  1. Who needs ter drink rum when ya gots Jills Rum cake? It's mighty incredible I must say.
  2. Ah, Redd won't be hard ta find! He'll be loudly helpin' me "drum" up an audience fer me shows. And then after, helpin' me to plunder their dubloons into our hats after the show! I'm countin' on him keepin' the scurvy dogs from slippin' out the back as it's our only means of payment and we only get one shot a day at it!
  3. I'm gettin' dang excited meself!!! Ah the rum will be flowing and we'll be having a grand time! Can't ever get too excited about a pirate event!! How long NOW Petee?!
  4. Hehehe! That's what I like about our latest "Hollywood" pirates. POTC did a fantastic job of combining big screen pirates with plenty of filth and disease and scruffiness. That's one of my favorite parts of Sparrow is that he's still just a mangy bilge rat if you look close enough. I've had fun trying to come as close as possible to the carefully place filth and ditressing of my kit.
  5. Aye. Several of us will be talkin' like scabbarous dogs at the pirate store on Valencia in San Francisco. We'll be there from 2-5 or so and then off to Hooters on the warf to teach the wenches a thing or two about pirates!
  6. Aye Diego! My shows are at 3:30 each day now, so hopefully you can catch one! And the bigger the crowd the better as my only means of payment WILL be the passing of the hat at the finale!! So drag as much of the public with you as you can and I'll pilfer me weasly black guts out!!
  7. Thanks Pete. I was bored at work today and so I decided to finally put one together. The skull is the one tattooed on me arm. I surely hope to meet you at Ojai !! Be sure to catch my show or stop by and have a drink at the 7C's encampment. And I'm serious about entertaining friends with my finest sleight of hand up close and in person...and free of charge!
  8. Aye Patrick! The pirate invasion of the northern faire is always a blast!! I take it you'll be present at both events?
  9. Certainly hope ya can make it Captain! We miss ya somethin' terrible and I'm sure you'll enjoy the new show! Wish I could make it down to the ship.
  10. Actually they just informed me that I could have a spot on Saturday AND Sunday but at 3:30! I'm getting dizzy...but it's all good in the end. So it's 3:30 both days for a full 30 minutes of mayhem and magic. Of course I feel sorry for my daughter, she's the one in the basket gettin' spikes stuck through her!
  11. I will be there with my wife and college wench and me little dog too. Turns out I will only be performing my Secrets and Mysteries frome the Seven Seas on stage once. It'll be Saturday at 2:00. If'n ya miss it that's it! And it's a great show! I've seen it before. If ya do miss it stop by the Tales of the Seven Seas encampment and I'll do some sleight of hand fer ya...up close and personal. It will be fun indeed!
  12. Realistically, it's about making the event sponsors happy so they invite us back. If it's a sponsored event then you ought to know what the dress criteria is for what you're doing BEFORE you go as a matter of course. That's only common sense. That being the case, you dress appropriately and there is no problem. I'm saying that no one, such as another participant with only his own opinion to back him up, has the right to pick on anyone else. Unfortunately that happened over and over to me last year at Ojai. There were several members of several groups (PRP included) that harrassed me the whole time. I think part of that was the fact I am not from So-Cal and hadn't been very active on the pub, etc. So I was a new face and a "Hollywood- Sparrow type" on top of it. This year being booked on stage makes it easier for me, because then they just become fodder. I do love to take down a good heckler. I seriously hope that now that I've been there once before, that it will lighten up a bit so I can just enjoy myself.
  13. Yes I know there are many. Just as there are quite a few Barbossas. But that's just becasue they are such damn fun characters. The funny thing is that I have not come face to face with that many at all the events I've been to. With the exception of the two female jacks (who I believe are with PRP) that I met at Ojai last year. And THAT I found quite novel! :)
  14. Oh boy, here' comes the "we have too many Jack Sparrows " stuff I feel there should be room for all. For example, there's something very fun about going to a Dicken's faire and seeing folks dressed very historically accurately at the same time you have actors dressed as characters from fiction. Seems to me that unless an event is meant to be an historical recreation then at a pirate faire it would be entertaining to the public to see both historically accurate pirates as well as recreations of famous fictional characters as well!
  15. I'm a Pyrat XO Planter's Gold man me self. Love the hand blown bottle and extra bits. I'm sure I would love the Pyrat Cask, but seeing as how I am not going to spend that much money, I may never find out.
  16. Ah! Most excellent! Lookin' forward ta meetin' ya Mr. Bones. I'll be a might busy as I'll be performing a couple of stage shows a day, so I hope I don't miss the opportunity to meet ya. It should be a fine event!
  17. Thanks Pynch. I agree, she did an outstanding job. The shading is spot on! I had printed out just the black line work for her and then she eyeballed the color and shading from a print out I had of my artwork. This is the original, pretty close 'eh? :)
  18. fabric stores sell edging that is already folded I personally would add it prior to the folding and such Of course I would use a sewing machine but then again I'm a lazy "Hollywood Pirate"
  19. Aye Bess, I will be performing feats of juggling and prestidigitation, legerdemain and other big words I don't understand! And I'll doing terrible things to my daughter...by shoving her in a basket and sticking about a dozen spikes and swords through her. Of course she has agreed to do this to help pay her way through University. She'll be the one passing the hat after the shows. Not sure yet but I assume it'll be the stage toward the back.
  20. Well hells bells. Wish I could make it down for this one, it sounds like you will all have a blast. Can't make it due to the 26th being my 25th wedding anniversary and that being the final week of hell trying to final the new James Bond game. But I will fer sure be at Ojai! In fact I'm doing a couple of stage shows a day there. Hope ta meet many of you then. Have a great time this weekend
  21. Diego! If you make it to San Diego and find the Royaliste again... Could you please let them know that the rest of the crew from the Bay up north is missing them something fierce and sends our best wishes . Many of us had, shall we say, other obligations and could not make the sail down south. She is a fine and beautiful ship.
  22. Well...here goes this thread again. But I gots new ink. It's me own design (sorta). I did it as a 3D model so I could render it from any angle and light it various ways. Then took it into Photoshop and added the black and treated the color to be more suitable for a tattoo. It's based on the skull that's on the POTC 30th anniversary dedication plaque for the ride. It's a large bronze plaque/fountain that is in front of the building. Came out pretty good for a 3 hour straight inking.
  23. Hmmm. It seems to me that Asian pirates WERE indeed around back then. In fact there were some quite famous ones. I don't think that just beacause there are still Asian pirates today, thatthey should have them in the film. That sounds just a little too PC . I would rather them do whatever makes a good story. I think being politically correct is a bit over-rated anyway...are we not all pirates here anyway?
  24. Well outside of fellow crew on the Royaliste and Tales of the Seven Seas local folk... not many. I was at Ojai last year and met me a ton of people, but it was a wirl wind tour of hand shaking and I sure couldn't put many names with faces unfortunately. That and the amount of rum consumed all weekend long. I do remember meeting Tabitha Anne and Twiggy Hunt (long distance members of Tales) and of course the good folks from the Dirty Rotten Oar! And of course I've met Jamaica Rose the one and only. I did meet many from the PRP group and was given a tour of the camp but I will need to make a better point of meeting (and remembering) who be here on the pub this year!
