  1. Ooooh, everyone's images are spectacular. But don't feel bad, Pete. I've not gotten mine up yet either. They turned out well... epesially that one of you singing into the butt of your pistol! Course kickin' m'self ... should have taken an image of us at Rockford... Pirates and patriots!
  2. Let's just say I was VERY happy to see ya! A breath of fresh, cool air to the extreme heat! :) Was great to see ya! Aye! Just wish that it was under better temps & a little bit more of the tavern with drinking, gambling, & more comradery. Oh, well. Despite the storm on Sat night, it was quite enjoyable. Had SO much fun! The battles on sunday were spectacular! MerryD has some pictures which she'll have ready soon enough. I haven't taken the chance at all during the weekend to take pictures.... too damn busy being a soldier & not passing out from the heat! Christ almighty it was hot! Sunday was indeed a spectacular one! Had a skermish in the town! THAT was just WAY AWESOME! I'm hoping someone got a good few images of that one. Especially marching into the town to push back the Continentals... OH! Yes! We were Tarleton's on Sunday for both the Skermish & Battle instead of Lee's! What a treat that was for me! Everybody said I got my wish. :: a gigantic, huge, massive grin upon my face::: The horse was just fabulous to have there.. that helped to turn heads into our direction, & he MAY join the Legion (YAY!). We got to him first before anyone else. We are SO good. Hey, with us dragoons... EVERYTHING needs to steer clear of US! :) Official Pirate Invasion, eh? I suppose it would be! AYE! Of Pirates & Patriots! What better combination! Baggy butts or not... you gents look spectacular in 18th c attire! SERIOUS eye candy!! :) Hope the Bday went well. Hope she adored her items & trinkets.
  3. AYE!! extra rum for all !!!! :) What a success & blast to have that many show up! That's a hefty amount! Worth it's weight it's weight in gold & I believe we very much earned out keep at that event! HUZZAH to the Fool's Gold! Looking forward to your pictures, Pete! :) If you cant' come, that's cool (granted it will be VERY hot the weekend)... but if you can, then will see ya there. Otherwise.. I will take PLENTY of pictures... again. A pity you were not able to see the pictures I had of Vincennes. I had them back at the hotel. As well as your box of trinkets. So, I have that here for you until next time. Likewise with you, BilgeMonkey! I have your trinkets here as well & will give them to ya next time we all invade.
  4. Oh WHAT A BLAST!!! Aye... t'was a fabulous exhibit. I was drooling over one of the pistols that was an original... silver & semi-precious stones... Ooooooo... MY kind of pirate pistol! :) It was FANTASTIC to meet you all! I, too, was exhausted! MerryD can testify to thay! Ahhhh! Pete! Thank you most kindly! I'll have to keep m' eyes open for them & inform my Commander (Art) this weekend. Hoping you are coming... please come.. begging you to swing by & say "hi"... Promise.. I won't shoot ya. Eager to use the flint with my carbine that I am buying from Art. OH! Hey, all! Just think... another major one can be with the HMS Bounty when she "SAILS" up the Mississippi! I'm doing what I can to be a volunteer crew member aboard her! She's a fine ship.. & you will see her in PotC 2 & 3... hopefully. Maybe we can do a Pirate gig then as well. Granted we missed the Pirate Fest at the beginning of June. I had NO clue about it. A pity.
  5. Hmmmm... in our.. Oh, I call it more my attire than garb. I could literially live in it. Well... these be a bit old... I shall have new ones coming soon, though. On the HMS Bounty... really. Except when I had the original picture taken, I was not in my pirate outfit.. but I have walked upon the decks of the Bounty. She quickly became my fav ship! Myself as the Lady. Yes, I can be a Lady... IF I want to. & now the sultry Wicked Lady! :: Evil ::
  6. Will see ya there, Pete! Lookin' forward to terrorizin' the locals with ya! I'll be one of the Judges for the pirate costume contest... so... I have some interesting ideas on how to take a good look over of the fresh blood.
