OK... kinda off-topic..... well not that "off-topic".... but kinda wandering....Hey... Dr. Steel is Steampunkish enough...... WOW...That is so dang cool...... Have you posted that in the Toy Soldier Forum? (it's just like the Pub... register, and post stuff...) http://www.toysoldiersunite.com/forums/viewforum.php?f=11 They will love you forever for such a cool graphic..... And if you haven't checked out Dr. Steel...... (naughty bad Pyrates...) go here first.... http://www.worlddominationtoys.com/drsteel/ Then goto the above link..... (but check out his "manifesto".... awh heck.... here it is just to make it really easy fer any of ye lazy types.... Building A Utopian Playland.... FUN STUFF...... Dang... now I have to put together a Toy Soldier Uniform....... and my Buccaneer stuff....and my Airship Pyrate.....Dang... this is going to be one heck of a busy Winter.......

Back on page two or three (somewhere thereabouts) is a sketch of a buccaneer from that book, or a coloring book, (can't remember for sure).... it looks good, but ....eergh.... something isn't quite right..... (I think it's the moccasins that throw me off the most...) We have pictures from later period..... but everything for the time period we are working on (later 1660's) is conjecture... OK... someone can post a good picture of a French Farmer.... or a Trapper from the period.... but is that what the English, or even the French Buccaneers were wearing? DANG.... WE DON'T KNOW......... So now we are approaching very dangerous shores..... Do we guess/make it up until we can find better information? I'm going to Shock everyone and say yes..... I have seen "garb" worn by the Early Mountain Men Reenactors... that now looks soooo wrong ...... But heck.... At the time, that was the best information "they" had to work from......until better information came along, they were just guessing also....... SO I'm going to say.... Lets "make-up" (within reason of what we do know... and work from there.....BUT be willing to change as more information becomes available.... Someone has to start somewhere.... It is an interesting period of History.... we just don't have enough good information to work from.... SO lets play with what we have, or can guess at.... and hope that others with tid-bits of better information will help us. increase our knowledge...... Hey... the same thing happened with "Pyracy".... we had a lot of misinformation, and as more people got interested, more information became available... we modified and change to make our stuff more period correct...... (Hey... look at some of the very early post in the Pub on what was "period" garb/clothing.... ) So until I can find better information, I will be wearing a pair of cut-down brogans (so they look like latchet shoes), Venetians, drawers (under the Venetians) a long shirt (un-tucked), a thin wool coat..... awh an alla my Buccaneer stuff.....Hey, it's the best that I can do right now with the information available...... This is what I wore at a Renn Faire a few years ago.... I'm going to re-work a lot of it..... but, it is the best guess that I can figure a Buccaneer would have worn.....

Rats.... this should have been here, not in the "Steampunk thread"..... I'm takin' a break from the weed whacker (Dang thing was sold as a sewing machine, but all it can do right now is shred the thread....) I finished the "Combat Vest" and am (attempting) to sew a leather flight helmet.... I was digging through my stuff looking for the really old linen for a Buccaneer shirt, and found a russet brown jacket I forgot I'd bought... I'm Lining the thing with some light tan blanket (may be too warm to wear in Summer, unless I fold it up...) I still have to add the goggles loops, a brim, two "D" rings for the chin strap and sew the lining to the shell, so whenever the weed whacker decides to work again..... it should turn out great.... I might have to dig out the eyepatch I made... I wet molded the leather, and sewed on a skull and crossed bones necklace danglie... the cool part of it, is that the necklace danglie has holes for the nose and eyes, so I can see outta it..... Wax my mustache add a scar and I will make a down-right fearsome Airship Pyrate..... I also have to do some modification to the legs of the jophers that I made... but that should be easy enough... Then decide if I want boots with a ton of buckles, or to just make some tall gaiters... Pictures should be coming soon.......

"hey... I can s'plain everythin'....." what do ye mean that ain't no FAIR
