Hi, just thought I would post this. I know someone previously posted before Christmas time about the parade in El Segundo where they had ren faire reveler's...so I thought I would add this. I live in town and saw this on the High School's marquee. El Segundo High School Rennaissance Faire March 25 10-4 Front Lawn. I just called the High School and talked to the Principal Maxine and she said that it was for the whole community and not just the students. I tried to ask her more but she did not know more...lol! She said someone named Gary Fritz (spelling?) set it up and he was in class. So if anyone lives in town or knows more about it than I, please feel free to…

Well, Buccaneer Days is fast approaching Corpus Christi texas and I was wondering if any of the readers of the forum here are aware of any local piratey events corresponding with the celebration. With the exception of a relatively small tavern-esque setup some ten years or so ago there really aren't anything on theme that I know of but I figure someone here might know more about it than I.

LORE Its next weekend, they are going to have a pirate workshop. I think some of our pub members are going to be teaching classes. I know our very own Cascabel will be teaching a class on flintlocks and black powder. I'm so there.

A free-form historical reenactment held every year in March and again in October / November at Fort Gaines, on Dauphin Island, Alabama (Ye SCA folk know it as Gatalop). Not strictly piratical or nautical: small groups recreate groups of the colonial era (roughly, 1699 - 1820's) of the Gulf region. Lot of fun! You can stay in the Fort itself or at the nearby Gulf Breeze Motel. Some of us Baratarians are going to go as British pirates / privateers of the 1780's. :) Capt. William

http://www.varf.org Anyone going? Anyone been in the past? This appears to be a small one (admission is only $5.00), but having never been before, I'm not sure how small or how worth the trip it actually is. First four weekends are at Lake Anna Winery. Final weekend is in Salem, VA.

Next weekend is the Kalamazoo Living History Show http://www.kalamazooshow.com/ One of the biggest indoor shows in the country. Lots of clothing dealers, books, firearms, edged weapons, plunder of all sorts. It's big enough and important enough for me to fly in from CT. Clarissa and I'll be there, look for me in the tan bumfreezer, canvas slops, ticking shirt and grey cocked hat. Hawkyns

Ye may already be aware that North Carolina's oldest town, Bath, is celebrating its 300th birthday this year. The NC General Assembly will kick off the celebrations on this Tuesday, 8 March, by meeting there for the first time since the 1700s. In addition to Ocracoke, Blackbeard called Bath home and it was here that Gov. Charles Eden reportedly conducted Blackbeard's marriage to his 14th bride. I be sure that Blackbeard will be well represented in Bath during the 2005 events and perchance ye will want to attend some of the celebrations. Here are a couple of links to Bath Tri-centennial celebrations: http://www.historicbathnc.com/ http://www.beaufort-county.com/Ba…

I am unsure how many of you are members of the SCA. I was curious as to anyone planning on attending Pennsic in August 2005. I was thinking it would be an opportunity to meet other pirates out there. Perhaps a gathering/party could be planned amongst those going.
