There is a picture of a painting that Kass posted somewhere in TWILL (maybe in the haversack/snapsack thread) showing a leather backed,cloth covered corded edged sling.... I think it was a game hanger, but the detail of the painting might be something worth checking out....

Yeah... I'm thinking of grinding the birds head off and changing the shape... It originally was shaped more like a falcion, I ground down the tip to make it look more like a Bowie.....

The goggles have been painted gold and gold leafed before... and I had to scrape all of it off with the edge of my pocket knife before I could take off the ridges on the lens rings.... and It took some scraping to do so... it holds up really well.... I don't know how well it would stand-up to daily handling, but I was surprised how tough it was....

probably when the girlie girl romantic discussions stop..... I guess I didn't pay enough attention in the Sensitivity Training Class... But talking about some guy, who we don't know, and speculating about his love life, and motivations for seeing a younger Woman... WHY? He's not going to read this or care what we type (and he would probably be thrilled to find out that his relationship is being posted on the internet....) Men don't sit around talking about other men's Love Lives..... We don't care.......But no one wanted to sound bad by just typing ..."Wow...Lucky Bastard..... " "Do these jophers make my thighs look too big......?" And NO.... we won't put the toilet seat back down after we are done.......

Nah... at least alla the Ceder an Redwoods are use to th' snow.... (I live just below Big Trees State Park) Really tall trees, and heavy winds ....... doesn't sound fun.....

I'll wait until we get back to manly stuff, instead of this girlie girl gossip about some guy in L.A. who we don't know, and speculation about his love life... A sled wouldn't work up hill on ice....... I knocked some of the snow off the bank, so tonight, I at least had rough broken ice to walk on instead of the really smooth slippery stuff..... So the rum made it home safely tonight..... Oh yeah... there is suppose to be another big icky wet storm coming in at the end of the weekend....... And I just got the windows shoveled clear this afternoon..... Yeah.... the snow drifts covered both of the side windows in the restaurant..... I've gotta take and post a picture.......

I posted this in the Weapons thread, but figured I could explain everything here better...... I'm still working on the bowie/cutlass, I want to add a copper rib on the back of the blade, and then do the final finishing.... I also have to make a scabbard for it.... I sanded the ridges off the lens ring on my goggles.(I had already cut them down, so they weren't as thick anymore...) .. now I have to spraypaint a gold base layer, and then imitation gold leaf them., then a final gloss coat to protect the gold layers... then weather them, so they look like brass..... The flight helmet made from a $5.00 thrift store jacket is almost done.... I have to pick out some of the loose threads(the stupid sewing machine decided to mess with the tension, so I had to re-sew most of it), and then finish the earphones, and cover the wire with cloth (so they look more old fashioned)... There are the earpieces from a set of headphones in each ear cup.... So my flight helmet is wired for sound.... Oh yeah.... and then distress it so it looks nicely grungy... and proper fer an Airship Pyrate..... I still have a lot of stuff that need to be done to finish everything.... but it is all coming together nicely.....

It only melted a small part of alla that damn ice..... Yeah... I used some very choice and colorful words......

But you can't "clash" plaid.....

It's one of those things when people find out about it, and respond that they have always been interested in it, but just didn't know it had a name.......

I didn't have the time to read alla that page... I'll have to go back and read it maybe on Saturday..... I know there is a way to bleach out a design.... so on black scarves, that might work really well..............

But that's part of the fun of it.... I like describing it as.... "Imagine Jules Vern's 20,000 leagues Under the Sea is actual history, not just a story..... It's a time that never really was, but you get to make-up the good parts of it.......

Well the War is over.... The Union of the United States and the Confederacy of the United States aren't exactly on "Speaking terms".... but Governments get funny about that sorta thing..... Nah... just a screw breached cannon.... A calliope might be a really good idea..... Flight of the Vullcures (sp) anyone ...? Well Hydrogen does keep everyone on their toes.......
