Hey!  FG Crew!  See?  Are you reading this?  This is what I am all on about.  Granted it was a lot of work, but I know we pleased every single kid who signed up... but here is the long-awaited public acknowledgement that we also impressed the organizers.  Expand our role if we must, but what we did wasn't broken, so there seems little need in fixing it.

Pete, I AM reading this thread (wow - lots to catch up on) and you know I stand with you on the whole Articles thing. And, Capn Jake, I appreciate your kind words. I think I speak for the crew when I say we love what we do. And we are so glad that the public and the Festival folk love it, too.

I am thrilled at the idea of meeting and mingling with the crew of the Archangel (and any other crews). Perhaps this was covered and I missed it, but are there expanded or amended plans for the Buccaneer Bash on Friday? It would be nice to have a few hours to really hang out with the other groups before we get busy entertaining the public on Saturday...just a thought.

My Word, this is shaping up to be a fun event...isn't it? B)

I can say that we would all like to have some time (perhaps Friday night) to gather and converse with all of you. This way we will be able to discuss, brainstorm buddy up to all of you. Hmmm...is it June yet?

hmmm in my humble opinion, Friday night should be the night to be drawing in the public, save the party for Saturday... B)

More Articles added to the pile today. Soon I need to concentrate on staining them all ... perhaps over the holiday weekend I will find some justification to make myself 60 cups of tea.

Look at me ... preparing for this June event since before November. Barely seven months to go now, and I am already acknowledging it will not be enough time to do what needs to be done.

(Cheeky Actress): I can say that we would all like to have some time (perhaps Friday night) to gather and converse with all of you. This way we will be able to discuss, brainstorm buddy up to all of you.

(Capt. Sterling): ... in my humble opinion, Friday night should be the night to be drawing in the public, save the party for Saturday

I hope my two ships (Fool's Gold and Archangel) will be able to find a time for some common activity together -- i.e.: drinks and/or dinner. Looks to be a good time. Last year, Saturday worked well for a mid-event dinner.

--------------------------

By the way -- completely change of topic -- my Grogtini recipe (posted elsewhere) is mighty fine indeed with 1 part of Captain Morgan Spiced Rum to 3 parts Captain Morgan's Tattoo Rum (easy ratio if based on 4 shots rum) with other proportions according to the recipe. Mighty fine indeed. I think I'll drunkenly swagger (stagger?) over to that thread and post this update....

... And maybe it's the Grogtinis but, man, I miss you all.

Maybe it's not the Grogtinis. Happy Thanksgiving to ALL my Pirate Friends -- whether or not you be on the collective crews of the Archangel and/or Fool's Gold ... or Pirate Brethren ... or EVERYONE.

There is a web page, currently under construction. Give them a bit and then we shall all be able to take a gander! ;)

I agree Capt!

Friday should be a promo night to get the word out and work the town! It can also be an opportunity to straighten out any loose strings or preproduction issues which need to be addressed.

Saturday is nothing but game on, til the crowd leaves.... Then Game on!!! ;)

I know I'm coming in late to this conversation - but is there a good place to see photos of the event?

Review this topic thread from the beginning, and I believe there are a number of photos... at least some that I posted (note -- they will not have been posted before June 2006).

There is also another thread somewhere in the RAIDS section about this event that has some photos -- if I recall correctly.

Okay, I went back and checked -- my pictures from this event are on PAGE 8 of this topic thread. Not all that many, but that's becasue I was too busy being photographed than taking pictures of others.

Aye that would be an important factor for my crew as well.

If memory serves me well, Captain Sterling...Port Washington is a lovely town. Small enough to walk the downtown area and see lake Michigan from some of local pubs ( :P )

Lovely place for a party....Aye Rats?

Camping is still a sticky wicket. There is still a campground nearby, but on-site camping still has not been settled. For any of you who were at the event last year you may recall that as you drive north up the hill there are wooded parks on the left and right of the road. We almost got that sanctioned for participant camping last year. The problem was that it would have had to have been "period" camping (no modern tents visible) and there would have to be people remaining in camp to watch over gear. As the parks were set apart from the festival grounds by a few blocks we didn't push that because it would have split the focus of the event. Kim McCulloch, the producer of the show, is still working hard to come up with a fair and equitable solution that will work for the Port Washington government (the "real" ones) and the reenactors.

News to follow as it happens.

I dropped this URL into the other thread that was started about this event, but I'll repeat it here. Check the "unofficial" Port Washington Pirate Festival web site for a sneak preview of some of the details for this year's event. The caveat is that not all details are necessarily up-to-date or accurate. http://www.deancalin.com/pwpf07/
