I Love this exchange made me roll on the floor with laughter when I read it... Person 1 : What's so dark about Robert's soul? Is it because he calls women "wenches"? Just kidding! :) My wife: arr- pirates have to have cool names. Person 1: Couldn't he be puresoul or starsoul or sunshinesoul or brightsoul? Moonsoul? My wife: no no no a pirate name has to inspire fear and awe. Who's going to surrender their ship to someone named Captain Sunshinesoul?

We be pirate actors, live steel performers and instructors, black powder capable and management willing. (As well as accomplished cooks and bakers) We put ashore here in FL over a year ago. Originally from Mass, moved to Maine and sailed with the likes of Crudbeard for a while. We likesed the warmth and sailed south to Jacksonville. We are here to learn from the best and help anyway we can to promote harmony and unity within the Pirate community. We have had the honor of working with a few of you, Capt Sterling a…

Hi, I'm new here, and figured I'd better introduce myself (doing things backwards, as I've posted a couple of times already ;-). I go by Mistress Dobyns most of the time, as I'm the wife of a Redcoat Captain in our RevWar unit (we're Loyalists who fought the Spanish at Pensacola). If you were at Fells Point Privateer Day, those were the guys in red marching 'round the town giving you grief *G* While I am not technically proficient in the 21st Century sense (as some of you might have figured out already), I can handle period skills just fine--spinning, dyeing, cooking, sewing, riding, dancing, etc. You probably won't find me in front of the crowd brandishing a sword, …

hi all I know I have been away for a looooooong time to be honest I did not think the Pub was still here, but I am glad I was wrong. You can all thank Admiral Kilo for bringing me back. It was because of his reply to some of my poems that brought me here. Alot has happen to me and as I can see to the pub as well! I LIKE IT! Since it is so early in the morn I will not go into detail of my adventures for now. I am glad to be here and hope you are all well. And glad to see me too.

I am Admiral Kilo, but you may all just call me Kilo if you'd prefer. Originally Captain Kilo, I have enjoyed acting as a pirate for several years. When I decided it was time to do as a captain should and put together an official crew as opposed to just having my crew be whoever I'm hanging out with, I found three ships-worth of followers ready to climb aboard. After a brief discussion concerning numbers and desired jobs on deck, we came to the conclusion that the three ships-worth of crewmen should probably cover the three ships they can and so we became a pirate fleet. Thus why I am now "Admiral" Kilo instead of Captain. Our flagship on the water is the Sea Wolf, but …

Ahoy there, mates. I'm Simon Drake, o' the Sunken Bones Society. We're an organization out here in Denver, Colorado what raises money for maritime causes by hosting the largest landlocked TLAPD party around! Yarr! I've long been into pirates and piracy and, coupled with a deep abiding love of history, of reenactment, and of the sea -- provided the perfect foundation for bein' a pirate as much o' the year as is mundanely possible. Tis a pleasure to finally make the acquaintance of those o' you here .... I've heard many a good tale about this place and just never have found the time to stop by. Now I'm kicking myself for not having done so sooner. Looking forward…

Now... always pondered about what a colonial town or city would be like with all of you! All of us living so close together (God and heaven help us all) in a colonial like town but with certain amenities (Those things we cannot simply live without and are necessary). So... If we had a colonial style town - say like Williamsburg, but a port town like Charleston - what would your business/career/trade be? What would your home look like? Would you be in town or outside of town? Just have fun with this, mates! Me? Well, my home would look much like the Kershaw-Cornwallis house (I've been in this house a few times, LOVE it)... My trade? Perhaps be one of the seamst…

I'm thinking about organizing a small pirate festival for the night of Sept. 18 and all day/night of the 19th. There are a lot of pirate enthusiasts around here and there are a lot of people who just like dressing up and having a good time. I'm looking for a few pointers, perhaps a few suggestions too. This is my current plan. Sept 18th - Evening Alcohol Bash - My dad is good friends with the owner of the local brewery, so I might be able to talk Silver Gulch into hosting a beer tasting shindig for pirates. If not that, then I might be able to get the local alcohol wholesale company to host one of their tastings, perhaps a Rum Tasting. The whole idea behind this is bee…

