  1. These are the first two in a new series that I will be doing. The prototype (top) of this piece was clayed up and has a hamon that is hard to get a picture of. The handle was made from the end of an old Oak ore. The 2nd(bottom) one I made for a friend that wanted an exotic wood instead of just oak. Bubinga is what we decided on. I left the wood unfinished because he wanted to finish it himself. The guards are 1/4" cold rolled that I slightly dished and filed around the outside and then polished. Both are razor sharp. About 14.5" OAL Comments welcome as always. This not historically pirate but I made it for a buddy of mine that will be carrying it as his camp knife for most of his pirate events. He does the games at the blackbeard festival is Hampton. Some of you must know him.
  2. God knows I will be there. I will be bringing loads of me crew along with me. I have missed the last few years due to the "Con", but not this year. My Shop is about 15-20 mins from fells point so if anyone needs anything let me know. I am game to make some cool stuff. I also have some guys with some cannons. If anyone wants to shoot them off let me know.
  3. Here is Smee's "twisted dagger". These sets will be available through Rob Hunter at http://www.preferredarms.com. He is a Sword rental guy that uses mostly our stuff.
  4. Here is the Pan sword. We were just asked to make a short sword. This is what we came up with.
  5. Captain Hook's Cup hilt. They asked for a cup without a knucklebow. They were affraid that the knuckle bow might get in the way of the wires for flying.
  6. The last few days we have been working on several Peter Pan sets for stage shows. We had to keep the cost down but we had room to have some fun. First is Captain Hook's hook.
  7. I got my copy today. I am excited. I only have read a couple poems so far, but I will be reading it cover to cover this weekend. If all goes well, look for a review of this book in the winter issue of Pirates Magazine.
  8. It will be good for main steam pirate fans. If you go into it expecting a Xena like show then I think you will be surprised. It is a bit campy, but I think it is far better then the Xena like shows. The pirates are a bit over costumed, but right now that is what most Americans think of when they think PIRATE. It may never be a show for this crowd. I do think that it will be on for quite some time. I doubt it will flop. So we can hope that it gets better. For now I will stick to my other island based show....LOST !
  9. I keep meaning to get back to work on your cutlass Bilge. I am gearing up for a few shows in November, after that I will get to it.
  10. I just finished a small tutorial on forging a huge billet of damascus. It has tons of photos and a video. Check it out if you are into the sort of thing. http://www.baltimoreknife.com/largeBillet.htm Cheers, 1stMate
  11. So does this mean the next Mac commercial will feature pirates ?
  12. I am working on a few new period eating sets for this show. I sell through Age of Chivalry out there. If you get a chance stop in and ask for the new wolf eating sets. Knife and 2 prong fork.
  13. Nice leatherwork. Looks great. Nice and aged.
  14. We will have some insider info on POTC 4 and some of the other new movies and TV shows. We have a great side of the magazine out in LA now and I am excited to get more and more inside looks at what is going on in main stream pirating.
  15. At a gas and steam museum? Awesome. I guess there will be some steampunk pirates out there. I will have to call my west coast sword dealer and see if he plans on being there. I am sure the Pirates Magazine "Press Gang" will be there. I will comfrim.
  16. I heard you got to meet the famous "Klaus" last weekend miss Mermaid. The turn out at the show was insane. Buisness was good for everyone.
  17. "Well I do adore the boy and his amazing work! I've asked him about another custom hilt but I know he's not about the sword work at the moment.... He's just so darn GOOD at what he does! " I agree. We were talking about getting him back into swords. Seems he has a lot of intrest in doing some sort hilt work agian but only rapiers. I told him that is fine becuase I love making rapier blades...HEHE.
  18. As luck would have it, I ran into Lars this weekend at Faerie Con in Philly. We talked for quite some time about your swords. Seems you are one of his favorite customers.
  19. wow. Two of my fav things. Transformers ( I own cybertronarmy.com) and Steam punk. Love it!
  20. Rumba you silly pirate you. Nobody decided that. The pictures I took were just low rez. We used them on the website for awhile. I am sure we will sneak them into the mag soon. With all the drama that was Pyrate Con, we kept it low key and didn't print much about it in the mag.
