  1. Ooo! Nice picture...great find, Captain.

(GROAN)Yet, I was worried you (or someone else) was going to say that.

I don't have a problem with making another Mantua. It's just that I have a devil of a time fitting it to me. No extra hands in the household ...that know what they are doing (wink!) My dress form isn't my size any longer and it doesn't increase to the size I am.

I will see what I can do to find a affordable velvet/velveteen in blue. Nuts! I will need a new pair of bodies (Stays) for this one. All the others don't seem to fit quite right now...and I know that I will look like a full "chest of draws" if I wear the lay-woman's stays I made.

  2. 5. You spend the rest of the year trying to figure out how to clone yourself so next year you can sleep and still not miss anything.

Oh Nell...I must tell you that the 'twin faction' of the Archangel crewe has done this...Sadly, it does not help. You find your so called 'other' wanting to stay up and join in on the fun...Sigh. But it is well worth it though!

  3. I think I've posted in here before but this set up was priceless! I couldn't resist.

My money is on the guy with the space-age pistol wearing the 'Depends' undergarment. What?! They look like 'Depends' don't they?

    Great shot Jack!

  4. Possessed? No. Determined. Cheeky knows how determined.

Indeed I do, Kate... There is something very rewarding about getting something finished PRIOR to an event and not worrying about finishing it 10 mins. before the event starts.

I cannot wait to see Kate's eyelet/button holes!!

  5. ReenactorFest on Bilgemunky Radio

    Bilgemunky Radio!

  6. A happy belated Christmas to you Spike. I wish you hope and blessings of good fortune in this the New Year. I pray that all your woes are a thing of the past, (2008 to be exact) and that you are starting off the new year with happiness and good health.

We all hope that you are well, Spike.

    God Speed.

  7. Here are a bunch of the pics the Callahans took. I know Tony is editing them and making them look much prettier, but here are the raw pics that I uploaded to flickr and I'll take them down once he gets the edited ones.

    Sterling Hangs

Very Cool Dioas! Lots of great shots of everyone!

  8. Yes, Mickey is correct stating that Pike River in Kenosha, WI and Beaufort, NC are conflicting events. They fell on the same weekend in 2008. Chances are, they will do so the same this year....(but need to confirm this).

Per the Captain's request...if you can make Beaufort, NC...please do. It is the event of choice (for several reasons...big ships, location, Blackbeard's Crew to be there...).

  9. Oh thank you Mama and Papa! What a lovely gift. You two do such amazing work and we all appreciate all the hard work, time and energy that you two put into this every year. Thank you again!

Oh, and the photoshoot of Lily and Edward is AMAZING!!!

  10. Big News from RF-HQ!

This just in! Big things are happening at RF HQ! The giant vendor hall sold out back in early November, something that has never happened before in our convention's short history.

The discounted room block we had SOLD OUT in November and the Westin had to give us more rooms (which are nearly gone) and the seminar schedule and live schedule are booked solid.

This is going to be our biggest and best RF ever!!

  11. Though I am not too familar with Steampunk, I grew up watching Wild Wild West (which in my opinion was the first phase of Steampunk).

League of Extraordinary Gentlemen is a great movie and the special effects and props are to die for. I have been thinking about selling some of my Victorian gowns (mostly made when doing Wild West Reenactments).

They rang in size from a size 8 to 12 and some 14. A large assortment...great for this sort of stuff...

Anyone interested, PM me. I'll chat and send photos if you are looking for lovely Lady's late-Victorian (mostly second bustle fashion of the mid to late 1880s).

  12. cheecky...also play music while moving....you can really find a tempo...helps with fluidity( ithink thats a word)

    Now I'm gonna be a smart-arse....2/4 or 4/4 measure?

There is that technique that you showed us back or Port Washington's Pyrate Fest. For lack of a better name, "The Approach, Strike and Pause". I hope you know of what I speak.

It when the two fighters approach, clash once, then move in a fluid motion, then proceed to approach, clash, and pause again.

I know you mentioned that this helps 'build up and draw out' a fight scene.