Ahoy mates, I think it's about time that Charleston, South Carolina had its own pirate festival. That's why I'm going to try and organize one. My plan would be to theme the festival around Blackbeard's blockade of Charles Town in 1718. I hope to be able to find a tall ship that would stand in as the Queen Anne's Revenge. There would be a pub crawl, a pirate camping area, and many other activities for both re-enacting pirates and families alike. I would love to be able to get a musical act, like Cap'n Bogg and Salty or the like. Charleston is rich in history and would be a great place to have such a festival. So, I really just want to know what my mates think of th…

Rats! Bosun Carmina! Black Hearted Pearl! Calico Ann Rackham! All a good pirate and worth their weight in gold and salt! And that's quite a bit, mates. So, Happy Birthday to all of ye. Hoist yo'r tankards, mates, and wish 'em well on this day of theirs. ~Lady B

Hello! I'm new to the forum. I'm a pirate enthusiast, history buff, a writer, an artist, and I do a lot of cooking. I can sew, thus I make my own costumes and I try to infuse a little pirate flair into my everyday wardrobe. I used to fence in high school and I practice every now and then. I'm trying to find a group of people who are interested (seriously interested) in founding a pirate-theme town...somewhere. Pirates all year round. It would be awesome.

After World War Two, with hundreds of thousands of new graves to tend, the tradition evolved that “Decoration Day,” would be a day of national commemoration "Memorial Day" A National moment of Remembrance requests silence for one minute, exactly at 3.00 pm (local time) when 'Taps' is played and reflect on the glory of those who have died for our country "For those directly affected..war seldom pays for it's losses" Please remember to observe this solemn moment. I will remember my father who was one of the lucky to come home, and all those who have served and fallen, served and retired and still do. My dad John served as Seargeant in the 272nd Anti tank division in WWI…

Being not English or Native English speaking, I frequently encounter the problem of not knowing a word in my own language (Dutch) while I do use the english word for years all the time, using all kinds of English based forums such as this one, my brain starts making cris cross connections between visual data and all kinds of tongues... For example the word "cup hilt" The Dutch translation google gifs, does not work if I use it as a search word again in google... Such specialised words would be hard to find in my own Printed dictionary. To make things wurse I do look for things considering Spanish speaking parts of the world. Knowing some Spanish I do get familiar with som…

A few days ago, I ordered a pair of wool felt hat blanks from Jas. Townsend and Son...they arrived today (bloody fast!) while I was grilling. One I plan on tacking up for a new tricorne, the other will be used as a round hat, shaped more for the 17th century. Planning on rubbing them a bit with a sanding block, to hopefully give them an aged and abused look, and I'll be getting some Sno Seal or similar to waterproof them. Me current hat is straw, which is good enough for warm weather, but not at all good for winter. And its got so many holes it lets the water in when it rains.

Ahoy! I'm Pearly Hawkins Hooke. I'm new to this forum and would like to introduce myself. I'm the Captain of the Tiffing Hysteria, which is a purely fictional ship, but is crewed by actual real people. We call ourselves The Curvy Dogs because so far, we're all of the female persuasion. (Except for the Rear Admiral, but that's another story).

Some of you have been asking about chat and its many uses, and many of you have probably tried the Pub Chat with mixed results, so I've been asked to elaborate on some of the problems that we're having and that have been experienced by several users. First - The status of ACTIVE USERS is poor at best. The ACTIVE USERS information on the main page and on the CHAT page itself seldom shows who is actually in the room. I have been in chat when it showed only one active user when as many as ten were chatting back and forth, so you can simply ignore that information. It is seldom accurate. Second - The Chat window will occasionally lock up or crash your browser when five …
