Ahoy, Delmar! Long time since we've heard from you. So the crewe of the Barking Spider will once again grace our sandy soil? I plan on making a raid, but most likely not until Sunday for the Bard challenge. Me mates, the Whiskey Bards will be attendance and I shall be there for that. Perhaps, I'll see you about then. ~BHP

Careful what ye wish for luv. . . . heheheh . . . . hey, I'm dressed as a Pyrate Santa on the Pyrates Way Winter cover. . .does that count? Yo ho ho, Santa Pirate Baby! A Visit From Whitebeard `Twas the night afore Christmas, and down below decks - all the prisoners was sleepin'- with chains `round their necks. A Mutineer was hung from the yardarm with care - so's all o' the others was sure to beware. The Crew was all nestled below in their bunks- they slept just like babies but smelled just like skunks. The mate with his cutlass, and me with me gun - had just settled in for a long drink o' rum When over the decks there arose such a clammer – I reached for me pistol, and pulled back the hammer. Away to the porthole I flew in a wink – I opened it wide, and threw up me drink. The moon to the west was the probable source – of the naggin' suspicion that we was off course. When what to me matey's one eye should appear – but eight flyin' goats and an old buccaneer. I went for me spyglass when first they appeared – and I know in a minute it must be WHITEBEARD. More rapid than seagulls they flew toward me quarters – and he lashed them, and cursed them, and barked out these orders: "Now, Long jack! Now, Silver!, Now Dutchman and Flint! – On Barnacle, and Bluster! On Cable and Quint. To the top o' mains'le, to the top o' the mast! Now cast of that line! No, not that one! OH, BLAST" As the ships that are pitchin' and driven by blizzard – when met with an obstacle, ram through it's gizzard. So into the crow's nest his vessel did crash – with a blasphemous curse, and the crack of a lash. And then, in a twinkling, I heard him aloft – as he climbed down the rigging all stealthy and soft. His eye, how it festered! His features, how salty! – He tripped and he fell, cause his vision was faulty. His ratty white hair was tied back with a scarf – and beard on his chin was all stained with barf. The stump of his knee was held up by a peg – and how well I remember – `twas I took his leg! He had a long, ragged scar, and stomach gigantic – that roiled when he walked like the northern Atlantic. He was ugly and fat – a right scurvy old elf – so I stayed where I was and threw up on myself. For the look in his eye and tilt of his head – soon gave me to know that we soon might be dead. He spoke not a word, but went straight to the hold and he stole all the silver, and bagged up the gold. And locking the treasure up inside a chest – went back up the rigging into the crow's nest. He boarded his craft, to his team gave a yell – and away they all flew just like bats out of hell! Bu I heard him proclaim, like a ghost from a far, - "I'll be back again next year so be ready --Harrr Harrrrrrr".

Ahhh, the trials and tribulations of publishers. I know it well. One could say 'pirating ideas' and another could say 'not re-inventing the wheel.' I say, "The more treasure, the merrier!" Now who's going to do a Pirate Captain centerfold? I can think of many of fine pirate captains to use for models.

I wish there was a way you could control the gender of the elf. When I did it for the family, it made my oldest cabin boy and wench elf. He didn't think that was funny. The rest of us did.

Maybe it's creepy because the voice is all wrong. Next time, I'll make the voice deeper. "why is the rum gone."

the Buccaneers Ball, Dec 1, in Glendale, AZ
Black Hearted Pearl replied to captainleoblackheart's topic in September
Aye lass, there be people there, but not ones that visit the pub with regularity. But you'll soon be pressganged by the Corsairs, I suspect. See ya there, lass. ~BHP -
the Buccaneers Ball, Dec 1, in Glendale, AZ
Black Hearted Pearl replied to captainleoblackheart's topic in September
Alas, this is the West Coast alternative to PIP since me dubloons are bit low to afford the Govern'rs tax on air fare. Alas, dear Hurricane, I was trying to talk me travel partner into sponsoring a small cruise during PIP with a stop, of course, in Key West. Perhaps next year I will be able to secure a ship. -

I understand a few tickets be left and the famous Jamaica Rose Barton will be in attendance. See you scallywags there. -
Maybe this is why Disney doesn't allow adults to wear costumes. I could powder a wig and spread a few people around.

Blu-Ray or HD DVD? Hmmm, I thought Disney had caved on only releasing in Blu-Ray? Everyone else has. I'm waiting for the dual player.

Have ya lost yar mind? Of course faire won out over family. What do ya expect from a pyrate?

I'm fine with someone throwing insults. If you can dish it out, you had better be able to take them as well. Let it roll off her back. My 'tiff' with this 'commentary' was her last statement of "I want a refund." The Wixons and participants work hard for this festival. Her 'shock jock' insults crossed the line of liable with this statement.

They sent her to the wrong faire. The lesbian faire is called Lilith Faire. Poor thing was so confused by seeing her cleavage for the first time.

I just caught the segment on 60 minutesvia Yahoo. The Maltese Falcon looks like a modern teched out version of the Star of India. Oh, and don't think that Tom Perkins isn't going to sell some of the technology developed for his yacht. It may have cost upwards of $150 million, but he'll recoup the development costs and then some. That's what venture capitalists do.

Coming to America for A Pirate Event
Black Hearted Pearl replied to Gentleman of Fortune's topic in Scuttlebutt
Here are my suggestions: Pyratecon 2008 in New Orleans in April or Pirates in Paradise 2008 Key West in late Nov/Dec. Ojai is a grand time, but I wouldn't travel half way around the world for just Ojai. There is nothing but the festival to do and see in that area. If I were looking for something on the west coast, I would do the Tallship Challenge in 2008. http://tallships.sailtraining.org/ -
I looked, but didn't see another posting such as this. A good friend of mine and my gun master is battling the fires, trying to save his home and equipment. His area was one of the first evacuated, but he went back to try and save his home. We haven't heard from him in over 24 hours. Please pray to whomever or whatever you believe that the winds and weather change. This fire is devasting the west coast pirate community. Your positive energy is greatly appreciated.
