Ok, first off (and I expect I'll wind up repeating this) I'm not talking about your fantasy about 69 virgins and 3 slim llamas. Please save that nonsensical guff for The Way to a Pyrate's Heart forum. I'm asking what you do when you've a skinfull of the stuff. Are you playful? Belligerent? Coy? Dippy? Obnoxious? Dancing on the tables? I was dining with friends this eve and watching a couple sink slowly into intoxication. At the start of the dinner, She had a scarf on and her arms literally in front of her and He looked distracted and worried about something. By the end of the dinner, Her hair was down, the scarf off and the elbows were splayed on the table while He gaz…

The little swabs dad made me this for mothers day. It was too cool not to share with my pirate friends. The outside: The inside: The "M" is totally inspired & the "P", as hangmen is my personal favorite. The pun is still making me giggle. I'm a huge "punster". I can't believe he managed to pull one on me! Happy Mother's Day to all the other pirate mom's out there!

Warning! This is a really cheap attempt at viral marketing from the makers of the movie The Golden Compass. (Even worse - it works because I'm posting this.) This looks to be a neat movie coming out this December in the sort of Chronicles of Narnia vein. A friend sent me the link which allows you to go to the page and determine your "dæmon." (A "dæmon" or "familiar" is an animal that is linked to you in a meaningful way.) To get to that part of the page, select "dæmon" from the tabs at the top and then select "Meet your dæmon" from the main page. You answer 20 questions and get an answer. http://www.goldencompassmovie.com Note: I'm not a big fan of the dæmon concept a…

OK, mates... here's th' deal... I'm leaving the 8th for a 2 week trip with some classmates of mine. We get to go to 3 theme parks. And alas, the Magic Kingdom isn't one of them. Everyone wants to go see th' bleedin' animals at Animal Kingdom. BUT... I can go to the Magic Kingdom IF someone kidnaps me for the day. Not sure which day it will be (yet)... either the 11th... the 13th ... or the 15th. I'll post here immediately when I find out what day.. Hopefully before we leave. If not... best to contact me via cell phone But isn't there some pirate out there who's willing and able to commandeer and kidnap this pirate Lady so she can enjoy the PotC ride at the Mag…

I'm trying to find a picture that I know is out there somewhere of a schooner towing an old tug (I believe a steam powered one). I think the schooner was the A.J. Meerwald, though I'm far from certain. I thought I probably saw it on the pub somewhere, or at least someone might know where to find it. It's for a long-standing debate with my CO and XO about the merits of sail power. Coastie

Where have you wound up while on your way to a reenactment, festival, fair, party, whatnot.... dressed in all yer spledour? (Gas station, 7-11, pulled over perhaps? lol!) I have always kept one braid tied in a good antique bit o ribbon which I tuck up under me long hair with a clip when at work. One day it came undone and when my boss asked about it I just smiled and said "I'd tell ye but then I'd have ta kill ye" He didn't ask any more questions.. Good thing he has a sense of humor and I do my job well LOL. I used to work in the music industry where all manner of crazy fashion is acceptable, but now I wears a suit at the airport..little do they all know the danger in…

Not stirring the pot or nothing... I always cringe at the "What do you think of my XYZ" posts (here and other places). Now really, if you cared what we thought, shouldn't you have asked before you made the purchase (or made the item or ???)? Its like the friend that, after dating someone for 6 months or more says to you... "Hey, what do you think of my boyfriend Mark?" when they are already head over heels with that person. The time to ask was 5 months and 3 weeks ago. Now, if I tell you the truth and say, "well, I can't get past the fact that he treats you like dirt and is a self centered sob", I only alienate me from my friend. So goes the, "Hey, what do you th…

And I thought we pirates were living in the past. Welcome to the 21st century, Ashburn, Georgia. Students attend school's first integrated prom POSTED: 5:33 p.m. EDT, April 23, 2007 By Kristi Keck ASHBURN, Georgia (CNN) -- Students of Turner County High School started what they hope will become a new tradition: Black and white students attended the prom together for the first time on Saturday. In previous years, parents had organized private, segregated dances for students of the school in rural Ashburn, Georgia, 160 miles south of Atlanta. "Whites always come to this one and blacks always go to this one," said Lacey Adkinson, a 14-year-old freshman at the school o…

Should we be concerned about the Bilgemunky show of shows? From... http://blog.wired.com/music/2007/04/sign_t...the_petiti.html Save Internet Radio From Perishing on May 15th There are a number of petitions floating around that you can sign to express your support for webcasters in the face of the disastrous royalty rates decided on and recently upheld by the Copyright Royalty Board. Those in support of internet radio should sign the official petition at savenetradio.org. The site also offers directions for musicians and music fans to contact their Congressional representative. This is important; Congress could act before May 15th, when the rates are scheduled to g…

WAYNESBURG, Ky. - Miss America 1944 has a talent that likely has never appeared on a beauty pageant stage: She fired a handgun to shoot out a vehicle's tires and stop an intruder. Venus Ramey, 82, confronted a man on her farm in south-central Kentucky last week after she saw her dog run into a storage building where thieves had previously made off with old farm equipment. Ramey said the man told her he would leave. "I said, 'Oh, no you won't,' and I shot their tires so they couldn't leave," Ramey said. She had to balance on her walker as she pulled out a snub-nosed .38-caliber handgun. "I didn't even think twice. I just went and did it," she said. "If they'd even dar…

I'm sorry, but I have to get this off my chest and out to whatever... First I feel such sadness, that something so senseless as killing 32 people that had such promise for our world, should affect me so... I didn't know anyone who went or goes there... Second the fact that states like Virginia have no gun laws as to purchasing just angers me.... Tonight I will be lighting a special candle for the comfort of those who have passed, and for those of who grieve....and for my own comfort....
