  1. wooooooooo hooooooooooo!! know i know micheal and kate and mission!! and i cant wait to see and meet everyone else...... mission -- you bring the medical equipment!!! i just told grace and she said " really? really? mission is going to be there??? really?"....and she knows just where her fan and period appropriate dolly are!! {now i get to make her pockets to go under her skirts}--and the boys are already teasing her saying " we saw mission in OHIO ! HA HA! and kate and micheal!! HA HA!" and, i am not going to keep some of our little people under a tent--we have one child who ESCAPES{ zack on crack as i call him on occasion} ... so he will be in the rv with me and those who prefer to sleep and not become mosquito fodder during the night!! i promise to bring monster cookies and all my cooking skills.....and to stuff all of your littel gizzards full to overflowing!! LOL!!
  2. the most powerful prayer i know----- Oh Blood and water that gushed forth from the heart of Jesus as a fountain of mercy, i trust in you! capn, midnight, many prayers to assist you and your family at this moment and for all times.....may you and your family know and feel Jesus' love and care and arms wrapped around you now and always...

  5. well--- do we need/want a general eating place people can come and grab a snack hot off the fire pit from?--------------can i volunteer for that? i swear i can cook good over an open fire!! so far my to bring list says: 1. get answers to above questions.... 1a. monster cookies 2. husband 3. 7 out of nine children {{the 5,7,9,11,13,17,21 year olds}}
  6. that is amazing! i cant wait to see a pic of you in it!! ohhh-- and i shall prowl for some green silk of just the right shade-- so you can have 2 skirts to go with the mantua!!-- perhaps some thing sage-y........ make the flowers POP on the mantua!! absolutely amazing fabulous work!! good for you!! makes me down right proud to say i know yah!! now i shall pray for a screw up say , perhaps size 4-6?....... a slip of the scissors? :) cant wait to see what you come up with next!!!
  7. couple o' idears!! try ace bandages wrapped around the calves as many times as need be to keep them where you want them-- go up and down the length of your leg evenly building up to the girth you need in the gastrocnemius muscle area to keep them up..... then get the self sticking bandages to adhere the ace bandages in place.. forget about those wing shaped metal things--worthless!! CAVEAT-- DONT CUT OFF THE CIRCULATION TO YOUR FEET! [ why do i feel the need to issue a caveat?][ safety first!] or how about velcro around the inside of the boot and the opposite side of the velcro to your socks? or how about stuffing your socks from top to bottom......... or how about suffing your boot with material from ankle to knee area......... i would say a fat transplant would be way down on the list for curing this slight problem.. but i will suggest it anyway--there are plastic surgeons who would do this if you asked them--- good luck!
  8. some one tell silas to down load the pics so you can see what i mean if you cant imagine what i am speaking of......
  9. was wondering for all you that sew these peices, IF you have ever thought of simply adding longer panels/adjusting the length of/ to a peplum skirt........ either that OR by adding a piece of hourglass shaped fabric with the box pleats already sewn into them } to the peplum already made????????--and adding them to each peice of peplum seaming........ { have any of yah madea bikini? simply hour glass shape for the bottom--but that shape smallish at the top and flared like bell bottom jeans--OH LA LA! instant placket to be added for awesoem drape and fold!!} i have a celtic kacket pattern from clotilde that is DEAD on for a mantua shaping...... its only fault being that it needs lengthening..........{and i am so doing} i think of allllllllll the gowns that i have seen either in paintings or actual museum peices that drape so beautifully--- and although i am using modern sewing methods the look should be dead on { just dont come lift my hems to see !} would appreciate any advice....... i have the RH pattern for mantua.......for guidelines and shape definition.... great help but not what i am looking for in a finished peice.......
  10. oh---- yah,,,, i can embellish an encampment with children..........ROTFLOL!!! IT IS GETTING THE youngest to wear a chemise shift......after years of wearing pants! ahhhh so easily we become accustomed to what is.............
