Baggy butt an' all! :) You gents look SOOO dashing $ sexy in those outfits. It makes attending these events SOO worth while. I tell ya though... the more authentic looking, the better. Even the baggy sloops are splendid. When at the Rev War events.... I am one HAPPY woman the whole weekend. I do not mind cooking, running to get firewood, etc. I'll be happy to wear my stays... with the gents all around wearing breeches. Though... whatever outfit I am wearing... I do my best to make sure it's got a high content if not 100% content of natural fibers... like cotton for example. granted most of my items are on average 80% authentic... but they are totally breathable to the point I'm not panting & sweating a river. Blame that on early training of attire & such... as I started out as a re-enactor & the Rev War community is pretty stiff on the authentic look. & I do... I keep my eyes open for items that look of the period... having seen some items from the Smithsonian to places out east at battlefields.. Williamsburg.. even to a travel exhibit that stopped here in Eastern Iowa a couple years ago.. & checking out books, looking online... It's tough... but... lately... it's doable! I've been flipping out with the near authentic items one can get away with.. like some chests from Hobby Lobby or Michaels... even Hancock fabrics... I spotted a couple items at Super Target that looked like it could pass for 18th items! I have more fun at re-enactments. Honestly & truly. Tomahawk throws... being on the battlefield.. cooking...sewing... even games.. oh, boy do we have fun in the evenings with a traveling tavern to sing songs at & drink & exchange stories! Safety is #1.. but we are adults & we mix pleasure with history quite well. Give me a re-enactment any day. Besides.. majority of the time.. it's also free food! Anyone around the Midwest want to give it a shot with the NWTa... more than welcome to! First even is in May. You can got LIV (Loyalist Irish Volunteers) which gives you a chance to chck out - for no more than 2 events - as many unis as possible to figure out which one works for you. Hehehe, though I won't lie.. would love to have ya join my unit... my commander would LOVE to have more bodies in uniform.

Captain Morgan parties responsible.
LadyBarbossa replied to Black Hearted Pearl's topic in Pyrate Pop
Oh, Lord. Ya know... if Morgan was real... think they would REALLY do that? I think it would be funny to have the pirates get involved to "hunt down" the kidnappers! :) -
:: shakes head:: Nope... Though I hear ya, mate! Tis frustrating... cause I am more than eager to get my hands upon the mini-Barbossa! A good piratess friend of mine got me the Aztec gold that is now available from Master Replicas. It's fabulous! I HIGHLY recommend it! & More than worth the $15!!! But.. Aye.. eager to get a hold of the merchandise!

