MORGAN! The Marines would LOVE to have ya. :) The event is at Rockford, IL... I can let Rob ( think that's his name)... know that you would like to join the lot! Fabulous lot of gents they are. NWTA schedule I hope to arrive there Fri night sometime about the same time the majority of everyone arrives. I will be there both days... camping. Always a thrill. Of your gear, what ya got? I'm curious! If you have EVERYTHING... I AM JEALOUS! I still have yet to get my whole Dragoon uniform finished!

AHHHHHH! Capn Will! I am VERY jealous of ya! & likewise to those of ya who were at the 225th Invasion of Charlestowne back in May. I read a recent report on the 225th event in the newsletter Southern Campaigns of the American Revolution... & was kicking myself wishing I was there! Such FABULOUS stories that were told! & the camps at different locations just had to have been awesome! Was anyone in the Brit camp when the Continentals made a raid? I have yet to torture Colonel Callaham for not totally being dressed & ready for battle... The artillery I'm sure had to have been MOST IMPRESSIVE! It sounded like it ... no pun intended The Ball.... the Navy... the 2 conflicting sides... what a bummer I missed it. I intend NOT to miss the 225th of Camden, Cowpens... as well as Yorktown. Someone tell me your stories on the 225th Seige!

Oshkosh IS on. PETE! I'll buy ya a drink if ya come! I'll be at Rockford, IL the last weekend of June (24th & 25th). More than likely we will be portraying Tarleton's British Legion (my area of knowledge)... since the majority of the Brits will be out east for the Redcoat Occupation of Williamsburg (Which is a HELL of a sight to see!) You are MORE THEN WELCOME to join us! Course... not all that keene to be a dragoon.. you can be in the Marines or the Navy or Infantry ... artillery... on either side. :) If I don't see ya at Oshkosh, I hope to see ya at Rockford. BTW.. I WILL bring pictures of Vincennes with me. Which was a fabulous event & yes.. I have some good stories about that one.

Tis a serious pity! Alas.. I'm not able to go! Having JUST found out about it. Bad timing, mates.

Thus far the 18th for sure. Though... the 19th is up to you nothing major for the 19th. So .. if you are not around on the 19th.. that's fine. Activities will be on the 18th. Much is planned. Here is what Mr Breza stated: here is what is being planned for the June 18th date. The "Deb D" also in the email send to is the museum staff person who is organizing and managing the opening day events. If you have special questions and the like you might want to email her or call her at 920-424-4733. By the way I took a look at my big wall tent. It is about 8 foot wide, 7 to 8 foot tall at the ridge pole, side walls at about 32" tall and about 10' long. Will set it up on the museum grounds for the day of the 18th for the pirate crew use. Museum opens at 10:00 that day, but the main push for the events is scheduled for 12:00 to 4:00. We will have visitors starting at 10:00 so be ready!!!! Pirate Mayhem Day Oshkosh Public Museum June 18th, 2005 12:00 to 4:00 Pirate Activities to Include: 1. Enter a pirate contest---Dress in your best pirate outfit when you visit the museum this day. All contestants must register when they enter the museum. Pirate judges will observe contestants and judge their outfit as well as how they act like a pirate. First, second and third place prizes to be awarded in an Adult and Child category (call the museum for more details). 2. Go Treasure Hunting. 3. Create a Captain's Hat. 4. Build your own pirate ship. 5. Race a pirate ship. 6. Make a Swashbuckler puppet. 7. Try your luck at a "Talk Like A Pirate" guessing game. Other fun things to do: Listen to Bounding Main: three performances, each 1/2 hour in length at 1:15, 2:15 and 3:15 Experience Pirate re-enactors (and do not forget to bring your camera) Plus....Do not miss The Pirates Cove-where you can partake of Pirate fare such as ship's bread and grog. Does this sound fabulous or what?!?

Aye... likewise. Ok.. will look into that hotel. All in all... I'm sure we will think of something! :)
-
VERY carefully, Will! It's doable. We've done the same thing whilst raining or on wet ground at other re-enactments. The wool is a pain no matter if it's dry or hot.. hot is worse than wet in my opinion. But... what's worse is when I finish with my doeskin breeches since I am portraying a Dragoon... when that gets wet, that will be hell! I heard that it was fabulous. A good report from a few from the NWTA that went. Said the Continental Line was rather authentic & incredible. Though... being a participant in this... the free part confuses me. Course... I know that some places may have charged cause it was on a National Park grounds. They do the same at some places here like Vincennes.. it's to help maintain the Historical site. Being on the battlefield is fabulous! I LOVE it! Can't wait for Vincennes Memorial Weekend... battlefield fun! I am SOOOOO looking forward to it. :) Got pictures? We always LOVE them! The Revolutionary War Re-enactors chat list on Yahoogroups.... we love reports & pictures. So... are ya into Revolutionary War much, Cptn Will? I'm making plans to go to Camden in August for the 225th of the Battle of Camden. Looking forward to that. MORGAN... whereabouts are ya? Unless you live north of Quebec... guaranteed there is an American Rev War event in the vicinity.

