The Pyrates of the Coast are anchoring in the Orlando and we're ready to start going out on voyages there - as many of you know, The Pyrates have been active in the Pacific Northwest and recently added a new crew in the Orlando/Tampa area. Captain Hurricane will be running the new Florida crewe and anyone who wants to do personal appearances, community service, festivals and other pillaging and plundering, let him know. The web site is at http://www.piratesofthecoast.com and my email is hurricane@piratesofthecoast.com Looking forward to meeting up with me mates on the other coast.

Finally, this pirate will get to go on a cruise. Was supposed to go on the Norway last September, but the ship's boiler blew up in May of last year. Then, we were going to go on the Rapsody of the Seas, which had a port call in Key West, with several options for tallship sailings as excursions. That one fell through. Finally, it looks like I'm going on the Carnival Elation going out of Galevston on the week of February 8. I was looking through the shore excusrion lists that Carnival has on their website, and found one that REALLY cought my attention in Cozumel: "Caribbean Pirates Lobster Dinner Cruise". It looks like the ONLY piratical themed shore excursion on the entir…

This fall, the theme for the Kansas City Renaissance Festival is PIRATES! The themes for each weekend have yet to be determined and the casting call is out. Anyone interested in participating or visiting can find the necessary information at: http://www.kcrenfest.com/ Jim Stamberger is the entertainment director and as I understand it he is difficult to work with. My own opinion (knowing the man only slightly) is that he is a director, meaning he can be difficult and doesn't always see eye to eye with the talent. My wife and I run the Sheepskin Shoppe there, so I don't have the time to be in the cast. We've done this show for ten years, so if anyone has any questions, fe…

I was just wondering, for you folk who know England better than me (ie anyone who's been there or knows a bit about it), what interesting 'must see' nautical sites are there in England? I'm planning a trip out there in March, and have pegged some of the obvious ones, such as the National Maritime Museum, the HMS Victory, Tower of London, and the Cutty Sark. I'm only going to be there a week, and am probably going to stick around London and Portsmouth for most of the time, with the slim possibility of headin' out to Southern Scotland to see a friend. As I've never been there I don't really know much of what to see. Are there any major things I'm missing relating to pyr…

Just got back from a cruise in the western Caribbean. We set sail from Tampa (home of the Buccaneers!). Made port in Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands; Costa Maya and Cozumel, Mexico; and Belize City, Belize. Had a great time. Got to swim with STINGRAYS! in Grand Cayman and with some other fishes in Cozumel. Met an ol' mate in Georgetown, Grand Cayman. Here's a pic: Broadside

We were thinking about going to the Renaissance Festival, near Tampa Florida, in early April for a day or two of our vacation. Has any one been to this? Are there any Pirates there? Or anyone selling Pirate Goods? Is the faire large or small? Any information on the Faire and camping areas close to Tampa would be greatly appreciated. I already checked the Website for the Faire, but I wanted information from other faire goers or participants. Thanks, Candy

Just got back from a trip to Charleston, SC where I dicovered, hands down, the greatest pirate themed restaruant ever. It's located on Daniel's Island, about 7 miles from dowtown Charleston. It has well over 100 arifacts displayed from bow to stern, and they're REAL!!!! They represent the Golden Age of Piracy, late 1600's to the early 1700's. the food's great, but I was more interested in checking out the decor. You can check their website out at www.qarevenge.com for a tour of their establishment. This pirate gives them an enthusiastic two cutlasses up!

No pirate's visit to San Francisco is complete without a visit to 826 Valencia. Don't let the simple name fool you, this store is 100% pirate! 826 Valencia was started by the author of a best-selling book that wanted to give something back to his community. So with the proceeds from his book, he started a program that offers free writing workshops, seminars, tutoring and homework help, SAT coaching, classes on how to make greeting cards and even on how to write letters to the colleges you want to attend. All of this is offered to the children of San Francisco at no charge. What funds these programs is the pirate store that is in the streetfront of the building at 826…

I recently read an article on geocaching, which is using a GPS to locate "treasure" left by random people that have marked the navigational locations, or clues as to where to go next to find said treasure. My take is that GPS's are expensive, but there are other ways o' finding longitude an' latitude... and it makes the hunt harder and more true to our pyratical natures! For more info, go to either: www.geocaching.com OR www.scgeocachers.og (for those in Sunny So. Cal) --Mab

Come august, I'm taking to the skies on a flyabout. My tentative plan is to fly south from Wisconsin, down to Texas and find a pass through into New Mexico. I'll be camping at small airports and doing various touristy things along the way. So what are your reccomendations of good things to see in the central states? (Piratey or otherwise) The Duchess
