  1. 'Capt. Sterling'... I have finally, completely lost my mind and am actually embroidering a new coat and waistcoat...
    .

Oooo! Okay, I have to ask. What colour is the coat and waistcoat and what colour with the stump work be? Are we looking at early American/Colonial - New England themes here? Pictures Please!

  2. WOW! This group - Snowshoe Men

I just googled a few things last night looking for information about my ancestors who settled in Scarborough area of Maine. I found out that one Isaac McKenney was a member of the Snowshoe Company in the 1730s in York, ME (Scarborough Settlement) area. I need to do a bit more research on him for he is a KEY Ancestor in my family lineage. His son, Daniel is our direct bloodline to the Northern New York McKinney’s.

  3. Not to worry Lady B. I've been put in charge of 'Photos' again for the event. I'll be behine the lense snapping away at everyone having a grand time of it....

I'll try to post these over on my photo account as soon as possible.

Now...I just have to remember my battery charger, rechargable batteries and a big enough bag/purse/muff to carry all this stuff in.

  4. Jack,

these are a pleasure to see. You must be ecstatic about seeing all these lovely historical items up close! Any signs of lady's accessories – like the Fontage or headdresses of the time period?

  5. Thank you all for posting this information. I plan on attempting this one myself. From start to finished. I don't have the RH pattern, therefore I plan on useing the Waugh pattern and Stays Generator to help with the perfect fit.

The 'Lay-Out' of the reed channels are a HUGE help, Captain. Thank you! And Mary. I get a better understand of the 'cone' appearence now. We all want that perfect figure...right?

Any quick hints/helps that anyone can give before I start?

    Thanks again Everyone!

  6. Wow, that looks great Cheeky! I'm jealous of your mantua making skills.

Thank you Jack...but I can't take all the credit for it...I have to thank the Captain for drafting the pattern and talking me through some of those issues with the pleats and folds.

  7. Update:

Sorry that I haven't done this earlier, but I've been busy finsihing up a few things here at home and fighting a very bad stomach bug that has plagued me for about a week now. (Which oddly enough isn't as bad as last year's bought that landed me in the hospital)...not to mention trying to help and keep up with a few last items with RF5. If it isn't one thing...it's another!

Okay, Sorry about the quality of the photos. My camera and the room in which I'm working in doesn't have the best light. Here is the back pleating of the Mantua.

Closer Look...you can see the direction of the pleats and that they are tacked down on top of the fabric.

Lastly...here is a shot of the Winter Blue Mantua. I did a quick stomacher, but I still need to finish the trim on the sleeves, trim off the front of the Mantua and along the bottom of the gown.

I am hoping that I will be able to finish this sometime tomor...I mean today. I'm off to bed.

  8. Oh. And these are my helpers:

    100_1544.jpg

Well it is obvious that these two were supervising your every move. Guess you worked them to complete mental exhaustion.

Just look at the one on stage left she’s just drooling over your fine work.

Very nice, LadyBrower! Very nice, indeed!

  9. Ugh, what a repulsive thought.... must save my dances for Mistress Diamond...

Oh no you don't! Lilly says shaking a finger at the Captain. I am not spending all this time and energy on being beautiful ...only to be snubbed by you.

You're gonna dance with me....and like it, Sir!

  10. 'ello I have been sent here on behalf of my client, Barcelona Exotic Animal Rental. Hearafter referred to as "BEAR".

BEAR has gone to great lengths to collect said primate, as well as the outstanding bill. Numerous correspondences have gone unanswered, therefore requiring my services.

My sources have led me here, and I shall remain at the local inn for a period of (24) twenty four hours, should said primate appear along with at least 75% of said rental fee, and a small surcharge for my personal expenses, no questions will be asked and there will be no need to reveal the name of said rentor on BEAR's rental agreement.

    Sir,

We have not paid the rental contract agreement for your monkey, as of this time, due to the numerous expenses, operating costs and damages cause by ‘The Monkey’ known here after as the “Instrument”. In the 48 hours that he was left in Captain William’s possession, the following items and incidences occurred:

    1. Delft Coffee Set shattered and destroyed,

    2. Drapes in Parlor in the South Wing heavily soiled with excrement

(and yes, it was confirmed that it was the Monkey’s. We’ve broken William

    of that habit year’s ago,

    3. One broken coffee table,

    4. Large beaver hat destroyed…don’t ask how,

    5. Eaten…one large lady’s straw hat…the monkey didn’t look

good in the damn thing! and

    6. Numerous guests bitten, clawed at, and slapped

Do look upon page 82 of the Rental Contract Agreement and do note the following:

    5. CONTINGENCIES. THE AGREEING PARTY (RENTERS) WILL HAVE THE RIGHT TO CLAIM DAMAGES AND/OR TERMINATE THIS AGREEMENT AS A RESULT OF THE “"INSTRUMENT’S (AKA MONKEY)" FAILURE TO PERFORM, EXECUTE AND/ OR LACK THE INABILITY TO BEHAVE ACCORDINGLY TO THE “INSTRUMENT’S” TRAINING AND INSTRUCTION IN PERFORMANCE DUE TO CIRCUMSTANCES BEYOND ITS REASONABLE CONTROL, INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, WAR, RIOT, INSURRECTION, EPIDEMIC, ACTS OF GOD, OR GOVERNMENTAL ACTION NOT THE FAULT OF THE NON-PERFORMING PARTY.

I hope now that you can see why this contract is null and void. If you have any questions regarding this matter. Please contact our solicitor, Master Dewy C. Howe. St. Martin in the Fields, London

  11. Thank ye for the hearty welcome Cap'n i detect you to be a man with many an answer sir, may i ask questions of you now & again? for no rules do i want to bend!

    GS

:rolleyes: (Blink...Blink)...uncontrolable laughter coming from the Captain Sterling's Mistress.

  12. Well ye keep reminding me that ye are my "favorite", so that obviously means ye are far from my only....

Lilly smoothes her hand over Captain Sterling's cheek. "Yes, I am your favorite, Sweet." She the twirls a lock of his blonde curl about her finger and thumb.

"At least I would not sell cheap second-hand tables to my patrons, nor let some hideous little creature (...and yes William, I mean the monkey) run about the house without a care. What would the neighbor's think?" Lilly looks over her should at the Merchant's wife. "Poor thing...not right...just not right in the head since her husband's passing." Suddenly a crash came from the other room.

    "Oh Damn...monkey's back."