:: Shrugs:: I won't exactly treat the June Exhibit as a major Invasion, but it can be I guess. The Spring Invasion... :: Shrugs:: Aye.. it's difficult to coordinate. I know this year & into next year will be rather busy. LOTS of traveling. How I will do it, I haven't a clue! Focusing more on the Rev War events this year. But... Piracy is still not out for me.. that is still a part of 18th c & I adore this era. So... eventually... I'm sure we can coordinate a time that will work. I'm still trying to figure out which events in the NWTA I will be attending. Wish I would attend them all.
-
Well.. something historical that's for sure. Maybe for the ball I will wear my gold gown. I'm planning on attending that as well. Hopefully I won't be too broke from just getting back from Cowpens SC or have classes that interfer - yep.. going back to school. I'll most definitely be there for 18th c.. mostly Rev War. Hawks... I had the honor & pleasure of meeting Clisto last year at Bristol. Spoke with him a couple times online, one of those times was to inform him about the Re-enactors Fest. Figured he would love to go to something like this & to spread the word on this fabulous fest. I think it will be fabulous!
-
Hawks.. would enoy havin' ya with the lot of us. Hope to see ya there, too, Pete! Not sure when I will be in the Chicagoland area for a re-enactment in the next couple months. MAYBE Rockford.. we shall see. Otherwise, I will be at a couple others like Vincennes, Indiana this Memorial Weekend. Oh... who ever brings some artifacts or whatever.. you may. I suppose... I may bring my tent. Merry D mentioned that Mr Breza would like something like that. But.. still working on that. If we don't get the trial.. that's fine. We can help out with the exhibits.. as well as just saunter through ... steal gold, gawk & drool... as well as hand out the gold, I have 4 bags with 144 coins in each. So... should be plenty. Yes, Pete... simply being there IS the best offer. :)
-
So far.. there will be 4 or 5 of us there. Alas... I wish there were more. But... either I got no answer or other pirates are busy. Nothing new... just that the artifacts should be arriving any day & they will be setting up soon for the exhibit. As to where I will be staying? Haven't a clue yet. I haven't been given the chance to take a look around. Not kidding. I'm feeling like a slave to everyone else around me. When I get that chance by some miracle of God to check with hotels & make reservations... I'll let ya know. I have been working on trinkets for those attending to make it fun. Plus... I have 4 bags of pirate coins - 144 coins in each bag.. that can be handed out to those who come to the exhibit. The exhibit I will talk further to Mr Breza about... if by some miracle of God I can be left alone so I can get MY work done... cause I want to know what exhibits that are interactive where if you all would like... to help the patrons to experience them a little more. Like the trying on the pirate attire.. cannon loading... the smells of a ship... etc. Also.... I haven't done any research & was hoping to attempt to pull off a trial. So... if anyone has ideas or a script already for one... it would be GREATLY appreciated! Well.. alas.. I must dash. I've been on too long already. TTYL...

Barbosa.... Check out Panther Primitives for a fine & more authentic tent. They've a variety. Even the fabulous Marquis tents or a fly. You can also get a fly from Townsend. Or even Smoke & Fire. Those 2 will be down at Vincennes at the end of this month, Memorial Weekend. God help me with the money. I'll want to buy everything! The range of pricing for these tents are $300 to $400 depending upon which one you get. They are made with the sunforger canvas which is top grade & I HIGHLY recommend.

Aye. Crimson Coast has the availability issue. I STILL haven't gotten ahold of Crimson Angel. I have 2 of the Hag of Tortuga, 3 of El Phanstama, 3 of Havana Black, etc... But NO Crimson Angel. I generally just buy pack by pack when I can spare a little money. I haven't lately since I am working on my re-enacting items (clothing, personal items, etc.) I've a fabulous fleet of pirates, though! I can't argue with that! Though... their abilities don't do much for those others under the British, Spanish or French. Especially Carbon Charlie who is Brit. If you have him on a Brit ship, however much gold you gather, is how many cannons you can allow on a single ship! Umm... it's a BIT unfair to other ships. I haven't stood a chance! Which is sad! Even my Ghost Ships didn't stand a chance, which I find a bit twisted that how the bloody hell can you destroy & sink a ghost ship? Not a Black Pearl type ghost ship.. but an ACTUAL ghost ship that can pass through ships, islands, etc. The Deliverence & the Amity are those ghost ships. Anyway.... I got another Roanoke in a pack... well, part of a Roanoke. I got the 1/3 & 3/3 But... I didn't get the 2/3 in the pack! I am SOOOO mad now! Looking forward to Revolution nonetheless.