  11. i dont know a complete history of yeast as of yet-- just parts of it....cake form was not avalailable til microscope invented to label genus species...and how each genus species makes certain bread so precise and repeatable recipe wise.......... and like cheese{ which uses bacteria NOT yeast}, certain yeast strains are avalaible ONLY in certain locales....... so---- we can never really hope to make "exact" gaop bread--even historically the flora and fauna changes over time with the input and transfer of plants from one country to another decimating and encouraging new strains to grow and be discovered wine producing countries and vintners knew more than they could explain....but closely gaurded their secret yeast strains......soils and years of the spent grapes beign added back into the soils to give the next years crops the proper/ same yeast back to teh grapes to grow a new season.....KWIM? { why certains regions and countries produce such fine and unrepeateable wines that cannot be reproduced in anoteh region even with the very same plants and recipes......... it is literally in the soil and in the air where the grapes are grown that so influence the wines...... know the stoy of dom perrignon? fascinating strain of yeast! all from the holy brothers!! wild yeast is available every where--in the air....... and of course, there is always the alcohol yeast from fermented beverages.......... which i am SURE one of the sources back in GaoP..... any bread made now adays can be made over a campfire--- you just have to know heat temps of your fire---and have a tempering / moderating pan { another pan upon which to set your bread baking pan over to even out the heat... you can add water to boil beneath is since water boils { same for salt water} consistently at specific temps { taking into account sea level and mountain level}....... happy cooking!
  12. Lilly- when i look closely at these waugh pictures and the lines of the garment are soooooooooo close to the tops of elizabethan period dresses--sans skirt being full length and a bit of modification of the narrowing of the chest fabric / different closure........ what say you? would it be worth trying to modify the top part of an elizabethan dress? tell me what you think..... and i will also take advice comments from anyone-- man or woman who sews and redrafts patterns..... lady constance { who has a peice of gorgeous maroon/ yellow/ green/ navy cut of cloth that would easily be a fab jacket for undress!!}
  13. and smaller clothes means easier and faster sewing!!! and use of the scraps you have left over frmo big pirate accesories and such---- does anyone know if they ever backed their linen stuff with wool so that it could be reversible?{ and more warm} and even thinking that smaller peices could be pieced/ whole cloth and backed with wool scraps for blankets.....for the youngens--- and--- i have noticed in some period art work---> pillows--- guessing they stuffed them with feathers--- i cannot conclude ANYTHING except that people back then used their creative powers to make what was necessary out of what they had! any who agree?
  14. Constance,

    thanks again for the company of the boyos and the food. NOw all we needed was yerself and some o the wee lasses. Miss you and hopeing to cross paths again soon.

  15. promise all the recipes my dearest beloved salty! ,) :) love , lady constance
  16. absolutely lovely work lily!! lovely! and i can say that IF you dye the fabric { after some mishap with liquor or whatever else, the brocade will dye beautifully.... i have had brocade dye 2 ways--- one completely dying all ofthe pattern , and the other way that the relief does not dye at all making the garment just stunning to behold!-- i once dyed a pear green brocade navy blue --WHOA !! absolutelyl stunning and regal!! so regal i dont know what to sew with it--so i threw it back on the bed and keep on using it as a coverlet!! this jacket seems vaguely reminiscent of janice ryans short jacket pattern.......{{though the back looks a skitch bit different... not that that matters at all} and can the sleeves also be made to have bells upon them also, as a variation? has anyone ever tried janice ryan patterns? and i have heard they run 2 sizes smaller than usual just looking at all that you all do inspires me so! lady constance
  17. hmmmmmmmm..... just wondering if this a family event, or perhaps , an adult weekend that i really ought to consider taking the old man to.......... i have " heard" that this IS the premiere event aside from key west.... is that so? tell me what makes it so..... are there plenty of " nice things" to acquire there? { callenish, i KNOW your stuff is top rated and fabulous ideas for gifts for my dear husband-- we shall talk about that} lady constance
  18. Mickey (and Kate)-- IF there was a masquerade ball previous to or during or after the sancta maria event, i would 1. get and a pay a sitter, 1.5 take teh time off work that weekend 2. drag silas 3. GET ME LASS ARSE there!!--- so , here is praying for the funding----!!!!! my men folk are still all abuzz over this event---i mean PSYCHO EXCITED ABOUT HAVING GONE AND HAD SUCH A GOOD TIME- the 16 yo is now crazy about pirating and wanting more clothes { meaning make silas new and better stuff and give the old to this son since they are about the same size} i must say that i am so greatly appreciative of the events and you FABULOUS FOLKS!! and all the work you do to "DO" these things.. and of course, i support ANY event that gives me the right to FEED people!!! love, lady constance