  7. They tried that at Shelbyville a couple years back... They couldn't get Jan & I off our. .. ::Clears throat:: horse. It was PVC piping to mark the swimming area of the Lake... was VERY funny watching several guys to their damnedest to get us... unhorsed! I'm sure Randy & the others will enjoy having you there. I'm curious to see what your uniform looks like. We may be on opposite sides of the field at Rockford... depends on it we go as Tarleton's Legion that weekend. More than likely we will. at least you have your uniform already. I haven't my uniform totally. Which... hopefully this years tax return will NOT go towards the Jeep but for my uniform. Sat nights are ALWAYS fun!
  8. Hey all! I JUST got this hot off the email press.. from Deb who is another coordinator of this event: Hello, I thought I had sent a reply last week, but in double checking did not see that I did--sorry it has been a bit hectic around here lately!!! It would be great if you are willing to judge. What we are doing is asking everyone in costume to register when they arrive and they will receive a tag of some kind so judges know who is who. The judges also will have tags designating them as judges. Then throughout the day (12 to 4) judges can observe these "pirates" Prizes to be awarded to the best Adults (1st, 2nd, 3rd) and Children (1st, 2nd , and 3rd). Judges will get together at the end of day and give their opinions. Thanks so much for your offer! Deb JUDGING & LOOKING FOR NEW RECRUITS! I LOVE IT! What could be better- DON'T ANSWER THAT! No we can't have the RUM..... not yet. Later on, gents an' ladies...
  9. Look forward to seein' ya! Nothing's worse to deal with than a Lady who is a pirate & a Dragoon! If ever you need attire or anything... the units can accomidate. With guests, each unit tries to have extra stuff just for occassions like this. Art I know would LOVE to have you join the Dragoons.. even if only for an hour. Bloody hell I love it! Be a dreaded pirate on one weekend, then the following weekend a dreaded Dragoon! Like we enjoy saying: "The Few, The Proud, The DRAGOONS!"
  10. Well.. hey! John Paul Jones was the Patriotic Pirate.. so.. bloody darn close enough! :) Well if ya ever change your mind & want to guest.. just let me know.. I have info.. & Dale C. says that units would be more then happy to have ya.
  11. You know how TEMPTED I am to join ya? I'm sure I can tell a few good stories about Lee's Legion & ... Robert E Lee's Daddy's unit. :) Oh, Aye! It's right amazing! Alas, I'd say we could have a couple Brit Marines... but the majority of the Brits will be out to Williamsburg the following weekend & will be getting around for that. But Aye... it's amazing who shows up. :) Check out the Spring Invasion thread... If any are interested to join us again & join me for another wild weekend.. can do! Morgan! I'm getting in touch with the Marines to se about guesting with them. I'm sure they would LOVE to have ya!
  12. MORGAN! The Marines would LOVE to have ya. :) The event is at Rockford, IL... I can let Rob ( think that's his name)... know that you would like to join the lot! Fabulous lot of gents they are. NWTA schedule I hope to arrive there Fri night sometime about the same time the majority of everyone arrives. I will be there both days... camping. Always a thrill. Of your gear, what ya got? I'm curious! If you have EVERYTHING... I AM JEALOUS! I still have yet to get my whole Dragoon uniform finished!
  13. AHHHHHH! Capn Will! I am VERY jealous of ya! & likewise to those of ya who were at the 225th Invasion of Charlestowne back in May. I read a recent report on the 225th event in the newsletter Southern Campaigns of the American Revolution... & was kicking myself wishing I was there! Such FABULOUS stories that were told! & the camps at different locations just had to have been awesome! Was anyone in the Brit camp when the Continentals made a raid? I have yet to torture Colonel Callaham for not totally being dressed & ready for battle... The artillery I'm sure had to have been MOST IMPRESSIVE! It sounded like it ... no pun intended The Ball.... the Navy... the 2 conflicting sides... what a bummer I missed it. I intend NOT to miss the 225th of Camden, Cowpens... as well as Yorktown. Someone tell me your stories on the 225th Seige!