Had a dream about the Bounty last night... didn't want to wake up! :) Summer sailing on the east coast? So she's most definitely not coming along the Ol' Miss this summer? I'm having Bounty withdraws!

Ahhh... Interesting. I'm SOOO very tempted to go. I'd love to since I haven't gotten out that direction. I suppose if I would go.. I'd join the British Legion. Going in garb with no unit, huh? Hmmm. Good luck to ya then. Ummm.. in garb as what? Colonials? Well.. if the event I was planning to go to at the end of this month falls through (which just got an email from my commander, he's unable to attend), then I MAY be able to make it. Just need to find a place to set up camp & all though.
-
Yup... very much so. I'd like to go myself. But ... we shall see. Depends on the price of gas next year though, too. The Grand Ball I'm sure would be something VERY spectacular! To see many people there dressed in the finest from various eras.

Attention all those in the Chicagoland region & where ever reachable! Found out about this from the NWTA forum. Sounds like fun! Reenactor Fest in St. Charles IL March 10-12 2006 This is a new event for the Chicagoland area. It may prove to be a big trade show that is close by for many of us. Please see their great website at: http://www.reenactorfest.com/

I am SOOOOO iching to go. I really am. Alas, Lee's Legion in the NWTA won't be there. I believe that the British Legion will be there. But.. I'm not entirely a soldier. ::ponders:: If by some miracle of God I get to go.. believe me, you will know, Capt'n. Ooooh, how FUN that will be! I've not been to Charleston yet. I know I will there for the 225th of Cowpens Jan 2006. I'm pondering Camden in Nov Which unit or regiment will you be with?

To... the 225th Seige of Charlestowne?

Orlando is a lucky lad to have gotten into this business. I give him credit for that. As well as his looks & his acting is not bad. He's his own style. Like I said... I've seen some good & some bad acting. Locally mostly. I love getting out there in the public eyes all dresed up for not just the idea of dressing up in an outfit... but the whole of it... the acting, the creating a whole different realm for those others around me. I do it for the fun... not the money (LOl, what money, I never see any of it anyway... it's more a hobby).
-
Aye! I very excited as well! Eager to meet the lot of ya.

OK.. I asked Mr Breza on some hotels in the area for anyone that may want or need to stay overnight. Here's what he replied back with: Here is a list of places to try. They are not ranked in any sort of order. The only bad place, and it is not on my list to you, is the Ramada Inn so avoid it. AmericInn- 920-232-0300. Very close to the museum and right across the street from the Howard Johnson. Right next to exit Hwy 21- Hwy 41. Not sure of the price or how clean. Holiday Inn Express- 920-303-1300. On the other side of the ramp from the AmericInn. Might be higher priced but very close to museum and food spots. Howard Johnson, 920-233-1200. Older hotel, might be not so clean but ought to be cheap. Right across the street from AmericInn. Hawthorn Inn, 800-527-1133. Newest hotel, ought to be clean but higher in price I would think. Just off the highway 41 about 2 miles from the exit to the museum. Could you give me a conservative estimate on how many pirates that you have talked to might be here please? This will help in my plans and my contacts. Thanks! Artifacts and artwork ought to show up in April!! Michael Breza Assistant Director Oshkosh Public Museum

LOL... Northwest Territory Alliance www.nwta.com (Sorry there is no link, comp is all screwy). I just try to stick with Pirates & Patriots at the moment. That's more than enough for me to handle. So.. have we all decided on a date for the Invasion? I'll be in Bourbonnais, IL for a Rev War re-enactment April 30 - May 1
-
Awesome! For those of you wanting to help out. Thank you GREATLY Red Bess & Sjöröveren.... Pete.. hope to see you there. I will try & eventually get a better idea of the compensation that they have in mind for us. I think I may do an over nighter as well... unfortunately. But.. aye.. we can also treat this as an Invasion, too. Black hearted Pearl... I will most definitely have pictures taken. LOTS of them! I am known to be a photo whore.. as some would say. I can often use 3 to 8 rolls of film in 1 weekend!

I'll keep my eyes open, Rigger. I know someone had a Roanoke & they were willing to sell it ( for $25) .. which I kinda felt rather cheesed out that they got it & was selling it! Aye.. I just got lucky to get ahold of her after only a few packs. I was a very happy Continental. it's a fun game. ... IF people can play. Hope they enjoy it, Pete! Hopefully we can play the game at our Invasion... whenever it be.
