There there, now, MadL.

Tis a terrible thought, mate. A pirate values their drinking utensil as they value their piratical rights. Tis a terrible loss indeed.

Tired and slightly weak. I had a hell of a night last night! I had a bad migraine that took forever to go away. I may not get these stupid things that often like I used to, but damn, when they do come it kicks my booty! I tried different things to keep it from getting worse, but nothing seemed to help. I then went and laid in my room, turned off all lights, fluffed up the pillows and put another pillow on my head. It kind of worked for awhile. I even slept a little bit. But in the wee hours of the morning the migraine was still there, but moved to the back of my head, ugh! It hurt to lay on my back, but laying on my tummy didn't help either. I got up and moped about like a zombie, I was so tired. I also started to have an upset stomach. Migraines make me nauseous sometimes, but I refused to do any kind of puking. I sat very still and ate some crackers, which helped. Once my stomach wasn't queasy I took some advil to get rid of the remaining part of the pain. As it slowly started to kick in I dragged my tired self back into bed and was able to sleep again without pain. Only reason why I'm awake now is to eat a light breakfast, my stomach yelled at me. I don't want to get another headache from waiting too long to eat. I'm going to crawl back into bed soon, I'm still quite tired. :(

Yikes, Christine! That sounds nasty. I hope you feel better soon.

I had a really bad migraine on Wednesday afternoon. I think it was from all the stormy weather we've been having. Unfortunately, it did make me sick to my stomach, and my digestion still hasn't fully recovered yet. :(

And doctors STILL haven't a clue what be causing those headaches in such strong intensity yet?

Girl, that's just not right that ye go through that much pain. Surely there is something they can do, they gotta pick up on something soon. That just doesn't sound like such painful headaches as that don't and aren't normal nor natural. :(

I feel for ya though.

Tired.

I think I'm about to have a headache myself. Luckily... no. Had a nasty sinus headache last night that just made me sick to my stomach, eyes hurt and the nose in so much pain it was incredible! I finally just turned in for the night. Took me a while to sleep.

Annoyed cause a neighbor is cranking up their music WAY too loud. Ugh... I so tire of this city.

God get me out of here... NOW!!!

Hope the Doctors find something, Christine, that is causing those heaaches and resolve and cure it my dear. No need for you to be suffering like that for this long. Good God!

Hmmm... sounds like it's the weekend for headaches. B)

Hope you feel better soon, Hester.

Christine; horrible migraines eh? During th' flare ups do ye also find yerself sensitive t' light and noise? Do they mostly come at night or anytime ye try t' lay down and close yer eyes?

I had a bout with such pain naught be 7 or 8 year ago; I was put through all kinds of tests and catscans and all kinds o' theory what might be cuas'n them. And for me it was really bad as I never suffer from even minor headaches so a migraine t' me was just unbearable. They began first by com'n at night, would last for an hour or two then go away. First I tried ice packs, got a little reliefe but then that stopped work'n, then I tried heat packs (soak'n a wet rag and put it in th' microwave) that helped but then later it did naught, then they became more frequent, soon they would naught let me sleep at night at all, for almost three weeks I got perhaps 1 hour o' sleep a night - If That!

Well, as they began t' attack me during the day I got a chance once that I felt one begining so I called the doctor and told him I was on me way; up till this point he had never examined me DURING an 'attack'. By th' time I got to his office it was full on PAIN, I practicaly crawled into he's office I did.

As I sat on he's examining table with me head in me hands and trying t' block th' light from me eyes he came in and told me to tip me head back, then he said "Do Not Sniff" and sprayed something up me nose...?

I am sorry I can not recall what it was called but he said he had just gotten them as 'samples' of some new medicine that had just come out. Like a miracle, within seconds I could feel th' pain literaly melt away!!!

Within a minute or two it was gone! I looked up at he'm and asked what that was, he just looked at me puzzled. He gave me about 4 or 5 of these pre-measured little nasal shooters and told me to take JUST ONE at the begining of me pain then report back after they were all gone.

When I returned and told he'm how well they worked for me he said "I think we just discovered a new use for this ......(what ever it was called)"

Well, they came in pre-measured doses and about 40 to a box, but they were EXPENSIVE! About $200 per box I think he said, and he said he did naught know how long me insurance would let me have it so we still needed to find what was causing me pain!!!

Shortly before th' insurance did cut me off I told him how I really needed to find the cause as I had two teeth that where in need o' a root channal and the dentist was refusing to drill until me migraine issue was resolved as she felt her work would inflame me migraine and cause me more pain...well, I had already been sent to two dental specialists, a sinus specialist, a brain doctor, and I do naught know what else but this time me doctor (M.D. type) told me he was sending me to he's own personal dentist.

I went t' he's dentist and he said I had early stage o' gum condition, forget what he called it, and I was in need of all four quadrants to have surgery (one quad at a time). He said me condition was early but if we waited then it could become worse fast...so I agreed. After about four weeks (one quad a week) he was done - AND my migraines were gone too!!!

When I asked th' MD and the DD if there was a connection the dentist said he feels there well could have been, he explained that when teeth and/or gums go bad they can trigger all kind o' other stuff such as headaches, sinus problems, earaches, and more.

but then that was just my situation; during all them earlier tests they gave plenty more explainations o' what might be cuase'n the pain.

Aye - inside our heads is still mysterious territory, physiologically speaking.

I'm in the Boston area - about thirty miles northwest, actually, although there IS no such concept as east or west in the Boston area. So speaking in Bostonian, I'm thirty miles north of Boston.

