Here's a picture of the original so you can see what it's supposed to look like. "This jacket is in saffron yellow woven silk patterned with green, white, orange, navy blue, and pale blue flowers and leaves. It would have been worn over a stomacher. The bodice is lined with white taffeta. The fabric dates from c.1711-15 and the style resembles some of the jackets in paintings by Watteau". "The white gauze trimmings appear to to have been added to renovate the jacket, probably in c.1770-80, and the bottom parts of the sleeves, which are detachable, may have been put in at the same time".

Thank you Aerynfyre & Lady Constance. Hopefully dying won't be an issue. I really need this jacket to stay this color :) I do have the ryan pattern "18th Century Jackets" and it was very useful in helping me make this pattern. Especially the sleeves. This jacket is similar to the ryan patterns but unfortunately they are all for 1750 and later.

awww. That's just way too cute.

Here's an idea Jack. Take little pieces of paper with all the tents, powder, pits, hide and anything else that goes in our area. Toss them up in the air and where ever they land that's where they go.

Isn't the storage tent the powder tent?

I suppose so. But that's why you love us Just don't get too close, it might rub off on you too.

I don't envy you right now Jack It's a catch 22. I'm thinking of the bushes as an extra barrier from the public. No matter where it goes, there will be some risk.

Way to go Phoebe.

Thanks Cheeky. Captain, I'm not getting near anyone doing anything while wearing this.

PW WW instead of WW WP Sorry to drive you crazy Jack but the magazine really needs to be blocked off from foot traffic.

I just thought of another consideration. Our cooking area :) According to their Safety Rules "Powder Magazine Requirements": "Must be kept at least 5 yards from the nearest public. No smoking, fires, open flames or other ignition sources are to be allowed within 5 yards of the powder box when it is open".

Thanks Michael. This fabric I got as a remnant from http://www.renaissancefabrics.net/index.php. It was only 2 1/2 yards and I was terrified to make a mistake because that's all I could get. It didn't help that my silly cat chewed up the first cutting of the fabric I used for my stays. They do have a gold damask http://www.renaissancefabrics.net/cgi-bin/...c&fabric=55

Will do Captain. I agree, the dress dummy does it no justice. It certainly looks much better over stays. Thank you Lady Brower. It is the same fabric as my stays. :)

Looking good Jack. Would it be possible to exchange the magazine for one of the wedges? This way the wedges can also provide shade for it? WWW P to PWW W

Here's wishing you the happiest of Birthday's. Looking forward to seeing you again at Blackbeards.

I came across a ladies short jacket in Janet Arnold's Pattern of Fashion 1 It's patterned after Snowshill Manor c.1720-1740 I might be adding trim and I still have to hem the skirt but it's almost done. The jacket is cream silk brocade with the bodice and sleeves lined with linen. The skirt is unlined.

Jack, great job and thanks for the planning. The only thing I might change is the placement of the wedge tent. Perhaps someplace not so close to street traffic.