  14. Oshkosh IS on. PETE! I'll buy ya a drink if ya come! I'll be at Rockford, IL the last weekend of June (24th & 25th). More than likely we will be portraying Tarleton's British Legion (my area of knowledge)... since the majority of the Brits will be out east for the Redcoat Occupation of Williamsburg (Which is a HELL of a sight to see!) You are MORE THEN WELCOME to join us! Course... not all that keene to be a dragoon.. you can be in the Marines or the Navy or Infantry ... artillery... on either side. :) If I don't see ya at Oshkosh, I hope to see ya at Rockford. BTW.. I WILL bring pictures of Vincennes with me. Which was a fabulous event & yes.. I have some good stories about that one.
  15. Tis a serious pity! Alas.. I'm not able to go! Having JUST found out about it. Bad timing, mates.
  16. Thus far the 18th for sure. Though... the 19th is up to you nothing major for the 19th. So .. if you are not around on the 19th.. that's fine. Activities will be on the 18th. Much is planned. Here is what Mr Breza stated: here is what is being planned for the June 18th date. The "Deb D" also in the email send to is the museum staff person who is organizing and managing the opening day events. If you have special questions and the like you might want to email her or call her at 920-424-4733. By the way I took a look at my big wall tent. It is about 8 foot wide, 7 to 8 foot tall at the ridge pole, side walls at about 32" tall and about 10' long. Will set it up on the museum grounds for the day of the 18th for the pirate crew use. Museum opens at 10:00 that day, but the main push for the events is scheduled for 12:00 to 4:00. We will have visitors starting at 10:00 so be ready!!!! Pirate Mayhem Day Oshkosh Public Museum June 18th, 2005 12:00 to 4:00 Pirate Activities to Include: 1. Enter a pirate contest---Dress in your best pirate outfit when you visit the museum this day. All contestants must register when they enter the museum. Pirate judges will observe contestants and judge their outfit as well as how they act like a pirate. First, second and third place prizes to be awarded in an Adult and Child category (call the museum for more details). 2. Go Treasure Hunting. 3. Create a Captain's Hat. 4. Build your own pirate ship. 5. Race a pirate ship. 6. Make a Swashbuckler puppet. 7. Try your luck at a "Talk Like A Pirate" guessing game. Other fun things to do: Listen to Bounding Main: three performances, each 1/2 hour in length at 1:15, 2:15 and 3:15 Experience Pirate re-enactors (and do not forget to bring your camera) Plus....Do not miss The Pirates Cove-where you can partake of Pirate fare such as ship's bread and grog. Does this sound fabulous or what?!?
  17. Aye... likewise. Ok.. will look into that hotel. All in all... I'm sure we will think of something! :)
  18. VERY carefully, Will! It's doable. We've done the same thing whilst raining or on wet ground at other re-enactments. The wool is a pain no matter if it's dry or hot.. hot is worse than wet in my opinion. But... what's worse is when I finish with my doeskin breeches since I am portraying a Dragoon... when that gets wet, that will be hell! I heard that it was fabulous. A good report from a few from the NWTA that went. Said the Continental Line was rather authentic & incredible. Though... being a participant in this... the free part confuses me. Course... I know that some places may have charged cause it was on a National Park grounds. They do the same at some places here like Vincennes.. it's to help maintain the Historical site. Being on the battlefield is fabulous! I LOVE it! Can't wait for Vincennes Memorial Weekend... battlefield fun! I am SOOOOO looking forward to it. :) Got pictures? We always LOVE them! The Revolutionary War Re-enactors chat list on Yahoogroups.... we love reports & pictures. So... are ya into Revolutionary War much, Cptn Will? I'm making plans to go to Camden in August for the 225th of the Battle of Camden. Looking forward to that. MORGAN... whereabouts are ya? Unless you live north of Quebec... guaranteed there is an American Rev War event in the vicinity.
  19. :: Shrugs:: I won't exactly treat the June Exhibit as a major Invasion, but it can be I guess. The Spring Invasion... :: Shrugs:: Aye.. it's difficult to coordinate. I know this year & into next year will be rather busy. LOTS of traveling. How I will do it, I haven't a clue! Focusing more on the Rev War events this year. But... Piracy is still not out for me.. that is still a part of 18th c & I adore this era. So... eventually... I'm sure we can coordinate a time that will work. I'm still trying to figure out which events in the NWTA I will be attending. Wish I would attend them all.