Oh, Aye, Sjöröveren!! That's what I am hoping. I know that there are crews around the Lakes... made an attempt to get ahold of them. Alas, those listed in No Quarter Given.... I got bouncing from cause the emails no longer existed. But.. I do hope that some are able to come. A couple I got through to are unable to come due to previous bookings. & I am waiting to hear back from a couple more. Spoke to Barbosa & he'd think a trial or 2 would be fun! I agree! I was thinkin' the same thing... though, I thought about the trial of Anne Bonney & Mary Read as well as Kidd & another pirate. Though a trial with Jack & Barbossa would be hilarious as well. Would like to get as many historical, fictional & created characters there. Good time for a summer Invasion. Plus.. we can always return as well. Give them as much publicity as possible. Mr. Breza is thrilled to have some pirate assistance. Royaliste... :: Shrugs:: I have no idea. To me.. that's not my business. Though, I have been told they are working on all those details. But if they have some awesome artifacts like a traveling exhibit with Am Rev War items that came to the Hoover Museum a couple years ago.. than it will beyond wickedly awesome! Here is another email Mr. Breza sent to me: Dear Lady Barbossa: I had been a reenactor of the French and Indian War time period for many years prior to starting to work for museums. I know from first hand experience what a joy it can be to be at a place where a great crowd of people are at who enjoy and appreciate the hard (fun) work that a reenactor does. I also have been, more often than not, on the bad end of things were an organizations is hosting a festival or event and they expect reenactors to show up, do a performance and then just leave...quite forgotten and with nothing to show for their time put in, not even a thank you. I do not plan to abuse the people who volunteer at the Oshkosh Public Museum. For Pirates who come to the museum for a scheduled event, such as the Saturday June 18th exhibit opening, we would like to offer a small amount to cover gasoline. In the past we have set out the finger food snacks, water and soda... as long as you do not stand in front of the public holding a can of Pepsi. Nothing says "swashbuckler" more than a can of Mountain Dew in one hand and a Mars bar in the other. The other fine temptation that I can dangle out there is maybe, maybe, maybe, maybe--- if we can fund it---a full color image on a t-shirt. Look at the cover of "On Stranger Tides" book to see the image I am talking about. In the past I have given out coffee mugs from the museum to each person as well as a that-day-only museum gift shop discount. This is still all quite loose as we are not sure of all the funding we need just to get the exhibit artifacts here and the props built. But that is the museum's problem and we are hard at work on that. So I would like to hear from you as to how many people would like to be here for an event? What would they like to do while here, meaning what can they do for the public that will be staring at them? Where are they coming from? Suggestions? Some basic info about what we cannot do: 1. No firing of guns, cannons, fireworks... as we are with in city limits and it takes a great deal of paperwork to allow for this. 2. No fire pits as we have to watch over the visitors here who do not know that a fire can burn you. Like wise we have heavy traffic here in the summer months and a hole in the lawn, even filled causes concern for us. 3. Drinking of anything alcoholic on our property is not allowed- inside or outside. This is due to insurance coverage. We get asked this about once every year as someone wants to host a party at the museum and we go around with this issue. Sorry, it just does not pay for the museum to pay out more for all the permits, watchful staff and insurance to warrant this. I look forward to hearing from you about all of this and the start of working towards a fun event(s). The file sent along with this message is a city bus sign that we run in Oshkosh. Sincerely, Michael Breza Assistant Director Oshkosh Public Museum 1331 Algoma Blvd Oshkosh WI 54901 phone 920-424-4750 email brezam@publicmuseum.oshkosh.net I know it's Mid-Feb ... & the exhibit is in June.. but.. trying to take tally & plan some things so he's not all that suprprised. Ideas anyone? Anyone willing to come as a Historical character? Fictional? I'm hoping to get Toby to Join us as Jack Sparrow... would like to see a Long John Silver there as well... perhaps some historical figures like Blackbeard, Stede Bonnet, Bart Roberts, Morgan (hehe, that be your queue Morgan! ).. Rackham, Kidd... Grace O'Malley, Anne Bonney & Mary Read... & whoever else.

Kmart here has a couple pirate posters... which I had to get for myself... on of a skull & crossed cutlasses with "Dead Men Tell No Tales".. & the other is a wicked looking skeletal pirate captain with a crow on his shoulder, a ghost ship & crew. Aye, there are some PotC posters: 1 of Will, 2 of Jack. But those other posters... I just adore! Hanging onto them until the day I can frame them properly! :)
-
The frock coat, eh? Not bad.. but I like the breeches! ::Swoons::: Lads an' gents.. have you ANY inkling of an idea what breeches do to us women? You all look SOOOO damn sexy in them! No matter what size or age you are... you gents look uber sexy in breeches! 'Course.. the attire of the 18th c is uber sexy! :)

Awww.. bummers.. was really looking forward to seein' the Bounty this year. Hmmm.. Well.. if it is.. they need to change their website then. Aye... I was wondering how in the bloody dickens that a tall ship would sail the Mississippi. The bridges are hellish & I know a good many of them between Davenport & St. Louis are rather low & old bridges. But.. HEY! That would be fabulous to see the Royaliste as well. :) Hmmm... makes we want to encourage someone to have another Tall Ships fest in Chicago... again. Hehehe, I also still think would be wicked that the Royaliste be used in PotC as well!

Me... I'm a re-enactor. The Faire holds little excitement for me. I admit it... being near a cannon & being on the battlefield.. it's calming to me... I crave it. I crave the action, the escape from the present to live the past. I know my outfit is not totally authentic... it's an aspect of childhood legend, lore & imagination that spurs it. As well as some other current outfits in the making. Though, I do really want to create a historical aspect of it .. to portray the few piratesses of the past. Or even to dress like the piratesses of the Pirates of the Spanish Main card game. Walking around about a faire acting goofy is not my cup of tea or bottle of rum. I'd rather be there in the faces of folks.. pilfering, plundering, rading... being a real pirate! Not just walking about smiling & lookin' pretty with a cool costume. To me.. it's not much the look of what we perceive is piracy... but what we do as pirates.
-
Me? I call my them my pirate attire. Maybe sometimes my pirate clothes or outfit.

