Yes, first thing that comes to mind is Captain jack's from PotC. he wears a very long sash tied twice round under hsi belt. I think it looks great. I wear a sash under my belt as well, it somehow ties everything together with the flowy-ness of the fabric. I suggest making yer own, Desert Pyrate. They are easy to make and probably cheaper than buying one. I have made many for my friends and would offer to make one for a small sum. Captain Wolfy Wench

Bloody Bess Flint Every pirate lives for something different. For some, it's the open sea. For others (the masochists), it's the food. For you, it's definitely the fighting. Like the rock flint, you're hard and sharp. But, also like flint, you're easily chipped, and sparky. Arr! Heh heh heh. They MUST be mad, I'm as harmless as... Kermit the Frog. *spills the blood of mortals on the floor* Captain Wolfy Wench

Yar, I noticed how many posts 'e 'ad; seems like he's got ENOUGH time to post, is all. Friendly sort o' pyrate, then. Captain Wolfy Wench

I's prolly shouldn't even answer, becuase some of it doesn't apply to me. Fer one, since I'm Captain WOLFY Wench, I gotta have the tail. It's just... me look, lad. 'S me name. :) Second, I've been to a few faires, and the last pirate one I attended, my costume was not ready, so I was in street clothes. I also had my mum and friend there who thought me a little crazy for wanting to buy a pistol. Third, gods, if they would SEND ME my ordered sword already, I would sure as hell use it! I'm actually underage for all of this, but only a few months until 18! *cheers* Fourth, I've only been really making costumes and such for a few years, so I'm not so broken in yet. Especially me Captain Wolf costume. I don't have my real one yet, I'm getting it made, and shall have it for whatever costume event there is next. So I guess I can say that exact historical accuracy isn't all that important to me, but I won't be running around with shotguns or crossbows. Not that... that's allowed, but like I care! I guess that there should be a list of rules or guidelines for Faire Wear if'n you think it's really getting out of control. And since yer a re-enactor, Hawkyns, I'm guessin' that the historical accuracy is important to ye. Re-enacting and faires for celebration are a bit different, but they can be mingled. I'm not yet old enough or have enough resources to be a re-enactor yet, but methinks I'll get into it when I get a car and the liberty/time to drive freely. Captain Wolfy Wench

...themselves "pilots" back in the days? Or even use the word "pilot" in any form. I read it in a historical novel somewhere and I begin to wonder. It was a navigator who said this of himself. O_o Captain Wolfy Wench

Methinks if ye ask one of these lads, they can tell ye how to mold the leather so the brim doesn't come out too far. Otherwise, I'll know ye'll have fun wif the hat. :) Yay, pictures!! Captain Wolfy Wench

Yer Musical Inclinations... What be they?
Captian Wolfy Wench replied to TalesOfTheSevenSeas's topic in Music & Shanties
Hahar, the tuba? I am SO not musically talented at all. Methinks I'm a bit tone-deaf, really. I'm all about the drawing, though. Captain Wolfy Wench -
Confusion about a scene in "Pirates"
Captian Wolfy Wench replied to Scarlotte the Harlotte's topic in Scuttlebutt
Aye, he cut his hand and smeared some o' his blood on the coin becuase Will needed all the coins and blood from each one affected with the curse to remove it. "Blood repayed"... remember that line? Tha's it. :) Jus' a suggestion, but next time, things about pirate movies and such go under "Pirate Pop." Captain Wolfy Wench -
Shameless plug excused... we're all pyrates here. Aye, then I wish ye to break a pegleg, since the furthest I'll be away from me home is the sea port. And I offer ye a keg of leg once yer audience'll be beggin' fer more! *smacks a wooden pegleg on a keg, not making any sense* Captain Wolfy Wench

Two of me absolute fav'rite fandoms, arr! This is wonderful, 'specially since ye used a picture of the cards from the backs of the old Star Wars toys. Nice manip, by the way. Actually, I compared PotC to SW awhile ago wif me friends, and there's always one of th bets lines from Empire Strikes Back to refer to... Lando: Han, you old pirate... Huzzah! Captain Wolfy Wench, a 'appy SW fan

Hmm, historical accuracy is a tricky bit. If ye have no idea what period/area yer tryin' to recreate, pick up a few films and see. I don' reccomend copyin' costumes from films, however; just use 'em as a way to get some ideas flowin'. Then ye can pick up a few books, or go online and check out some costume recreators and costumes fer sale. For weapons and such, I reccomend the same route and research yer way into the popular pistols and swords of the time. Low-ranking seamen typically didn't have all that much to wear: a pair of old breeches, shirt, belt, etc. Pirates WERE sailors, as Capn William said, so it's not so much a step from cabin boys, clothin'-wise. Good luck, and tell us what becomes of yer costumin' adventures! Captain Wolfy Wench

I caught me a showin' of Peter Pan on Christmas day with three of me friends, one of which is a Jason Isaacs fan like me. And I've got to say I loved the film. Not only is Jason the SHEXIEST dread pirate ever, he's just the grea'est Mr. Darling! Darlin' indeed, he is. I say to hell wif the critics, 'cuz I hate 'em anyway, but they've no right to say anything about the accuracy of the film compared to the book. And yer right, it's been tradition for Hook and Mr. Darling to be played by the same actor. I dun remember when it started, but it was the same in the old '50s(?) play. A rec to most people who appreciate such films, and indeed for all you pyrates out there! Wendy was a foolish girl for not joinin' the pirate crew. I think I cheered the loudest ou' of anyone when they asked the lass... Lady Elaina... nice pic in yer sig, btw. Captain Wolfy Wench

I'm sure there're also Ren Faires out there, you jus' gotta look for 'em! Captain Wolfy Wench

POTC SHEET MUSIC!!!!!!!!!!!
Captian Wolfy Wench replied to TalesOfTheSevenSeas's topic in Music & Shanties
Oh my, that is so awesome! I didn't think they would have sheet music, bu' I guess it's not so far-fetched becuase of how popular the movie got. The music is superb, and if I played any instrument, I would so buy it! Thanks fer the link, SevenSeas! Captain Wolfy Wench -
Sounds like ye had a grand time anyway! Hey, you made it out there in the Marina? I'm so close by there, I wish I could've seen 'er in me own port, but alas, I got REAL sick. Where be yer own port, endkaos? I saw the Lady, the Chieftain, the Lynx and the Swift all in the Long Beach port on Sunday as a farewell to me winter break. It was a bit cold in me costume becuase I had the breeches on with stockings under it, so me legs were freezing, and the wind kept going down me shirt, so there was no way fer me to keep warm. But it was fun anyway. I was on the Chieftain, and she's a slow lass, but it was alright becuase I got to see the Lady from far off! She's quite a beautiful ship, and I got lots of nice pictures. Hope everyone gets a chance to see her before she gets painted back to her original colors! Maybe be some of the last chances to see her Disney paints! Captain Wolfy Wench