  20. Well.. something historical that's for sure. Maybe for the ball I will wear my gold gown. I'm planning on attending that as well. Hopefully I won't be too broke from just getting back from Cowpens SC or have classes that interfer - yep.. going back to school. I'll most definitely be there for 18th c.. mostly Rev War. Hawks... I had the honor & pleasure of meeting Clisto last year at Bristol. Spoke with him a couple times online, one of those times was to inform him about the Re-enactors Fest. Figured he would love to go to something like this & to spread the word on this fabulous fest. I think it will be fabulous!
  21. Hawks.. would enoy havin' ya with the lot of us. Hope to see ya there, too, Pete! Not sure when I will be in the Chicagoland area for a re-enactment in the next couple months. MAYBE Rockford.. we shall see. Otherwise, I will be at a couple others like Vincennes, Indiana this Memorial Weekend. Oh... who ever brings some artifacts or whatever.. you may. I suppose... I may bring my tent. Merry D mentioned that Mr Breza would like something like that. But.. still working on that. If we don't get the trial.. that's fine. We can help out with the exhibits.. as well as just saunter through ... steal gold, gawk & drool... as well as hand out the gold, I have 4 bags with 144 coins in each. So... should be plenty. Yes, Pete... simply being there IS the best offer. :)
  22. So far.. there will be 4 or 5 of us there. Alas... I wish there were more. But... either I got no answer or other pirates are busy. Nothing new... just that the artifacts should be arriving any day & they will be setting up soon for the exhibit. As to where I will be staying? Haven't a clue yet. I haven't been given the chance to take a look around. Not kidding. I'm feeling like a slave to everyone else around me. When I get that chance by some miracle of God to check with hotels & make reservations... I'll let ya know. I have been working on trinkets for those attending to make it fun. Plus... I have 4 bags of pirate coins - 144 coins in each bag.. that can be handed out to those who come to the exhibit. The exhibit I will talk further to Mr Breza about... if by some miracle of God I can be left alone so I can get MY work done... cause I want to know what exhibits that are interactive where if you all would like... to help the patrons to experience them a little more. Like the trying on the pirate attire.. cannon loading... the smells of a ship... etc. Also.... I haven't done any research & was hoping to attempt to pull off a trial. So... if anyone has ideas or a script already for one... it would be GREATLY appreciated! Well.. alas.. I must dash. I've been on too long already. TTYL...
  23. Barbosa.... Check out Panther Primitives for a fine & more authentic tent. They've a variety. Even the fabulous Marquis tents or a fly. You can also get a fly from Townsend. Or even Smoke & Fire. Those 2 will be down at Vincennes at the end of this month, Memorial Weekend. God help me with the money. I'll want to buy everything! The range of pricing for these tents are $300 to $400 depending upon which one you get. They are made with the sunforger canvas which is top grade & I HIGHLY recommend.
  24. Aye. Crimson Coast has the availability issue. I STILL haven't gotten ahold of Crimson Angel. I have 2 of the Hag of Tortuga, 3 of El Phanstama, 3 of Havana Black, etc... But NO Crimson Angel. I generally just buy pack by pack when I can spare a little money. I haven't lately since I am working on my re-enacting items (clothing, personal items, etc.) I've a fabulous fleet of pirates, though! I can't argue with that! Though... their abilities don't do much for those others under the British, Spanish or French. Especially Carbon Charlie who is Brit. If you have him on a Brit ship, however much gold you gather, is how many cannons you can allow on a single ship! Umm... it's a BIT unfair to other ships. I haven't stood a chance! Which is sad! Even my Ghost Ships didn't stand a chance, which I find a bit twisted that how the bloody hell can you destroy & sink a ghost ship? Not a Black Pearl type ghost ship.. but an ACTUAL ghost ship that can pass through ships, islands, etc. The Deliverence & the Amity are those ghost ships. Anyway.... I got another Roanoke in a pack... well, part of a Roanoke. I got the 1/3 & 3/3 But... I didn't get the 2/3 in the pack! I am SOOOO mad now! Looking forward to Revolution nonetheless.
  25. Had a dream about the Bounty last night... didn't want to wake up! :) Summer sailing on the east coast? So she's most definitely not coming along the Ol' Miss this summer? I'm having Bounty withdraws!