I just got back from a four-hour fool's errand to attempt to go to the Salem Maritime Museum. Four hours as in I was on the road all that time gnashing my teeth. Since I have navigated successfully through some really difficult areas over the years in my travels, I figured I'd be able to do this, but no dice. I kept thinking the county planners must absolutely LOATHE having visitors to the area.

Whoever designed the roads and highways in and around Boston must have been on serious hallucinogens - or was a real sadist. I kept overhearing horror stories from fellow travelers about what a nightmare the area was to navigate in and can confirm they are true. I talked to a few residents and they said the same thing - even if you've lived here for years it's remarkably easy to get lost. And most locals just know their own area - perhaps their town and two neighboring towns but that's it. Learning how to get around further than that is too difficult.

Very few of the roads are marked except on the very start and very end and to make matters worse, every few blocks, the name of the road changes. But because there aren't any street signs, you just have to take it on faith that the street you are on is the right one because you think you might have taken the correct way on those last three forks that weren't on the map...

Did you know there are no highways that go east or west in the Boston area? They ALL go north and south - even the ones that go east and west. So you have to make your best guess whether that highway that is in reality headed east will be north or south - toss a coin. Also, very few of the exits actually indicate what the exit will actually go to. It will say one thing but when you take the exit you won't actually be where the exit indicated. When you ask a local, they'll say, "no you have to take __________ exit." And you're wondering - why doesn't the Salem exit actually go to Salem? (The Salem exit takes you to Beverly, not to Salem. And to confuse matters, a few exits before the Salem exit is a Salem Street exit - it doesn't go to Salem either.)

Can you tell I've had a rough afternoon? At any rate, as soon as I'm done teaching I'm wiping this place from the soles of my shoes and getting the hell away from here. I told Jack to put a bullet in my head if I ever got an attack of the stupids and suggested we come here.

The migraines are actually better than what they were before. I've always had migraines during that time of the month, but when I got on the pill, over time, they grew worse. It started hitting me all different times, not just during lovely Mr. Monthly. That was the main reason I got off the pill, the migraines were so severe. Once I got off the pill the migraines returned to just during that time of the month. I still don't like them when they hit, but at least they're not as severe. Yes MadL, I am sensitive to light and noise when the pain gets really bad. I try to keep it from getting to that point and usually I can stop it with advil. There are times tho it just goes full blown and knocks me out.

Wow, Jill. Now I'm really glad I took the commuter train when I went from Boston to Salem. (Actually, I don't drive, so that was my only option.)

I really felt quite intrepid managing that side-trip all on my own. I'd gone to Boston with my husband, who was on a business trip. He had meetings all day long, so I was on my own for sight-seeing during the daytime.

Wow, Jill, sounds like the city that originated road-rage. Might have been easier to take a taxi, but I bet it would have cost a fortune.

As for me, I'm feeling frustrated. I will be so glad when my 1970 Dodge Challenger finally sells. Then I will stop getting calls from:

Old farts who just want to talk about how they used to own one, but can't afford to buy one now.

Guys who ask to speak to my husband (apparently women don't own classic cars)

Jobbers trying to convince me they can sell my car for me — for a fat commission of course!

Guys who ask for reams of pictures to be e-mailed, and then never call back.

Guys who say they are coming out to look at the car, and never show up.

Car collectors who know damn well what the car is worth, but don't want to pay it.

Guys trying to sell me parts — for a car I'm not keeping.

Etc., etc., etc.

Tired and yawning here. Mellow and hopeful.

Truck is on it's way to getting fixed, jeep is gone! ::: bawls::: had many a great memory with that old jeep. The coinage from the jeep is going towards fixing that damned truck. :::Grumbles::: But necessary for me to get around so I can get chores done and get some food and supplies.

Annoyed over the weekend with my mom and aunt hounding me to get my butt down to Washington to live near them. Well, my desire is to be more by Chicago and Milwaukee. ugh...

Still nothing job wise... tis a hint from God... I'm NOT suppose to be here I guess.

Just taking things one day at a time.

Need to see a chiropractor cause my back all up and down it is hurting. Can't do that until the truck is fixed.

Some folks want me to attend some upcoming events, but those are up in the air and pending.

Poor Magellan was sick today.

Just the norm with me.... but staying mellow and hopeful.

Drugged into a state of relative tranquility!

Had my chimney torn down this morning, while I was inside the house. My office was shaking as the sledehammers swung, and I could hear chunks of brick falling down inside the chimney into the antique cast-iron & ceramic tile fireplace. I was afraid my living room ceiling was going to come down at one point. Eeek!

I was totally freaked out and nearly in tears, thinking I'd made a very bad decision to agree to have this work done.

So, anyway, I dug to the back of my medicine chest and found a bottle of anti-anxiety meds for my fear of flying, and popped one of those. After a few minutes, the panic subsided, and I became more confident that my ceiling and fireplace would survive the assault. Within a couple hours, the workers had finished and vacated, leaving the outside looking reasonably tidy (and a good thing too, because they'd had to access the chimney via my neighbours' front yard).

Hopefully, tomorrow's scheduled work of building the new chimney will be much more sedate and less nerve-racking.

Oooo... good luck, Hester!

Not had that done but I do so love a fire place! I love mine. Magellan loves it, too. I've got it decorated with an old style broom, my dutch ovens, some firewood in ametal holder, etc... looks rustic.

Hopefully it won't be so stressful tomorrow as it was today.
