Mega Bloks is obviously on good footing still with Disney, they just released Narnia Mega Bloks sets.

Well it's a TRU exclusive and they have it at TRU's little corner of Amazon.com.

I'm sure if anyone's local TRU has the display of the 2 ships and the island under plastic they'd see the sign I saw. Find the little carboard card of the Treasure Island set and it clearly has the POTC2 logo on it. I had an employee open the case so I could get a good look at it and it is definately an official picture, not a sticker or a photoshopped prank.

Well the TRU exclusive is not listed on MB's site... And TRU's site (Amazon) only has the packaging with the standard Pyrates logo. Argh.

Tell me I'm not crazy or that someone is pulling a trick on me. I was at TRU last night, admiring the Mega Bloks Pyrates sets. (BTW, Sam's Clubs has the 2 ships and one of the skulls for a special price) Looking at the display of the ships set up under the plastic bubble... I noticed something strange. There next to the playsets, they had little cards that had the item number and a picture of the package for each toy shown. TRU's exclusive clear treasure chest with island playset had an interesting note. Instead of saying "Pyrates" it instead read "Pirates of the Carribean: Dead Man's Chest" in the official font and scroll style. So... did some smartass put a sticker on it to freak me out? Has MegaBloks signed a deal with Disney for the movie rights? (I do know MB does handle some Disney licenses) Does this mean soon I'll get a little Jack Sparrow to lead my Sea Marauders instead of the crappy named guys? Or was there a deal and it fell through?

I was actually going to ask him to punch Depp for me... Seriously though. When I did extra on The Punisher, we were told that if we talked the the stars without them talking to us first, we would be kicked off set and banned.

I'm willing to trade away all my Brits, Spanish pig-dogs, and French Bastards for more Pirates or Americans. I'll find my lists... this will take a long, long time...

If I recall, they found all the treasure... but they got scattered and/or stolen by Bloth again. Boomerang does show it once in a blue moon.

PoDW isn't anime. It's animation. Similar to He-Man, GI Joe, Transformers, etc... because it was merely a 30 minute commercial for their toys. Late 80s, early 90s is when it hit the airwaves... and unlike the above mentioned other cartoons, it actually was skillfully done. The toys were awesome too. No Manga exists, however I think Marvel or some similar company published a short lived comic. The toys were interesting, they were pretty unique considering they were made by Habro/Kenner the masters of re-using parts. The good ship "Wraith" was reused in the mid-90s for the Mortal Kombat toy line.

"One Piece"? Crap. Utter anime crap. Stupid plot. Stupid animation. Lame Jokes. Pirate in theme only. Pirates running around with katanas? Lame. Pirates that stretch? Really lame. They stole the plot from Pirates of Dark Water.

Quit your spamming boy. Pirate Wars isn't new. I was playing it last year. It sucks.

I seem to remember seeing some of the hard plastic figures at educational shops. They're not very good sculpts in my opinion.

My crew is based out of Gainesville and Jax. I doubt any of us would be able to make auditions, much less rehersals a good 2 to 4 hours drive away. We're coming up with a stage act. What's the deadline on those?

Yeah, if you had looked at older messages you would have seen us discussing Pirates of the Spanish Main and Crimson Coast. I'm awaiting Barbary Coast myself. I don't know. I've bought maybe 10 packs of Revolution and I have yet to be wowed. As someone who direhard collects only Pirate cards, I find myself collecting America just because I like Schooners. I've also been unable to get one link in this set either. I do and don't like the history they've added. I liked the made up characters.

Historical - re: footwear. Well, I would say barefoot but with tarred soles is a perfectly historical option. If not a wee bit sticky. Historical - re: bodices, cleavage, et al. Considering historically women were often not allowed at sea. Famous personalities like Bonnie and all aside. I would say that of 90% of the female outfits I've seen at this forum, at faires, and at pyrate events... those women dressing as such would be treated as whores. Note that I did not use "wench", the cutesy ren word. I call No Quarter when calling such things such. I stand by my above statement when I say such women would be whores. Pirates would keep them as such or else repeatedly rape them. There are the "lady" type of women who would be captured on a prize. She would be raped and then killed or else sold into slavery. If her family were rich enough she would be ransomed. In the mean time she would be repeatedly raped. Sorry if it offends any of you. Just offering my historical viewpoint. I'm not saying women pirates and wenches and the like aren't fun at faires and such. Just that showing cleavage around a bunch of murders and whatnot isn't the wisest choice of action.

Megablocks are so much more reasonable than Legos. Better in some regards too. Fer instance the 2 MB Pyrate ships run 40-60 each. Compare that to Lego where it would be $100 or more. Then again, ye could have been looking at the cheapy toy company that is making building block ships, they have both a pirate and a skeleton pirate ship. But they're like $20-$25 each. Very good deal. Then of course there's Playmobil. Their items run about $40-$100 depending.

Shame that my local TRU is the worst in the world. Always months behind the other TRUs and the employees have the combined IQ of a sea cucumber. Must get more pyrates...

Will the faire be looking for any performers for this year?

While I was entertained by Jack Sparrow and the other pirates from PotC, I can not forgive them... My favorite movie pirate is Morgan from Cutthroat Island followed closely by the Dread Pirate Roberts. Favorite future pirates are Robert Urich from Ice Pirates and... of course, Han Solo. Favorite fictional pirate would have to be Captain Jeremiah Berek from AEG's 7th Sea rpg.

If I recall correctly, you're required to have Broadband to play it. It won't play on Dial-up or anything else.

Aye... I was the tall good lookin' feller on the back of that white boat, with the tricorn. Me friend had on a deep purple vest and a hat with purple banding. I mainly just stood there and looked rugged. Enjoyed the trip around the bay immensly. I am feeling much better, but it took me plenty of liquids and soft foods on Sunday. Next year will be much better I hope. Fer me that is.

I was looking fer folk... but this weekend was not good fer me. I enjoyed the festivities, I love it. Not knocking that. First I got cold feet about the Tropical Storm (I still have PTSD from last year) so I changed my motel reservations from Friday and Saturday nights to just Friday night. Rain killed my arrival time Friday night, as well as misreading the directions to get there, got there after the motel office closed. Made contact with the organizer, and went home after one drink to rest up for the next day. Storm made it impossible for me to fall asleep until 5am. Woke up late at 10:30, missing the 9am call time so I could talk with folk. Made it to the event after 11am. Got a space on the small white ship. Ate after the sea battle. Got violently ill. Had to head home through pouring rain, while sick, about 2pm. Before the parade and everything. So I was looking fer folk from the board, but I was too busy making a deposit most of the event...
