year around the sun, in style!
  23. I"m tired of calling the flipping insurance and then getting the wrong dept every time. 10 minutes lost of my cell minutes AND my break yasterday. I decided to get Cobra instead of my crappy work insurance. $400/ month for 2 months. yikes.
