  1. Yeah good question, it looks like it might be a flat felled seam but without Patrick here to tell us we may never know.
  2. So Patrick, when you say non visible seams are machine sewn, what do you consider non visible seams? On something like the breeches, it looks like just about everything is hand sewn. If you can use those pants as an example that would help me to understand. Also I would like to try and a machine stitch that could simulate a hand sewn one. Now that would be cool. Thanks
  3. LA! Sorry I couldn't resist.
  4. YEAH! callenish, or I'll... ummmm... going to do nothing, your arsenal is bigger then mine. I don't think I want to see the wrong end of a "buss".
  5. I too am interested to see fi there are any better ways to do this. I thought about some kinda of candle wax, but that would probably drip and get all over you. (and burn) Maybe our ideas of torches is also askew from hollywood? Maybe they really never burned long and it was only used in dire need. Probably why candles and lantern were popular. I don't know just random thoughts on the subject.
  6. Actress (you like her name says. Its what popped in me head first.)
  7. Sorry this should be in Rabble Rousing. I forgotten who moderates this forum, but could you please move it? My apologies. I'm a moron.
  8. 1. The first thing you look for in new clothes is whether its made out of linen or wool. 2. The first thing when your in a new town is look for new fabric shops. 3. Go to Jo-Ann fabrics just to get a fix. 4. Order way to much and over buy any fabic, "just to have more should you need it later." 5. Hang on to every last scrap of fabric, cause you have a hard time letting go. (See #4) 6. While walking through the mall you see a new coat and are drawn to it just because it's made of linen. Anyone else??
  9. I plan on getting some swatches if I can. I will definitely post a report if I make it there. It's all dependent on whether or not I get out early tomorrow. Stay tuned.
  10. Ummm, what do you mean by "flat backed"? I'm a bit lost.
  11. Silk Velvet Try that... Its under Upholstery.
  12. (with an maniacal laugh) Yes, yess, I love fabrics..... I think that part of what keeps me coming back for more.
  13. I'm not sure if about Fishman's claims but they say it 100% silk. A little off topic but what about the linen velvet? It makes sense that they would have had it. They had linen. Oh if I get any, although I'm sure its expensive as "all get out", it'll be for me.
  14. Ahhh yes the decor section. One must not limit one's self. So would velvet silk be accurate? I just happen to find some recently, not sure how much though. Also they have linen velvet. Fishman Fabrics I'm going to try and see the fabrics in person tomorrow. I'll bring my camera.
  15. Would they also have had plain silk? (Plain being solid color.) I did find out that duponi silk is wrong. That helps point me in the right direction. I guess I should have something like, What kinda of silks are available today that are usable for a GoAP outfit. What silks are to be avoided. I love that site. Makes me drool everytime, until I look at the price.
  16. OOohh, even more! Look closer and you'll see the red heels. Yet one more from the Costumers Manifestio
  17. So what about these gentlemen? They look rather in fashion to me, do they fall in the requirements of the Fop? Photo from Costumers Manifestio\
  18. Ooohhhh!! Pretty brocade, like the colors.
  19. Yes Sir Morgan, I will be buying this book. Is it wrong for a guy to love fabric to much?
  20. Are these volunteer forms available online yet?
  21. Heck, I'll be happy just to train in between skirmishes. Sounds like PiP is shaping up!
  22. Try here Class Act Fabrics\ She seems to know what see is talking about. Although I haven't researched her claims. Some really nice fabrics to be had from there. It seems a little "mom & pop" in the way they operate. I bought some fabric from there and i used it for my wifes mantua. I will definitely be buying from there again. Very cool and different stuff to be found.
  23. Hello MADogge, I would certainly be interested in participating in the hand to hand combat arena. Would I be possible to have a sword fight or 2? I plan on being down there early Wednesday, so after I'm all set up we could certainly work on some choreography. I haven't had any professional experience, but certainly willing to take a hit or 2. Sounds like this will be a lot of fun!
  24. Probably just a hollywood thing, but it would help me to stay in character.
  25. Naww, I'll make do. If I could have wahed Before I cut the fabric, this could have been avoided. But no worries. I guess the shrinkage effect it more prominent when you that much yardage.