  19. Jack--- this is in wool , right? { you thought hand sewing glorious wool not fun?} it looks very nice! well done !!
  20. umm i added a few more things to the back of silas' van--- blueberry muffins { vast amounts} monster cookies { one large popcorn tin and one smaller cookie tin} brownie bites double batch my goal was to make sure you all gained about 3 pounds @ by the end of the weekend.... oh--- and feel free to FLOG with the cat o nine tails any child/ teen of ours that does not behave.....and tell them "your mother said i could do this to you!"--oh-- and this includes silas for any miscreant behaviour from him too!! ALL OF YOU HAVE A WONDERFUL SAFE AND DELIGHTFULLY GLORIOUS TIME!!
  21. this be silas' financial wizard.......... i think it is kind of sexy -- a man writing hello kitty checks! actually it is just sexy to watch a man write checks.... and just hand over his to ME! weekly!! LOL!! i thank thee mightily as i know have a link to order us some piratical checks-------- thank you Eris!!
  22. wow! you all are going to have a ton of fun! and i know my men folk are going to have a blast! { i am loaning you four of them... can yah promise to return them in same or better condition? LOL } i am actually starting to feel guilty for letting silas do all the sewing...... ah well-- i can assuage my guilt by sending tons of food......
  23. PATRICK............ cheating? did you say cheating??????????? WE ARE PIRATES............... HAVE THEE not read the bylaws of plunder ,cheating , stealing, borrowing permanently......../ section 814.739 rsmo .......... thou shall do as thy please concerning all matters ..........and carenot what fellow brethren pirates be doing and thinking about thee and thine own matters........ which leads me to ask WHY i care so darn much about the sleeve fitting right anyway.........
  24. ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh GOT IT !! GOT IT GOT IT GOT IT!!! and have to share!! TO MAKE arm holes and sleeves match exactly.... 1. take/run string around the sleeve hole on jacket top{ think measuring exact circumference... cut to exact length........... 2. take that string and """"find""""" the exact place on the sleeve you have made .. where will the peices fit together perfectly with no puckering and pulling ......... 3.chalk / mark with fabric pencil the exact location of string ... SEW!!!!!!!!! 3.5 dont pay attention to the amount of fabric that you cut off 4. be glad you always add extra to the bottom of your sleeves 5 pray the wearer has small biceps& triceps--if they do consider enlarging that area on the next jacket without changing the diamerter of the top of sleeve
  25. Patrick-- you do understand.........oh thank God! but my problem remains that i am trying to get this pattern worked out so that the sleeves align perfectly..... the boiled wool that this jacket will eventually be cut out of has MAJOR stretch ........in one direction alone....[ side to side stretch is amazing!!] that means that the top seams of the arms will potentially end up looking like they are from a roccoco gown with a huge poof....just do think that is the look i am going for in a navy short jacket.... so i am trying to foresee and alleveiate that problem all together........ can you send me a link to the sailors jacket you made as it is all together--- i saw your cutting and patterning... that is a big favor to ask... but ask i shall..... as soon as silas returns home from work i shall have him post teh pictures showing what i mean... and hopefull that picture will show what i mean with no words at all.... a pic is worth a thousand words.... lady constance