Was checking out the wizkids website on more Pirates of the Spanish Main & Crimson Coast info... only to see another will be available in June! Pirates of the Revolution 3rd series in this constructable strategy game... focusing more on the American side... with some added twists like new events & more! Hehehe... I say ... KEEP 'EM COMIN'!! :)

Hmmm... Barbossa a nickname... having forgotten his real name. I find that hard to believe .. he being a witty & sharp minded man. Unless there was a part in his life where he got amnesia. I don't know... I can imagine crying out the name "Hector" during moments of passion. Besides... the greatest military mind in history was named Hector. & .. Hector meaning "holding fast". I can see him with that name. :) Sexy name, really. & here Johnny thought it was a perfect teasing name. Ahhhh... Aye, Charity. Jack may have a slew & harem of women... but us ladies who adore Barbossa... :::points to signature poster::: or I can point to some of the woman pirate characters from Pirates of the Spanish Main & Pirates of the Crimson Coast card game... he's the kind of man who would have those type of women at his side. Beautiful, deadly & cunning. The BRIDES of Barbossa! :: evil grinz:: So.. Bess... Barbossa's... "Covered".. huh? Oooooo.... Wonder if the mysterious "covering" is aliken to the Crimson Angel or Calico Cat from Pirates of the Spanish Main/Crimson Coast.

OOohh! "Ned Kelly" kicks butt & ROCKS! I believe that it was filmed before PotC. Aye, Heath Ledger is spectacular with Orlando Bloom & Geoffrey Rush... I LOVE that little bit at the end between Heath's character & Geoffrey's character.. with the hero's sash... so touching. Can't wait for PotC 2 & 3, Bess. Hope tings are going well. If you are able to disclose... have they started filming/production yet? Also... not sure you are able to answer this... doubtful.. but, gonna ask anyway... since I am still waiting on word from those in charge of the Bounty.... if you may PM me on what dates you know she will be used. I know that the HMS Bounty will be sailing the Mississippi this year.. & trying to make sure I can volunteer aboard her when she sails the Mississippi. Fabulous ship! It felt like home bein' on & below her decks.

:::Saunters in, a bit tired::: A Pepsi? What happened to the root beer? I'll take a rum an' coke.. if ya don't mind... :: Takes a seat; sits down & relaxes:: Here I be, Will. Looks like yer place if boomin'... No pun intended..

Aye... Best Buy.. Suncoast... Sam Goody... & they all give me this deer in the headlight look & won't bend over backwards to give it a shot. Rather pathetic in my opinion. When I know it's available.. they say it's not. Tried that with my family, too. I tell ya.... I hold the Barbossa name well. Bad luck.. cursed... Hmmm.. ::: has a pondering thought..::: The Goonies though... I adore it. Miss it like crazy... as much as Pirates of the Caribbean... since I haven't seen any of my movies since the fall. Though... I REALLY wish that Blockbuster & other video rental places would have more older films to rent. I love to rent first to see whether I want to buy the film or not. Also... I know a Mr Movies here has the complete set of Disney's "Return to Treasure Island" that was done in the 80's... very wicked! I love it! Adventure on both the high seas & inland!

Sean Astin ( Sam from "Lord of the Rings")... Josh Brolin... Corey Feldman... as well as many others who are well known today. Mama Fertelli is a reat villianess! I agree though... after they slide down that uber water slide ( I STILL would love to ride on something like that!)... they splash into a cavern where they finally reach, after much peril & death defying acts... One-eyed Willie's ship, the Inferno! Yeah... seeing that ship... splendid! Each time! What bloody fun it would be to go on that type of adventure... & descover a pirate ship! Who WOULDN'T want to do that?! BTW, Marjon.. doing good. Life is being the normal pain in the arse at the moment. But.. when it is not.

I read in No Quarter Given about an exhibit that is coming to the Oshkosh Public Museum. I checked on a little more info.... & got reply back this morning. I'm excited! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Ahoy- Pirates swarm ashore here in Oshkosh on June 18th and leave by October 31, 2005. That is 20 weeks of way too much fun. We are closed Mondays and any national holidays. Hours are Tuesday through Saturday 10:00 to 4:30 and Sundays 1:00-4:30 No cost to get into the museum but we are asking for a $2.00 per person donation...and you get to cram it into a donation box shaped like a pirate treasure chest with a glowing red eyed skull on it. I am still working at artifact loans so we are not firm on exactly what we are having here. By the middle of this month I should know exactly. Don Maitz is loaning us 14 works of art including the great 40 Thieves seven foot long painting. We are working on many hands-on exhibit items for all ages of kids including pirate drinks and pirate food smells, load a dummy cannon, dress up, skeleton in a cage, sword fight to the death and more. Where are you out of and would you like to help out for one day with an event here at the museum? I would like to run a sword fight (SCA type of rapier rules and safety) mock trial, and if I can get a big portable water tank, walking the plank contest. Let me know what you think and we can go on from there. Thank'e kindly... By the way we will be selling or auctioning off the props that we create for this exhibit so be on the look out for stuff you might want while you are here. Mike "Sea Dog" Breza Assistant Director Oshkosh Public Museum 920-424-4750 brezam@publicmuseum.oshkosh.net ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Anyone.. PLEASE help out with some artifacts! Also... some of you pirates around this directin... what ya think? I mentioned this in the Fool's Gold topic under Crews. I think it would be a great time for some Invasions!

