Captain Bo ~ Would you like a small string of a few "brass" buttons to add to the chest? I'd be happy to contribute ~

Very nice find, Mission! Yes, if I recall correctly from our initial research, I believe the square bottles came into use after GAoP ~

Good Afternoon, MadL ~ I am sorry to hear of your troubles with these unnamed vendors. Please let me know if there is any way I can be of service. I recommend you to my merchant threads (as listed below), if you have any questions as to the character of my business dealings. Shoes & Boots! Linen Shirts Buttons! Ah, yes ~ To Harry!

It is with great Regret that I must post the Following News ~ That person which calls himself my Sales Representative, had not taken the occaision to alert myself to their Price Increase, as relates to their Leather Boots. The Distributing Company has Increased the price of the Leather Boots a full Twenty Dollars, at which I am Amazed and Dismayed. As such, I must change my price for Leather Bucket Boots to reflect the increase to $85, plus S&H. Further, I have found the Buckle Shoes are now expected to arrive April 17 ~ which is fully in keeping with their aforementioned 'relaxed' attitude in estimating delivery dates. I do most heartily apologize for any inconvenience this may cause anyone. As ever, I remain ~ Your Humble Servant, Mary Diamond

OMG! OK, that almost surpasses Euro-Trip ~ Though Scotty Doesn't Know is more fun to sing to when you are driving 7 hours to Torino from southern Italy with your friends.

I remember seeing a reproduction printing press many years ago, and the guy had used the screw shaft and threaded block to match from an old piano stool. >>>> Cascabel Now that is a Fantastic idea! Hmmm, Brig ~ Lilly does bring up an interesting question. If you are going through all this trouble, will you be using standard letter size paper? Or will you take the extra step to utilize laid paper, octavo (8vo)size (8-10" tall, approx. 9" wide), to further reinforce the impression? Laid paper is commonly available, and can be cut down in bulk at most print service facilities, for a nominal fee. But, yes, as Amanjira points out ~ getting a full set of type may well be the hang-up for this entire project.

Ah, so good to hear from you, Oderlesseye! And thank you for your patronage. I spoke with my distributor last week, who indicated the Men's Buckle Shoes are to be back in stock March 27. Note that my distributor is extremely relaxed when it comes to estimating delivery dates! I will update this thread as soon as I hear more. As ever, I remain ~ Your Humble Servant, Mary Diamond

Indeed, Brig is a treasure! The one difficulty I see with building a press is the screw ~ which I believe is wood, with a less frequent thread per inch count than what I believe may be available in todays tap and die sets. Nonetheless, here is a link which illustrates how to make a wooden vise utilizing the same screw concept. http://www.jeffgreefwoodworking.com/pnc/Sh...vice/index.html This may work tolerably well if the press will be a smaller scale portable unit.

Thank you, Cheeky! It was nice to see a selection of everyone's posted photos included in the slideshow.

Actually, the pirates in this movie would fit in extremely well with the Steampunk thread ~ Boilerplate, The Victorian Robot I personally loved it ~ lots of fun brain and eye candy. DeNiro was a hoot ~ maybe not the best choice for a cross-dressing pirate captain/mentor, but certainly fun! Sometimes it is nice not seeing someone you would expect...

Wonderful photos! It seems Jack and the Twins must be good luck, as I am well, if still overtired. Get better soon, everyone!

Mmmmm, black powder... I love the detail on this video ~ the swirls of ignited powder granules, like a little dance, and the glorious bloom of flame. Thank you, Captain Jim!

Embroidery was to show off the skill of a lady of means, who would have had the time to invest in such elaborate items. A more common lady would have been hard pressed to find the time for such detail, but would still have owned linen pockets, stomacher and apron. Items that would work interchangeably for a lad and a lady ~ well, that gets a bit more difficult. Off the top of my head, I think of eating utensils, plate and mug. A folding knife. Linen handkerchief. Possibly writing items and a pocket watch, though that really depends on the status of the characters you would play. Don't forget ~ ladies can be involved in fights As Ladies! Bess and I fight each other ~ she with her giant spoon, me with my smallsword. Funny, she always wins! Maybe it is because I can't cook... and don't recognize the thing coming at my head. The more ladies that participate as ladies, the easier this becomes.

I will get to work on an information list for the Crewe of the Archangel, and send it along to you as soon as it is all verified.