Oh, it was awesome, Fancy. Had the language... but didn't have the octopus scene. Bummers. I'd like to see some of the old movies. I rather rent them first to decide if I want to buy them. But... the local rental stores around her don't have much of a good selection of old pirate & swashbuckling films. I haven't seen "The Sea Hawk" or many of the old ones. I haven't seen "Casblanca" either. It's just not around here to rent. Sad,m isn't it. I want' to get "Blackbeard the Pirate" with Robert Newton... but... I can't get ahold of it. I don't like ordering online. As many times as people have told me to do that.... I won't. HEY! Sheila! Good to have ya with us! BTW... you had an honorable mention in No Quarter Given newsletter... as a girl with "Horns & a green outfit"... hehehehe....

Pirates of the Plains Unite!
LadyBarbossa replied to Merrydeath's topic in Find a Crew or Introduce One
AVAST! Not sure how many of ya get No Quarter Given... but I just received the lastest issue. Apparently the Public Museum in Oshkosh WI is wanting pirate Memorabilia & pirate film memorabilia. I've mentioned this to a couple people I know already in te Chicagoland area who have PotC items. The pirate exhibit will be run from the spring into the fall of 2005. Perhaps an invasion during this or for the opening of the exhibit? -
Ahhh... the Bounty! Lucky lass! Fabulous ship, is she not? I miss her already. Eager for her coming up this direction. Tis still TBA. Can't wait to see the pix, Paisley! Dying to see them! Get any good ones of you at the helm?
-
My reply, Pete.... :) :) :) :) :) Aye.. that you are. A modern day story about teens who go in search of the infamous treasure of One-Eyed Willie in order to save their homes. Great 80's teen film & pirate-y film.
-
Tis been a while since I've seen it. I have it on VHS. Just haven't had the chance to buy the DVD. But I LOVE Goonies. I have to say.. my first "pirate" film. I remember watching it at home with my sister & best friend late at night. Oh, what fun! As to the cussing... typical 80's teen film! :) They showed it last year here in CR in Bever Park... an actual park.. showing it outside... was great! Too many fav lines out of it: "Is it the A sharp, or B flat?" "If you hit the wrong note, we'll al be flat." LOL... How many of us when we saw that film as kids did we wish to find a treasure map.. go on an awesome, radical treasure adventure like that... & find an amazing treasure? I keep on telling myself.. I'll watch it again here soon. Someday I will... soon.
-
WICKED! Umm... will it be only available via online ordering thought? I have had the most impossible time attempting to get ahold of "Blackbeard the Pirate" with Robert Newton in it. I prefer to buy them at the store. Not online.
-
Actually.... I traded Sir Christopher Myngs for a couple others I wanted. Can't remember off the top of my head what I traded for in specific. But.. with the trades I am doing at current, I am getting rid of the characters & ships I don't want... & getting the ones I do. Soooo... soon I'll be getting Calico Cat, El Fantastma, a few more pirate ships like the Raven's Neck, Silver Dagger, Silverback.... &.. hopefully.. some more pirate crew. ::le sigh:: I'm a happy, satisfied, content piratess. Course.. I am looking at making my own custom cards for the game... which, people are starting to do & some of the cards are rather fantastic! Feburary is around the corner! Nearly there with Crimson Coast!
-
........ .......... Lucky sea dog! I'd love to get my hands upon El Fantasma & the ghost crew. I've Christopher Myngs & Myngs Marauders... but, no keen on keeping them... just want a few pirate characters & as many pirate ships that catch my interest. So, far.. so good. I've got Genny Gallows & recently got ahold of Genny's Red Rampage... soon will be getting Genny's ship the Revenge in a trade. Will also be getting Blackheart in the same trade. Still want Calico Cat. :: le sigh::

Ahoy, Bess. Welp... then may as well deal with some newspapers around the US... cause, a friend of mine here told me it was even printed in the newspaper that Keith Richards was going to be in the sequels. Sad... I know. Dead Man's Chest... I guess is not as bad as The Curse of the Black Pearl. Lord knows - except for a few who do - what will be in the sequels.
